Spread triads are an amazing asset for writing songs and riffs that sound more open, more harmonic and more melodic. Learn this technique and play them in your solos and compositions like the great guitarists Pat Metheny, Eric Johnson, Dominic Miller (Sting), Plini and lots of other guitarists that already discovered the awesome spread triads.

Very very good lesson. There aren't many teachers on youtube who understand music so fundamentally they can present it so concisely. I was on my fifth video when I gave up and started to analyze arpeggio charts to do this myself and your video came up. I'm not really into very technical music but I've been playing since 16 and my ears are getting tired. I don't know how this only has 14k views. Thank you!

On the bottom four string of the C spread triad for G/C.. You can use the E note on the 2nd string.. instead of stretching all the way down on the E note of the 3rd string..

If anyone, like myself, got super confused at 5:16 when a "simple chord progression" shows up : we work up to this point learning triads in C major, and basically practising the C major scale. But then this chord progression comes in, and it's got nothing to do with C major... I was confused right of the bat as to why that Bm didn't have the diminished 5th I had just practised playing. Turns out, if I'm not mistaken, that it's a chord progression in B m Phrygian mode (!!) because, it sounds nice I suppose, but would have been useful to say it. Although it was also great to be thrown off balance and having to work it out...but maybe that'll help someone, and if I'm wrong, it's not Phrygian, I'd love to be corrected.

At 12:35, the 5th was dropped 2 octaves, not one. It is also not clear what the definition of inversion is when considering spread triads.

Good tutorial. However a couple of mistakes: 6:44 last chord should be at the 10th fret not the second. Also 7:08 editing fail: wrong audio synced with video.

@@QJamTracks So glad to be in touch with you. Been working on the spread triads. Never really used them before. As I work through your fingerings I've noticed there are alternative fingerings that can be used in lieu of the big stretches. Don't get me wrong, I like the big stretches but just interesting to deduce the options. You're a good teacher!

7:20 - 7:32 there is a mistake in the diagram is for F and G triad.. if F is the root in the F triad then it should be depicted as 5th string 8th fret instead of interpreting C in the 10th fret on the 4th string in the F triad.. same thing goes for the G.. It creates confusion..
