Hey Retro, thanks for checking out the expanded version of Neophyte! The game is gonna release on Steam for $2.99 on August 31. It'll be in early access for 1-3 months after that mainly so I can dial in the game balance based on community feedback. The itch version is currently disabled until August 31, but it will be kept up to date with the Steam version (except for acheivements) so previous buyer's won't need to rebuy it on Steam.
I like how the "clockwork" enemies move in tune with the ticking of the clock. That's a really nice touch. It's a shame that level doesn't have a musical theme that would include the ticking of the clock, that would make it even cooler.
Absolutely would go BONKERS if you did more of this. It seems a lot more varied than VS without all the meta currency unlocks and gives you a chance to really have extremely varied runs, similar to TBOI. It seems to be a wonderful action roguelike. Opinion for the game to be made better, Reto skin.
The dev just gets it. Abilities cross-synergize, with spells, stats, and each other. Runs are succinct. Choices matter, and are interesting. I think this is my favorite game in the genre.
I live for the moments when Reto discovers a random new mechanic or thing in the game. Like rerolling the stuff on the ground, its not something most games would let you do, but this game was like "Sure! Reroll all the things!"
I am consistently impressed that you can play well with good reactions and use of new mechanics while also explaining yourself. I guess you have practiced that skillset quite a bit. It's pretty cool. Also, I really like the art of this game. Damage values do not get in the way much but are still legible. The player is easy to visually track. UI indicators are central screen for quick visual checks. Movement animations look good. Use of contrast does not distract from the action. There are so many things the developer has done well here. I really like that the enemies don't drop currency that the player has to collect. That aspect of other arena games punishes wide-damaging builds. Also rerolling the presented choices is such a nice feature that allows the player a bit more agency than without. I wish something of this quality would come to Switch.
This game looks like it has a ton of potential. Also I really don't see the similarity with vampire survivor. No shade at that game but aiming your spells kinda makes a big difference. Also having CDs and mana to manage. Totally different.
Played the original demo version when you did the original video. I was *very* addicted! think I played it for a good few hours xD Super excited to see it getting a full release, even more so that it's improved in a way that seems really fun too! Defo play some more when it comes out, reto! ^-^
@regalpigeon3414 definitely going to be getting this game, i like how the reroll system works even with spells etc that you get from the chest, that's definitely new to me from other games. Also great build on your second run :3
Anyone that says this is inspired by Vampire Survivors has not played any actual video game before. And yeah from the video this does look heavily inspired by D3 down from the skills and even the upgrades just with the mix of "Roguelite" elements. Looks neat and will probably pick it up once it fully releases on steam. If it's in early access on steam still then I'll most likely wait a bit, too many games come out on early access and takes ages to actually get anywhere.
Honestly this reminds me of Wizard of Legends more than Vampire Survivors The dev just needs to add more of what he/she is doing, more variety of spells, items, enemies, synergies ... You know more rogue-like stuff
They overlap and expire individually. If you kill 50 enemies you get 50 stacks, but then they all go away in 3.5 seconds even if you get another kill. The alternative is "stacks up to 5 times", which would mean each new trigger adds one stack and refreshes the whole stack timer, like with the lightning power he had earlier.
I honestly will buy ALL of the games that are in some ways itching that mad itch for rpg style progression rouguelite wave based game play i didn't realize I was a HEAVY addict for. But it makes sense I mean roguelite progression was THE thing that I loved about Risk of Rain and Rogue Legacy as well. Never figured this wave based business was my jam! Please hook us up with videos of any other great games that are in any way close to that style game ^_^ Trouble is for some reason I really don't like the roguelike variants where you have no power or quest progression.
The background music at 1:20 sounds a lot like the kaiba single duel music from the old pc games ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c79aQbhizAA.html
Not deaf, just refresh. If that doesn't help, check your audio connection (cable/bluetooth), replug if needed. If that doesn't help, turn your computer off and on again. If that doesn't help, check the drivers. If that doesn't help, visit a doctor. If that doesn't help, try using counterspell as someone might've cast dome of silence or similar spell in your area and you're inside the dome while your computer speakers are outside of it or vice versa. If that still doesn't help, try calling for an exorcist, there may be a ghost living in your room that steals your ability to hear as long as you're near it's vicinity, and it's most likely bound to one of the objects inside the room. If that still doesn't help, then it could be an SCP that rids only your version of the video of the sound to torture you and slowly drive you insane, so you're basically screwed so have a nice day and may you rest in peace.
@@LordDragox412 I appriciate it, I cast a spell around my room and suddenly a demon appeard out of nowhere so we had an epic battle but the demon was stronger so I had to pull out the big guns so I cast a spell that when he attacks me the demon hears the rickroll sound in his head. And then demon finally got insane and blow up. After that the demons body parts flew around the room and strangely, confetti came out of the demon that I can't clean up somehow so thats the next thing I want to ask that how to I remove demonic confetti from my room? I appriciate the answer: Producer of the famous series called Breaking Bad
This was in development before vampire survivors was released, and potentially before vampire survivors was even in development. I played this in January. Please watch literally the first minute of the video before making a comment like this.
