This is so useful, my high school macs don't let you download anything, not even free Sims like lepou, so my tone for school projects is reliant on logic Sims entirely. Thanks! Greetings from England
You can load impulse response cabinets into Spacedesigner as well. I use some guy's homemade mesa 4x12 + shure sm57-response on all my guitars. A great trick is to use it twice in your chain if your tone still sounds thin and fizzy.
You might be able to download them onto another device and transfer them over via USB or something. Transfer them over like any other file to where you want them and then point your DAW to look for plugins in the place where you put them.
Lol in our music tech class at my school we don’t have audio interfaces at all so we just use midi. I’ve been recording guitars at home through my rig and just bringing in the tracks at school.
There is nothing wrong with the Logic guitar amps and pedals, you just gotta tweak them a bit to suit what tone you want to get, and there is so many to choose from, it can sometimes take a while to find the right one!
Thank you so much! I’ve tried so many things in Logic/GB and it never works lol. You have saved me from my hundreds of hours of unsuccessful experimentation. This literally might be my favorite RU-vid video I’ve watched out of tens of thousands.
Wow, you have actually stopped me having to buy a very expensive plugin. This is a great sound. Even been able to tweak it to get a good lead sound too. Thank you.
I found the pre eq really helpful on these too. As you point out the default plugins can be really muddy, an aggressive low cut before the amp really helps tighten it up
I'm glad there are people like you who are prepared to troll through the endless options in Logic for basically anything. I just can't be bothered, so thanks!
Quite surprised at how good that Logic tone is... Well done! Really makes you rethink things. Apple makes some of, if not the best, stock plugins I’ve heard. Only thing I would suggest to you is making the snare a little bit lower in volume next time. Listening on an iPhone, so I could have a false sense of amplitude, but it seemed a little too aggressive in comparison to the rest of the track. :)
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I used Addictive Drums 2.0 for this video, I've switched to Perfect Drums meanwhile and I'm getting much better mixes now which translate a lot better on other speakers than my home speakers!
This surprised me so much. I've used the logic amp sim loads for non-metal tones and I like to think I have a good ear for tone but got really sick of sifting through horrible metal amps & I was sure something would be usable in the plugin. This sounded really really good!
Great job with the native Logic Pro plugins! There are so many free amps and impulse responses out there that you could use to make good guitar tones. But I like what you did with what you had.
Sounds pretty good, will definitely give it a try/experiment. One thing I've also done is doubling (even tripling) up the same DI recording, but using different "microphones" and panning settings, basically emulating what Arjen Lucassen has done on his albums (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rrdCT29kT6c.htmlm50s) which in my opinion makes the guitars sound much bigger.
Thank you for this. I'm a midi-only guy using Real Eight from MusicLab. I've used Guitar Rig 5 for years but finally starting to use Logic's amp designer. This vid really helped me start weening my dependency on GR5. Now I need to learn some Neck Deep-ish pop-punk sounds! Thx.
This was great!! Thank you for sharing this, I was starting to consider buying some plugins but for a demo recording, this is more than enough! For anyone who could find it useful, cut just a liiitle bit of the high frequencies in the graphic EQ pedal and maybe play with the gain knob in the Brown Head amp if you want a bit more of a thrash sound. I recorded Metallica's Escape as a test and it sounds very decent! just needs good mixing and whatnot.
Sounds fucking great! In a big, well mixed track, I won’t care how this was made/tracked etc

Thank you so much, this is an awesome video - I did the exact thing on my guitar, and it sounds way better now! Well explained, simple, no bullshit - keep it up! :)
Thank you very much for the information and demonstration. The information was very useful and beneficial when limited to the stock amps and effects. Great job.
You are perfection. Please link me to any of your merch and material. I'm currently learning how to produce this genre in my home studio with similar gear and am absorbing as much of everything as I can. I haven't looked yet, but hope you have a video like this for drums. Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Here's my solo-project ;) noostriches.bandcamp.com/ I'm using different drum sounds by now, but I'll talk about that in the upcoming weeks.
This tone is amazing. Better than what I was getting on a pod farm. HOWEVER. I’m rocking a schecter omen 7 with stock pickups. Would you say that achieving a sound like yours in this vid requires a higher grade guitar and better pickups. Wondering if I should up grade my schecter 7 if I’m really gonna get serious about this
This was really surprising! Actually a fan of that tone. Did you also make a video about your heavy metal bass midi? I don't have a bass, so that's the only piece im missing right now.
Nice, Logic Stock plugins and included gear has really everything you need for any genre of music. I got into a plugin buying craze then later realized that apples sometimes rivaled if not bested capability wise. Is that 21.5" or 27" iMac?
Great video and thank you for sharing. Do you have a video on how you program Bass Midi? I just bought a 7 String guitar but I don't own a 5 string bass. I have a 4 string but it's too low to record it. Thanks again!!
Noice sound! I 'm thinking of getting myself a cheap "BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UM2" sound card, but I need to know a couple things first : - Can I use logic pro X to play live (meaning without recording, hearing effects as I play), like in guitar rig for example? - And would that sound card be good enough or would it struggle with metal tones?
If I'm not mistaken, these guitar tone options are also found in Garageband, correct? I know that DoubleDragon looks familiar.... Excellent video. Thank you!
Nice video bud... I am literally about to recieve all my equipment next to set up my first home studio and am gonna be using logic pro.... I like a much bassier chunky sound but the tone you have here is rad....i am well looking forward to having all my shit set up..... After 24years playing guitar its about time... What drum programme are you using??
Great sound, but I’m getting a ton of hissing, buzzing when these amps are being used, especially when I’m not playing. How do I get rid of this noise?
