I think the worst one to me was the superior iron man theory. People were gawking at the obvious woman with massive thighs and a feminine hour glass body in the multiverse of madness trailer and they were still insisting in their lives that it was Tom cruise
That theory was really stupid and made no sense, the theory is that robin wasn't actually killed but was turned into the joker, even though we see jared leto talking to harleen before she is harley and the movie explicitly shows that harley was an accomplice in robins murder
I think it was Den of Nerds RU-vid channel that said Al Pacino was going to show up as Mephisto in Wandavision because Paul Bettany said he got to work with an actor he admired so they reached for Al Pacino looking back now Bettany was obviously trolling fans
The two most ridiculous theories I saw during the Infinity War era was that Steve Rogers either had or was the Soul Stone because his eyes were slightly yellow when he was holding back Thanos, but the one that really baffled me was that Hawkeye was going to kill Thanos, take the Infinity Gauntlet, and be the MCU's next final boss. WAT!?!? HOW AND WHY????
that fucking THANOS acronym thing with the like Tesseract, H-?, Aether, Necklace, Orb, and Sceptre and people like "what's the H stand for?" that was so stupid
WandaVision was the beginning of the end for the MCU fandom. Once they realized that all their theories they just wasted eight weeks on essentially amounted to fanfiction and everything after Endgame wasn't going to be non-stop cameos and crossovers, they started throwing tantrums and dedicated their lives to ruining people's fun with superhero movies.
It also doesn't help that Marvel was making whatever they could to meet the insane amount of pressure Disney put on them for their streaming platform. But to be fair, Marvel didn't help themselves micromanaging certain projects the way they did. cough Multiverse of Madness cough
i remember seeing a theory that wolverine was in Age of Ultron because of a scene where Hawkeye uses a clip holding multiple arrows that looks like claws
I bet ScreenRant came up with the Thanos vs Wolverine theory, the Ultron returns theory, and the Natasha is pregnant theory! ScreenRant be coming up with the most outlandishly wild theories!!!
I love how we’ve come back full circle with the infinity war/endgame wolverine theories since people think the portal in the trailer of deadpool is them joining the endgame fight
To be extremely fair for the tasm 2 venom theory, i do remember an alternate version of one of the trailers showing the venom symbiote alongside the vulture wings and doc ock arms
The Ultron in Endgame theories were some of the most mind numbing. There were people making several videos just about this one theory and it was just sad.
There was another dumb theory that Yelena was replacing Natasha in Infinity War and at some point between this and Endgame they switched again. The “evidence” was that Natasha was wearing Yelena’s vest and she had blonde hair. And since in the comics Yelena had plastic surgery to look like Natasha, people thought that Black Widow movie was going to reveal this.
God can you imagine if that Black Widow theory was somehow true, and had she not died in Endgame the fetus would've just respawned inside of her? So fucking weird, bro.
To be fair A good majority of people thought Mephisto would be in WandaVision because of Erik Voss Heck it’s so well known that even Erik himself made jokes about it
I love Voss but his new theory that is driving me insane is that Deadpool is a fourth dimensional being similar to the watcher because of his fourth wall breaking.
Oh yeah I’m not a fan of that theory. Although I kind of see his logic. I mean she hulks basically a god who’s probably strong than the watcher based on her god awful final episode. And if captain carter is in the same league as the watcher I guess anyone can be
I blame the 2010s and meme culture a bit I think it was better when deadpool thought he Can break the 4th wall because he was insane instead of actually doing it
I can’t really blame people for hoping Wolverine would be in Infinity War. We were all so hyped over the Disney-Fox merger at the time that it was fun to hope for the best. Even if we all knew deep down that it was pointless to believe it.
I remember one for No Way Home being that Doctor Strange was an impostor because he agreed to do the spell. That’s it, that’s the evidence. Not like he has a history of doing reckless or unorthodox choices to protect those he cares about lololol
Venom actually was in one of the trailers, the part where it had the room with Vulture's wings and Doc Ock's arms as it was cut out in the theatrical release with Rhino's suit taking its place. In the movie when Harry was going through the archives there was a file under 'Venom Storage 7-U' so I guess he was going to be in the movie but in the background.
Nah I remember when Endgame was coming out, I kept hearing theories about Ultron based on some red lights in the hallway Hawkeye was running down- crazy times
There was this godawful theory that far from home took place in the soul stone, who tf thought that was actually true? I rember bullying the hell outta people who said that
Oh, I remember that one and thinking it was stupid even back then. Like, it's a foregone conclusion Spidey would come back in Endgame and FFH would deal with the fallout from Peter's side of the Marvel Universe. Did anyone doubt that!?
I remember this one theory, which I think made it into a CollegeHumor/Dorkly article on "Top Infinity War trailer theories!" or something It posits that the shot of Thanos punching Iron Man from the trailer was Pepper in the Iron Man suit, who had it on to protect Spider-Man and the punch that knocked her down caused her to miscarry the baby she was pregnant with. Yeah. (Was she even pregnant in Infinity War or did Morgan happen after Tony got back from space in Endgame? Whatever, it was a dumb theory and it's funny to think back on!)
I remember in one of the Amazing Spiderman 2 trailers there was a black moving blob that the mystery man walks past. I don't know if it was really well made edit or an international trailer or what, but I do remember that vividly
I wouldn't say deluded, there was a lot of evidence and he was even involved in the comic arc the show was based off. Honestly he should have showed up its just the showrunner knew nothing about scarlet witch.
People legitimately thinking Ned’s grandma is the same girl from Sam Raimis spiderman 2 is probably the most braindead marvel theory I’ve ever heard to this day.
