This is my award winning chicken and sausage gumbo straight out of Lafayette. My gumbo recipe is a family recipe and I'm so excited to share it with you! Cajun cuisine is what got me into cooking and holds a special place in my heart. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Just sayin', you didn't need to clarify this was sentimental for you. I could honestly feel the heart overflowing all the way through, all the passion and loving memories. I'm just surprised you didn't cry sharing it. Like I told my wife once that changed her view on what a kitchen is about, "cooking is more than just fixing hunger, it's showing someone you love them." You just showed your viewers you love them.

I know by heart how to make gumbo but I watched your entire video because of how wholesome your set up is and how much love you clearly put into this. This kind of video is my absolute favorite type of cooking video.. you aren't just cooking because you and your family are hungry, or just to put out cooking videos on RU-vid, you are doing it because these tried and true recipes run through the blood in your veins. You put SO much love and passion into it and you can feel your wonderful memories exude

Rachel Aaroen Pris is only the 2nd person I’ve heard say this. The other was my mom whenever we would be driving or shopping or walking to the bus stop, ect. LOL. But ESPECIALLY when she was cooking. Many a time she smacked my butt with a wooden spoon in the process.

❤️. I have the roux making down but not the gumbo. I always did decent but tried to use a whole chicken and thats so much work. Priscilla you make me smile and I needed that today more than usual. I loved cooking still would if I could eat. I have broke stomach disease and am septic on hospice waiting for my day and it’s terrifying but you and your sweet southernness just put a smile on my face today where I was just feeling sorry for myself and being miserable. I found your family's other channel first, but now I'm obsessed with yours as well! Thank for for keeping it so real, and light hearted! That roux was intense, but I can't wait to try it! Loved the part at the end of the roux where it is all of a sudden calm, no fan, and "whew we survived!" Y'all need to play Eye of the Tiger to this roux makin'!

Sounds amazing. I live nin AZ but am from Houston with both my parents are from Southern Louisiana. Gumbo is one of my favorites. We typically do just the roux and add file, without okra and I've never had it with a tomato base. This is my comfort food. Thanks for sharing your recipe Priscilla

In Louisiana we call the garlic “the pope”. So we use the Holy trinity and the pope to bless our delicious food…I’m just at the beginning but so far, soooo goood!

Just like I make it except I’m not an okra fan so I leave it out. Most people in La think tomatoes in gumbo is ludicrous…lol! I’m going to look at getting one of those separators, I’ve always tried to skim off the excess and that looks so much easier. With that gumbo, you win the honorary Cajun pin👏👏👏👏
