People complaining that Paige "should just move on" don't seem to understand that she's not only motivated to be honest, but says at 1:45 how the people watching live on DGN are all talking about the violation that they saw. That's why she can't "just move on" despite her card mates not wanting to second it. If she "just moves on", it puts her in a very awkward place because then people on DGN who saw it can accuse her of being a cheater and not fighting for the correct outcome. The only cognitive thought from the people thinking "she's a drama queen who can't just move on" is that they see 1 person vs 4 people, and that the one person won't submit to the collective opinion of the other 4 people, and is thus a "drama queen" for not "letting it go". Also 1 "angry person" vs. 4 people who aren't "angry", which automatically makes the "angry" person wrong. This is all extremely low level /surface level cognitive thought.

I am still not sure this right. As the rules for putting area (806.01)state A. Any throw made from within 10 meters of the target, as measured from the front of the lie to the base of the target, is a putt. B. After having released a putt, the player must demonstrate full control of balance behind the marker disc before advancing toward the target. A player who fails to do so has committed a stance violation and receives one penalty throw. The rule the commentator talks about, which refers to balance points behind the marker are in the stance section (802.07) A. If the lie has been marked by a marker disc, then when the disc is released, the player must: 1. Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the lie; and, 2. Have no supporting point closer to the target than the rear edge of the marker disc; and, 3. Have all supporting points in-bounds. I agree 802.07 wasn't violated, but I think 806.01 probably was.

@gregrussell1787
@gregrussell1787 Год назад
I had this thought the other day. What if everyone in every sport was actually honest. None of this arguing about whose ball it is when you know you touched it last. No rushing to the line of scrimmage before the review booth can call a penalty. No rolling around grabbing your leg like you were injured. I would love it, but sadly a significant number of people feel like it's "part of the game". I like what Paige did there. The "I feel like I should warn all of you" was in jest, but also partially was true and shoes and shows how she really wanted it to be fair. And as it turned out it seems there wasn't even a penalty, which just shines a huge light on how the rule enforcement is kinda busted in disc golf.

To battle cheating? There is not currently a cheating issue in disc golf. Refs work fine in enclosed matches between two teams/individuals, or for scoring the field in it's entirety. When you assign two different marshals to lead and chase card, players are bound to be treated differently and every call will be final. I'd rather it be seconded by biased players than a random person thinking that a foot was planted an inch out of legal stance and altering the result of a tourney.

I like Paige but it annoyed me when she tried to call out the other players. It’s fine if you want to try to be honorable and call yourself out but don’t try to issue warnings to others. That was incredibly pretentious and shocking that she even went that far. Definitely lost a little bit of respect. Having said all that, it’s absolutely ridiculous there aren’t referees on every hole. @@samhowl1152 we could argue about a "stumble" however I personally always sidestep as part of my putt unless I'm straddleputting for whatever reason, this is obviously done in a controlled fashion unlike a stumble however the rule does NOT explicitly state that the balance must be uninterrupted from the moment of release I do believe "FULL" control can be reestabilished by simply standing still a moment before advancing. As the rule is written I do believe any credible english dictionary would agree with my conclusion but I do concede that it might be stretching the intent of the rulemaker so we might se an updated wording in the future if it becomes an issue, just like we saw the wording changed for marking discs so that they now also have to be "identifiable". Edit: *clarification*: if the rule said the player had to "immidiately display full control of balance" or "display uninterrupted control of balance" I would agree with you however that is NOT the case it simply states full control must be displayed "before advancing".

I mean tbh I don't know anyone in mpo who'd continue to fight for their own penalty after all her card mates said they were watching but didn't see it ... But respect to her card mates for holding their own as well, I mean if I was playing for money, I'd like to think that I'd have to see something to make me doubt it wasn't a legal before I'd second it. But in the heat of the moment with money on the line and potentially career implications. No one on her card was willing to give her that extra stroke, that goes to show just how clean it all was, and I've yet to see evidence in a video she definitely touched the tree, yet alone that it was infront of her lie. Like I think this is a situation where everyone thought it would be lying to change their minds on the call, card mates didn't see it, and she felt she did, she called it but no one else could in good conscious second it. And frankly I think the second rule is important even when calling it on yourself. However, if you are calling it on yourself, then I think there should be allowed a video review. Since frankly if you think you messed up you probably know better than others. But. I think the second is needed so you it's harder to deliberately take a few extra strokes when your friend is in second or something and you think they deserve the win. But I guess you could just dnf then instead. But frankly IDK it's a weird situation.

Also we really do need to call stuff like this otherwise rules are pointless. But these top cards should always have people walkking with them to call things like time, step putts and so on. There is a reason so few calls are made and its because it can create animosity amongst the card members and screw with everyones game which makes it not worth. How to Handle (FFR -J): If one makes a mistake of play, one must WAIT until a different player on the card calls the mistake. A) If uncalled, player adds strokes normally. B) IF CALLED, one must wait until a second player seconds the call. Add strokes according to the rules of play. NEVER SAY ANYTHING! lol Personally, I make a face like I narrowly avoided getting hit by a reckless child on a bicycle. If someone says something, I'll own it immediately and REQUEST someone back them up!! lolol -J P.S. She caught herself from snagging her awesome shirt against the tree. Watch it again (at regular speed, in context of the hole including 20 seconds previous). Spirit of the rule vs. law of the letter sort of situation... Props to her for saying something as it shows that she is a true person of play. Pierce was incorrect. She did nothing wrong. The relevant PDGA rules are as follows: ------- 802.07 A. If the lie has been marked by a marker disc, then when the disc is released, the player must: 1.Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the lie; and, 2. Have no supporting point closer to the target than the rear edge of the marker disc; and, 3. Have all supporting points in-bounds. 806.01 A. QA-STA-2: Can I hold onto a branch or other object behind my lie while putting? Holding on to something behind your lie for support is not prohibited by the rules, provided that the object is in-bounds. --------- She was well within the rules to put her hand on a tree behind her lie to maintain balance. How you establish your balance is irrelevant (except you can't be helped by another person) so long as you don't establish it beyond your lie. You could putt, then do a back flip, perform seven somersaults, and come to a halt thirty feet behind your lie. Establishing balance isn't about style points, as in gymnastics, but rather a requirement that you NOT establish balance AHEAD of your lie. This prevents shenanigans such as a player taking a leap forward to shorten their putt.
