Host Colin McKeown joins the great folks from Head Hunters Fly Shop in Craig Montana to catch trout in early April. They are fly fishing on the Missouri River and guide Mark Raisler is going to put on a school teaching us some exceptional nymphing techniques!

Great fly shop everything you may need and more , The river is incredible . Streamers , drys , swinging , it offers it all .

I’m impressed you got video without 20 other drift boats in the shot. Fished the Missouri every year for 20 years until a few years ago. Had to move to increasingly downstream floats to not be on a freeway. Somehow the fishing held up pretty well.

5” per year? Seems ambitious, particularly as the fish get larger where the increase in weight would be at a much higher rate than the increase in length. Still a very good video with lots of valuable information.

Craig Montana does not have a population of 600.. It's more like 40, maybe.

Fished there in the late 90's and the population then was less than 30. Got to meet Pat Elam. Awesome guy. We camped in Craig at the camp site. Made a couple trips to Wolf Creek to The Oasis for the Sultan Burger. Probably 2000 calories in that thing but it was delicious. We were there in late July and caddis was on the menu. Awesome river!

The population from May to August is likely 600 but the rest of the year it is far less.
