„ייִדיש הײַנט“ איז אַ סעריע ווידעאָ־פּראָגראַמען וואָס שטעלן אײַך פֿאָר פֿאַרשידענע מינים אַרטיסטן, פֿאָרשערס, און קולטור טוערס פֿון אַרום דער וועלט וואָס שאַפֿן הײַנטצײַטיקע קולטור אויף ייִדיש.

אַבֿרהם־לייב (אַבֿרום) בורשטיין איז געבוירן געוואָרן אין ירושלים בײַ אַ ברעסלעווער חסידישער משפּחה. ער איז אַן אַקטיאָר און אַ כּלי־זמר וואָס שפּילט אויף עטלעכע אינסטרומענטן. ער אַרבעט אויפֿצוהאַלטן די אויטענטישע ברעסלעווער נגינה־טראַדיציע, און צו פֿאַרטיפֿן און אויפֿלעבן די אַלטע כּלי־זמר־טראַדיציע צווישן די חסידים. דורך די יאָרן האָט ער אַרויסגעגעבן אַ סך מוזיקדיסקן, נאָטן־ביכלעך און פֿילמען. ער איז אויפֿגעטרעטן אין קאָנצערטן איבער דער גאָרער וועלט, און אויפֿגעשטעלט די אגודת הכליזמרים ירושלים און הקרצ'מע של בורשטיין (בורשטיינס קרעטשמע/Burstein's Klezmer Basement).

Yiddish Today - E 22
“Yiddish Today” is a series of video programs that present artists, researchers, and cultural activists from around the world who are creating contemporary Yiddish culture.
Watch this this conversation (in Yiddish) between Eli Benedict and Avrum-Leib Burstein, about the Jerusalem and Miron klezmer tradition; the influence of Hasidic tunes on the klezmer world; the place of klezmer music in the Hasidic world, and in the Breslov community in particular. We also discuss Burstein’s own history; how he established a new generation of klezmers; his activities with “Yung Yidish”; his recordings; and his work as an actor, both on Shtisel and in other films.

Avrom-Leib Burstein was born in Jerusalem to a Breslov Hasidic family. He is an actor and musician, playing klezmer music on several instruments. He works to maintain the authentic Breslov music tradition, and deepen and revive the old klezmer tradition among the Hasidim. Over the years, he has released many music CDs, music books and films. He held concerts around the world, and founded the Jerusalem Klezmer Association and Burstein's Klezmer Basement.
