In this one I teamed up with Ed The Pond Professor and Aquascape to set up an AquaGarden Mini Pond. I don't know about you, but I think it turned out extremely well! I really like how much of a feature the waterfall portion of the design is and I enjoy how the light shines through. What do you think?
Long-term I want to add plants to the water area as I eluded to in the video. However, I didn't have anything that I thought would look appropriate in this setup. I wish I would of had a few taller plants (like syngonium), but I could always add those later on as well.
Also, what should I stock it with? I want you to decide! Leave your best suggestion in the comments for something suitable for a setup of this size. I'll take the best/highest liked suggestions and do a poll in about a month.

If you want to increase water volume you could consider having an additional container with water in and have the pump route water through that.

@@SerpaDesign I can't wait to show you my patio pond! I set it up last year using only native plants I propogated from ponds in my area. Iris, snake tales, moss etc - I'll tag you on Instagram one I get it all back together today! (Still pretty cold up here in Ontario) your video this morning inspired me to get outside and get it all set up again!!

I prefer SerpaDesign's pond compared to Ed The Pond Professor's. Tanner's is like nature in a bowl and Ed's is like a bowl in nature, if that makes sense 😅

yeah tanner did a better job hiding the plastic bowl with the hardscape while ed put the plastic bowl inside hardscape. both are great but i always feel plastic is the most unnatural looking thing in any setup and takes away from it.

Ed's doesn't look permanent either. He just surrounded it with a bunch of stuff against a bare wall. Looks like it will be immediately disassembled.

I can't decide who did it better. You did it in mind with having it in doors and it shows, but Ed did his thinking of how it would look on a deck or patio. So I'd have to say you both did it beautifully while thinking about the space this pond would be. Either way the ponds are awesome!

This came really great. I really liked the moss in this. I had a good chuckle when you said the red fluorite is unappealing because that's the exact substrate I use in my planted shrimp tank and it looks great in there, haha. I did enter in the giveaway. Tanner you never sieze to amaze me in how you put these mini pond builds together! Would never have thought to use a prayer plant as a water plant. I used to have them many years but always in soil. But seeing you planting in the top bin where the roots will be sitting in water all the time? Learn something new every day. As always it was a pleasure to watch you! 😊 I have no doubt who will win. Loved Ed's idea too but this is the one that will take the cake

LOVE this pond kit, and I really love what you did with it! You are so creative and inspiring! I am hoping they will ship one of these to Canada, because I have had absolutely no luck finding anything remotely good enough for a DIY mini pond up here. I think you should stock your pond with something bright, like Gold-Dust Mollies, or some fancy guppies

It's so difficult to compare the two builds. I LOVE your miniature fantasy. The sense of scale while maximizing the space that you had and the diversity of plants wins me over. However, I've been brainstorming for months on how to make essentially a self contained water feature like this one within the 150g vivarium I am building, and Ed's build was greatly inspirational to me on how I can incorporate a pre-made system like this naturally into my vivarium without looking like I just placed a bowl in a tank. However, your hardscaping is much preferable to me to hide all of the inside components. Ultimately I like yours more because you perfectly meshed the working-within-the-means, and hiding the behind-the-scenes hardware. If you ever actually see this comment, I've love to show you what I'm brainstorming and have a conversation on methods. I've been so inspired by your page and watch it every day.

I love the mini ponds you build. Realistically home ownership is out of reach for most people so owning/building a pond is out of the question. So building a mini pond is a great compromise for those who rent apartments or small homes. It is affordable and a way to recreate the outdoors in the indoors.

I watched both videos and yours was the best by far. The details that you put into your projects make them. But … I do have an affinity for old tree stumps. I loved his pond "surround." If I had my way, I would use a more detailed pond (like yours) with a stump, fern, rock and moss surround on my patio, bringing the pond indoors in the fall. IF … I had a patio!

Another gorgeous creation! The water fall is the cherry on top. ...as for stocking it Im new to this but all I envision are orange goldfish or small kio to pop out against the darker water foliage? Look forward to what you have in mind. Ed's is really nice as well. I like the display around the pond but his pond is a little thin on substance, it leaves alot of brown pond exposed. I prefer they way you try and hide as mush of the container as possible making it look more natural.
