Awesome Score from Apartment Dumpsters - I can't believe they threw these away!

Howdy friends and welcome back! I went dumpster diving on Halloween at apartment complexes and found some really awesome items that I will be able to sell and donate! I was shocked to find all the glass grape plates and punch cups - they're so beautiful and I can't believe they were still in such nice condition after being thrown in the trash. Not everyone has transportation or the ability to make it to a donation center, but remember that you can always leave things in a box beside the dumpster / on the curb as a way of "donating". It makes it easier for people to see and take home to give new life :)
As always, thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a wonderful week!!

The slotted “pan” is actually the top to a stove broiler pan. It looks virtually new. They used to come for free with buying a new stove, but they generally don’t do that anymore. I ended up buying a replacement for mine a thrift store recently (my old one had worn out.)

I have used dryer sheets, tucked under collar at back of neck, to discourage mosquitos. Seems to work. It will do in a pinch. : ) Someone may have put a hole in that gourd for small birds to nest in, but perhaps it wasn't a good fit for them? : ) The plates and cups are Vintage, used a lot back in the day for Ladies card clubs, to serve finger foods and drink. They are not fragile because the glass making process for those pressed glass sets was tempered extremely well, .though they are a heavy to ship. Those will be Antique in only a few years. The tins are also vintage, early to mid sixties and many people use those for sewing tins and giving as gifts during the holidays, packed with yummy homemade cookies and candies. You could even repackage store bought cookies in them for gifts. : ) Love the knitted hoodie scarf.

Something that sort of amazes me is that in the 60’s, 70’s people actually had enough room to store things like those snack plates and cups in their homes which by today’s standards were much much smaller. Last night I watched a news segment that said that there are now more storage spaces for rent than almost any other type of franchise. I believe it, I live in an area that 15 years ago was 90% rural, not even a grocery store, now when I’m out and about the landscape has changed so much it’s not even recognizable. Not sure what to call the over abundance of things we buy that we don’t really need and may never use, guess it’s just more of our American Greed.

Opinionated and nobody reads other people's comments evidently because, cummerbund was listed in here about 50 times as were the Anchor brand tea sets, they're worth about $12 per platter and cup. You're supposed to pick up garbage, save garbage to compost, and know what everything is that you bring home, Kelly. The first oval shaped thing with the hole is a gourd. It’s like a squash but is not edible and is used for bird houses or bottle containers. Some people use them to make decorative art containers. Some older cookie tins and candy tins can be worth a fair bit of money. I had a candy tin 35 years ago that I found out was worth $35.00. The blue egg is maybe Alabaster which I believe is a type of marble. I had some I got on a trip to Italy. I eventually sold them on a yard sale. Fun video as I used to dumpster dive until the country put up a fence and maned it. It was a mess, so understandable, but as an artist, it’s unfair they don’t allow dumpster diving anymore. The wax warmer can be retired. Take care and stay well!

Your amazing! Love those plates they were very popular in the 40’s and 50’s before the advent of paper plates and cups for weddings or party type of gatherings usually along with a punch bowl but also for coffee& cake nuts s sandwich etc. good on ya!!❤️❤️❤️

Yes, or you could even upholster it. Put some foam and fabric on the top and staple it. Or put a round plate or piece of wood on top. Use it as a plantstand (lots of ideas 😉!)

I just watched your video on my TV and had to come on my laptop so I could comment on that great Vintage snack set that we used for Bridal or baby showers or I would use today for a Tea Party serving the tea and the tea sandwiches and other treats that go with a Tea party - I have several ideas for tea parties I just emailed to family & friends this week about the ideas for different kinds of tea parties. For the one or two that have chips try using a emery board on the rough side then the fine side to take some of the roughness away.

@20:00 party plates / sandwich plates! I used to have a bunch of these, and like you I sold them as 2 sets, they came as 12 set - I picked up my set from a church sale for 2.00 & they were the 'rave' in the early 90s for parties.

The thing you said you would cook chicken on is called a broiler pan and it's used as you said. The slits allow the grease from the meat to drip away. Put a little water in the pan below

I think some have already said those are luncheon plates intended to be able to hold your cup and plate with one hand while filling the plate with the other hand. Those would actually be nice for Thanksgiving.

The brown hooded scarf with the pockets is crocheted. :) It is definitely hand made and I can't believe someone would just throw it away.

Blessings very good finds .True as the other subscriber said the broiler tray use to come with the stoves but not any more and also a solid one so there won't be any spills in the oven they last for ever because of the porcelain finish it has as for they serving trays they are expensive and you can sell them in sets of 6 and make 3 sets but individually they are about 10 to 20 dolors a set. Good luck with your sales 👍. With love from Puerto Rico.
