Thanks everyone for your positive support & love! 🧡 It brings me so much joy to connect with kind hearted people from across the globe. Feel free to leave a comment or question & I'll be more than happy to reply!
Fun Facts about me:
~ I’ve never owned a vehicle (Or Drivers license)
~ Smartphone either
~In 2008 I sold my home in Calgary Alberta & moved over 5000 kilometers to a place I’d never been after deciding life was too short & have been making things up ever since, living free and on my own terms connected to nature. (I'd never seen or heard of sea glass before moving to a road which turns to dirt, then falls into the sea, however its discovery was inevitable as its everywhere!)
~ My first 2 summers on Cape Breton were spent working on a farm, living in a tent next to a cornfield. We had to walk a kilometre to the farmhouse & back everyday for water, showering when it rains or the closest body of water (side note, I learned quickly soap won’t lather with saltwater!).🙃
Those experiences further enhanced my appreciation for life’s simplicities & the importance of living on ones own terms…1000 generations have led to these moments (Long days spent on my knees harvesting are probably why I’m such a good picker!)
~ I'm probably listening to the year"1993" (The music of my youth) although the years which surround it are awesome as well!
~ I’ve never had a resume
~ I'm Left handed (Teaching myself music everything was upside-down!)
~ I spend under $100 on clothing a year. ( Which you might of noticed)
~ I spend $0.00 on takeout food a year however do appreciate the tastes of each and every restaurant chain.
~ Everyday I walk my doggies (off leash by the sea or through the woods) a minimum of 10kms a day. Since moving to Cape Breton we’ve walked the equivalent of earths circumference together without leaving the island! 🌎
~ My 120 year old (one bedroom) home doesn’t have a dryer, or bathtub, or foundation. During the coldest winter chill I’ve gone weeks without running water. It’s “cottage living” year round. A small brook runs behind my home, it’s an ancient game trail once used by indigenous people and despite urbanization any animal imaginable can follow the stream past my window to my amazement…growing up in Montreal the largest undomesticated animal I’d ever encountered was a squirrel.
~ As a youth I wanted to be John Lennon & his words & message have always spoke dearly to me heart.
~ That being said, I live my life like a Beatles song & do my best to “Radiate Everything I Am” without fear & be the change I want to see In the world .
~ Born & raised Anglophone in Montreal, I speak French as well & learned enough Spanish, Croatian & Arabic to get myself into conversations which are over my head but good fun!
~ I don’t eat meat with the exception of when kind neighbors leave a food basket on my front step, then I won’t waste it.
~ In person my excitement level is greatly amplified, no matter the activity.
~ Mostly, If you think I’m passionate about sea glass, you should see me with my children & the special relationship we have. They are my destiny & life’s greatest gift!
~ If you've made it this far theirs's one more thing I wanted you to know however its not easy for me to say:
Every moment I struggle with the Symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome, which might help with understanding why I'm so passionate, have a great memory, a terrible grip & live the life of a sea hermit, safe for my children. (Also always have music on as it helps keep me "out" of my head).
I've such a deep rooted connection to the world around me. Each and every one of you mean so very much to me, I cant thank you enough for your love and positive support!
The world is a better place when we're able to treat a stranger like an old friend and make them feel good about themselves!
Oceans of love all! 🧡
Mikee

It is such a beautiful thing to see your children following after your passion. You are giving your children the desire to see what the ocean has given back... Most kids today would not want to leave the game system. But here are your children traveling , exercising, and learning but best of all sharing their day with brothers and Dad... Thank you for giving hope and adventure for our youth.. Much love LC...

You absolutely made my day with your kind words, thank you!🧡 Spending time with my children is life’s greatest gift and the relationship we share is the sum of all these positive experiences exploring our curiosities outdoors together.🌅 I’m so glad you enjoyed seeing these clips with my children. I promise to make the most of every moment and also do my best to offer the same friendship and mentorship to any child we come across on our adventures.💫 (This past March break at the area, I was tying skates for up to 12 children who showed up hoping we’d be there. Bringing snacks, extra gloves & socks as well…for some reason they couldn’t keep their feet dry!)😆 Hugs my friend! 🧡🧡🧡

What a fun video compilation! Well, hands down, the best find has to be the wonderful times that you spend with your boys! Take care! 🙏❤️

This video was so much fun! Really like the portion of barrel keg. That Capt. Kidd comment caught me so off guard that I fumbled my phone when I burst out laughing. Michael's dollar bill was another surprising moment, it's still in such great condition for a paper bill that's at least 36 years old. Other favs were the amberina bike reflector, the worn flat marble, the perfect grey, the white nugget with indent, the bonfire blue, and the gorgeous fern fossil. Happy beachcombing Mike!
@SeaGlassArchaeology
@SeaGlassArchaeology 2 года назад
Thanks for coming along on the adventures with us my ocean luvn friend! 🧡 I absolutely loved that keg barrel the most as well (so glad you appreciated my humour! 🙃). Looking back on it, that paper bill is quite strange, I did find that modern $10 a few years ago however it’s space aged technology, made to survive anything, perhaps it was someone’s wish dollar? Plenty of people return “home” for summer vacation, which is my area, so many people leave the maritimes to work “out west” (Alberta mostly). This might of belonged to someone since childhood, and brought to my shoreline specifically as a wishful sacrifice, now that I think of it (thanks to you!) 💫 Hugs my dear friend! 🧡

(Although anywhere people lived out in the maritimes rubbish was discarded into the sea!).💯 I can’t wait for the next video adventure as well, your love and support means so much to me! 💫 Hugs my dear friend! 🧡

Thanks so much for your kind words Ashli! 🌅 I’m so glad to hear you went beachcombing for the first time (and I’m glad it’s somewhere warm!) However sorry to hear you didn’t find any sea glass this time. I always say “peace of mind” is what I seek the most, everything else is a bonus! 💫 Most sea glass is the result of generations past discarding without understanding of the environmental repercussions.💯 My shoreline walks are bountiful as the ocean was acceptable for rubbish disposal over a long timeframe. While the beaches in Florida are quite beautiful without this old world action it’s difficult to find sea glass in a specific area. I’m so glad to meet you, please keep me posted on your beach walks! 🌅 Hugs my new friend! 🧡

Mikee, hi! When is the best time to visit Cape Breton for the purpose of sea glass hunting?
@SeaGlassArchaeology
@SeaGlassArchaeology 2 года назад
“When you never have to leave!” 🧡💯🧡 For sea glass hunting I’d say spring before the sea glass beaches become “exhausted”. Each winter gives most beaches a time to cycle and cycle which tends to provide the best yields! Bring your mittens and warm boots! Lol even in June sometimes! Lol

Just wondering why you find so many marbles on the beach in your area. Did they play marble games on the beach many years ago?
@SeaGlassArchaeology
@SeaGlassArchaeology 2 года назад
Great question Elizabeth! 💯 The primary reason being because storm sewers empty into the sea out my way. Secondary reason being children using marbles as slingshot ammunition where I hunt! I actually have a video on sea marbles posted to my page & gave a virtual speech on sea marbles (RU-vid: PEI Sea glass festival) and promise to speek more on sea marbles in upcoming Beachcombing adventures.💫 Hugs Elizabeth, thanks for this! 🧡
