That's my stall for satays! Yes, they have freshly made to order products. Fats in between the meats are difficult in preparation, not so costs effective and thus their pricing are able to be held at this level is good. Having pineapple puree is Hainanese style but yet not many are doing it oredi. Personally rate this as the consistent satay for me, after Fang Yuan Satay, previously all time favourite!

Greg when I was a kid in the mid-80’s a guy with a grill on the back of his bike used to come to Clementi Park on a Sunday afternoon. We bought from him religiously and it was divine. I wonder if such sellers still exist these days?

Ha! this is the satay stall I always go to when I go to Bukit Timah Market. Didn't realise the history behind it. Always enjoy the food there though. Also, Bukit Timah Market has a ton of niche little stalls that are worth looking into!

Yong Seng satay is worth trying. Standard pretty good, meat tender and not overpriced. All choices of meat available including pork.

I reckon I could eat my bodyweight in good satay! I was last in Singapore in 2017 and ate at this food centre. I mustn't have looked close enough at the stalls, as I probably walked right past it. Ah well, when I win the lottery, I'll be back. Another great #GregsBigEats video!

There’s another satay stall there that’s equally delicious it’s on one of the rows on the very right of this Bukit Timah Hawker Centre. They sell satay chicken wings and oyster omelette.

Can you explain the taste difference between a Malay stall satay vs Chinese sold?
@terry1447
@terry1447 Год назад
One main difference is that the Chinese Satay stall will most likely offer pork satay along with beef, chicken and sometimes lamb, whereas the Malay stall will not offer pork for religious reasons.

If I recall correctly, you have to request for the onions. Most customers don’t like raw onions

Greg, have you eaten satay pre-70's?
@GregoryLeow
@GregoryLeow Год назад
Nope but I’ve heard stories from seniors, older hawkers and foodies about how satay has changed (for the worse) over the years
@kensolee
@kensolee Год назад
@@GregoryLeow I have only vague memories of eating at Newton and Esplanade from pushcarts and wooden stools and hurricane lamps, and they would count the sticks from the plates of satay they gave you for payment after you've eaten. The charcoal probably also adds to the taste...

Tried this also but honestly the satay is a bit dry and was quite overcooked.
