Fly fishing the Missouri River in June was awesome and challenging. The river flows were all over the place - as high as 14,400 cfs on one of the days we drifted and settled out at the end of the month around 8000cfs. It started out very cold and wet and finally warmed up the last week of the month. Fishing for us got a lot better and the hatches came off although we had a tough time getting them to bite - quite a few refusals.
With the high water we were not finding fish in the usual places and we had to experiment with the length of our leaders and tired spots that we had not in other years - the side channels were pretty productive.
