I don’t think it hurts but I have also caught tons without it. I think maybe when things are slow it’s a way to up your odds a bit.

Well despite how many fish declined. The results he got compared to what the best salmon anglers get was decent.... Obviously this many fish would decline no matter he was fishing or else people would be catching loaaaaads of fish.

Lubosh Camber Salmon, including kings like these, are technically supposed to not feed in freshwater, but there is a deep seeded feeding instinct that is difficult for them then squelch. Especially, when they are fresh from the sea like these fish in the video. They were only about 4 miles form the salt. As they get further upstream, the feeding instinct fades but then there's a territorial response that kicks in and salmon will bite more out of aggression. You mentioned cohos...they are often the most "bitey" salmon when in freshwater.

is that a spinner blade with a rubber squid skirt tied inline with some beads and a hook? ive never seen kings so reactive to a spinner but ive never seen a set up like that. we usually use Spin-N-glows here in AK or Mepps or Blue Fox Vibrax

Which weight were you using with the camera? It comes with 3, and it seems like the smallest was too light. Also, how deep were you?
