Boar Garage V5 isnt all that reccomended, bad on fuel and tuning potention is low, Vtec will kill my heart if you put that in a mk2 VR6 is too heavy for a mk2.. As owning one, a 1.8T would be a good,swap, At least 150bhp stock, lots of parts and spares, they are really cheap here. Stock hp is enough for the mk2, untill you upgrade suspension brakes and everything, thrn just map it and you'll be golden. Also the 20V is based on a mk2 golf engine anyway. That'd be my choice. Though I am quite biased

Well kinda, eastern cars during communist era were often made with help from other sources. Fiat was keen on selling licenses so for example in poland you could buy the fiat 125, 126 and others, usually after italian production with some changes. Same with Russia but Russian cars were more different as the terrain there wasnt in good shape and they had to be durable, they also liked to ,,borrow" designs like the post war Opels. They searched factories for the plans. There have been cars that were made with no help, good ones actually like for example czechoslovakian skodas but having a foreign design was usually a better idea. So there have been brands that used italian design in some way, but you cant really call them Italian
