I get so depressed watching your videos because I love Florida, I want to move there some day but I am stuck in Wisconsin. I have been to Florida and all over the Caribbean many times and have been collecting shells for almost 50 years. Please keep making your videos, some day I will definitely be there.

Sooo... I finally get to share this with you. I have watched you find hinged spiny jewel boxes forever it seems, and I wanted to find one so badly... well...I FINALLY found not one, not two, but FOUR hinged spiny jewel boxes on our vacation to Anna Maria Island about a month ago. Yay me !! 😊 Also, on my bucket list of shells to find was a hinged calico clam and hinged sunray venus clam..I found them both !! I was over the moon happy to find them. So with my sharing, I want to thank you for the videos. They are sooo informative (and interesting), so thank you for the time you spend in making them. Regards from Southeastern Tennessee..I hope to make it back down to your area again soon.

My daughter and I finally made it from Ohio to Sanibel about 3 weeks ago. We stayed close to the Beach Road beach area. She found six wentletraps in the ocean side shelf of the tide pool close to the walkway! I found two there as well. Lighthouse beach was so messy we found lots of shells, but no wentletraps. 😍🐚

I've only lived here 5 years, so I'm learning! It took me a few years to find wentletraps here and I was sad when the beach changed and I couldn't find any. It's shifted, but I'm sure a few more visits will help me get my bearings again.

I’m glad you have good luck down here because I don’t think the 10,000 islands like me. I travel from North Central Florida twice a year to go shelling. I find the regulars nothing special. I am in Naples right now. I went to Boca grand today and found a lot of black scallops and that’s about it. Tomorrow, I will try to stay close to Naples. I love finding the tiny ones too.😊❤

Not all beaches are created equally! I almost never shell in Naples, unless it's on Keewaydin. I was there on Friday and found tons of shells!

I feel sad watching this video. I'm German and we used to travel all over the US for almost 24 years. Many times we spent Easter in Florida, staying on Estero Island and have stayed on Sanibel Island too. Such a beautiful place and I miss Florida.

I found a one tooth simnia several years ago and I have never been able to identify it before!!!! Thank you for solving my mystery! I love love love the tinies and micros, but they are so much harder to find information on. I learn so much from you. Thank you once again!

You are so right about finding info on the smaller shells. First you have to figure out is it a small shell, or a shell that only gets so big, then it's a rabbit hole of other shells that look similar. It's so fun though. The dove snails are quickly growing on me too!

Little plastic zip bags come in very handy when you are shelling. Not only do these prevent shells from getting lost, bur also give great protection because of the air inside.

I'm kind of hunting for something with a flip top lid. I usually use a Rubbermaid of some sort, but I have to take the whole lid off. I wish I had something I could flip open and closed easily.

Hi Sharmon! (I emailed you about the water shoes) this is exactly what I needed to see! My sister said that we will be going to this beach when I am there in August! We both have chronic pain and EDS, and osteoarthritis. CRYSTAL!!! They are doing so much construction I can't get to the beach down there! I hope you can come September. I know so many of the crews have been working hard to get people back into their homes.

A question for you. I've been shelling at Honeymoon Beach and at several beaches in the Sanibel area. Several times I have found Kitten Paw shells that seem to be fossilized. They have fronts and backs and seem to be melded into one piece. They are clearly not living, and they feel much, much heavier than normal Kitten Paws. Is it possible that I am right in thinking they are fossilized? Thanks. Your videos are a regular part of every Sunday evening!

I myself don't take those closed kitten paws. If I can't open them, I don't know if they are alive, so I leave them. I have indeed heard that the closed ones are fine to keep but I don't. If I ever do hear or figure out what is going on with them I'll be sure to share!

I bought reef friendly suntan lotion ( a different major brand) and shared it on a cruise. Those that wore it got sunburned in the places they used it. They didn't get burned in the spots they missed!

I actually need reading glasses, but my eyes haven't failed me yet! Well, except for that one time I missed a wentletrap while I was on the beach. At least it ended up in my shell bag 😃 And my wedding band needs to be repaired. I'm hoping to stop at another jeweler this weekend!

Those coffee grounds are just something that tells me there may be wentletraps around. Not a guarantee, but one of the signs they could be on the beach.

I'm 20 years old and live in Southern California, and I'm planning on going to Sanibel Islands for beach combing, do you have any recommendations for places to go besides Sanibel Island? I'd love to hear your recommendations and thoughts on anything else I should do while I'm there! I've been collecting shells for years now, but there isn't anything here like the shells I've seen in your videos! Also thank you for making such amazing videos and sharing your findings, I always enjoy watching these videos to get into a beach mood!