I remember back before that Infinity War came out (yeah 6 years ago), some people thought that Thanos would be beaten in that movie and that "Avengers 4" would have Nebula be the main villain.
To be fair with the TASM2 Venom theory, I believe we also saw what appeared to be the symbiote in trailer footage of the Oscorp vault, with Ock's tentacles, Vultrue's wings etc. It was remved from the film in the end but in that scene we did see this rippling black orb in that scene that seemed to be based on how the symbiote looked in Secret Wars.
I cant remember where I saw these 2 theories or how popular they got. The first one was that Ultron was in infinity because Ebony Maw and Kull Obsidians ship had a similar colour scheme to Ultron. The second was that Black Widow in her movie was actually from Endgame and travelled back in time, because theres a glimpse of her holding the Red Room programming antidote in the trailer and it looked like the Pym particles
The thought of Mephisto being in WandaVision or No Way Home actually made a lot of sense seeing as how the comics that both of those projects were based on had him heavily involved in them. Therefore this does not belong on this list
I remember when people went crazy because Google was saying that Hugh Jackman was in Avengers Endgame. Some people were losing their minds because that was when reports first started that Disney had bought Fox
JOIN THE 1K SUB CLUB, WE'RE ALMOST THERE. i need to replace pinned comment with something, last time it was about lego nightwing being someone's bisexual awakening
I still think the mephisto theory for Wanda vision made sense, one of the biggest supporting reasons was that Agatha is very connected to mephisto, so even her reveal as the big bad didn't really discredit mephisto. I didn't mind him not being in there, but I think it made sense.
Actually (🤓☝️ moment), Mephisto WAS kinda planned in WandaVision. Señor Scratchy was gonna turn into a demon of some sort. And there were multiple things leading to him, so it wasn’t SUPER far fetched, but it got less likely and people wouldn’t let it down. ANDDD, Mephisto is most likely gonna be in IronHeart btw.
Why the hell are they giving ironheart her own series, I literally forgot she existed. Also why is mephisto gonna show up in the ironheart series of all places
0:31 I remember this early prediction of Avengers Infinity War back in early 2017. That Peggy Carter , Quicksilver, Hawkeye, Antman, The Wasp, and even Lady Death( the one Thanos wanted to impress in the comics ). I can't remember what channel did that. But I kid you not that was something they said.
1:25 It started because of the line in episode 2 "The Devil's In The Details" I believed that theory, until Episode 4 lol, By then it was quite clear that wasn't gonna happen
6:55 theres a deleted scene of amazing spiderman2, where that mysterious hat guy that talks with harry osborn and lizard in post credits of amazing spiderman1 and 2, in the deleted scene this hat guy walks in oscorp lab room that has dr octopus tentacles vulture wings and etc and in the deleted scene theres a venom/symbionte room too, because its a deleted scene so yes venom doesnt exist on amazing spiderman universe
I don't think the mephisto theories and aerospace engineers theories were stupid. I think Marvel was just blue balling us. (Then again, i never saw these oreospace engineer theories, so take that with a pinch of salt. But my point with Mephisto still stands) Considering we used to theorize that no way home was inspired by one more day, who wouldn't think Mephisto would be involved? Also i think the theory about the Wolverine scarings were an easter egg, not hinting of an appearance.
The better theory a few believed was Nightmare was the one responsible for Wandavision and was originally planned to be until Derrickson & Marvel had creative issues regarding Doctor Strange 2. Thor’s death is also believable given how Russos said everything shown in the trailer was only from the film's beginning which also features Iron Man, Cap & Thor approaching Thanos which takes place at the final battle.
The Mephisto thing if it was legit it would have been a pretty stupid involvement, which is very in line with his significance so the theory would've held water to me.
Bro the most annoying and dumbest one imo was the infinity stones spell out Thanos and that's how the heros will find out about him. God those dumbasses drove me crazy 🤣🤣🤣
The funniest thing about people thinking the aerospace engineer could be Mr Fantastic or Beast is that Wandavision's sequel/continuation movies (Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels) had appearances from Mr Fantastic and Beast in them respectively I honestly wouldn't even doubt it if Kevin Feige had those characters thrown into those movies just to troll people over the Wandavision theories lmao
Ah yes, the Mephistopheles theory. I remember it with the channel New Rockstars that does theories and breakdowns for speculations and fun. It’s was around the time when we were hearing news about Disney made a business merge with 20th Century (because of course they did) who has the film rights with the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters. So yeah, I do see why there was hype but not realizing it was too early business wise.
That Thanos vs Wolverine theory. Look, it was 2018. After almost a decade of Marvel basically treating the X-Men like dirt and even tried to replace them with the Inhumans because Disney didn’t have the film rights to them since 20th Century Fox had the rights to the X-Men for so long, only for the studio to get bought out by Disney themselves and finally give the X-Men a chance at being in the MCU, and the hype that Infinity War generated at the time, could you blame them for thinking that Wolverine was gonna show up in Infinity War for some reason?
I mean to be fair I was made fun of for like a year by so many people for saying I thought that Tobey and Andrew would show up in Tom’s spider-man 3 so I don’t think a lot of these theories are that crazy
The character brought in as the aerospace engineer (Monica Rambeau) is the first female Captain Marvel in the comics actually, so the amount of emphasis that was put on her makes sense, especially when you consider that WV is kinda her MCU origin story. Her connection to the C. Marvel name is also why she’s heavily featured as a head lead in The Marvel’s for anyone who wasn’t aware.
lmaoo i remember seeing the video with the goddamn infamous red arrow pointing at thanos’ face with the wrinkles and then the word “wolverine?!?!” in giant red letters n i was just like 😑😑 brain dead content just being shat out for views
