Axalphorn is a mountain in the Bernse Alps, from Axalp it is quite a short hike, up to 2,5 hours undemanding hike via marked route to the ridge, from there up the the highest point of the Axalphorn there's the exposed part which must be climbed, little scrambling through solid rocks, T5 I.UIAA max. .On the other side there's the lower summit called Westgipfel, from the Axalphorn looks Westgipfel really beautiful and scenic, direct route is very exposed.
The views from Axalphorn are extraordinary, down below there's perfect view of the Jewel of Axalp- Hinterburgseeli with it's azur blue crystal clear water, undernearth there's Lake Brienz. High above it from Brienzer Rothorn going all the way to Harder Kulm in Interlaken - Brienzergrat is drawing the viewiers attention the most.
This hike I recommending for those, as an alternative to Brienzer Rothorn, the neighbour peak on the other side of the lake. The views are almost as good but in the end much more quiet up here.
Hike can be extended with a visit by the lake Hinterburgsee on the way back to Axalp.
