Axial Wraith Spawn RC Rock Racer Review and First Impressions! 

Yeah! Has a great fan base although I will admit, had to start modification straight away because of that battery placement. Fun truck!

The battery access in THE back was not Good at all :/ , and i stripped the wheel hex on One of THE wheels :/ and cant finde replacment that send to Sweden :/

There's no way in my opinion you'll regret that Bomber. That's actually one of the best rock racers out there that needs the least modification. Matter of fact it may be the best. There will be people that disagree but there's not a stock Lasernut or RYFT that's gonna compete. And I love the Wendigo but it's slower and a higher CG. Think that would be a great choice.

Thank you. If you're interested in a great out of the box, even competition ready crawler and climber go with the Enduro Ecto. If you have the coin and are just going to do recreational crawling the TRX-4 Bronco 2021 is fantastic. I did videos on both. If you want budget friendly I'd go with the TRX-4 Sport if you don't like the Ecto (over say an Axial SCX10 iii Base Camp) but this Spawn is a rock racer. In its price point the redcat Wendigo is great. But again for a bit more the Axial Bomber is awesome. And hit subscribe because I'm about to drop the video for the Losi Hammer Rey. But whatever you do skip the RYFT unless you have patience and deep pockets. Thanks so much for the feed back. I actually did a full rebuild on that Spawn and it turned out great. Love it. And it to will get a video but you could've bought 3 cars for how much I spent to get it the way I like it. Completely custom now. Thanks again for the comment!

@@redvikinghobbies You mentioned one that I am eyeing right now. The Ecto looks like it might fit the budget better than some others but I'm not against saving money up longer and just get something more capable out of the box. The Ecto caught my attention because of the upgrades that can be done to it, but most things can be upgraded anyway.

It can absolutely run on nimh and is about 100 mm longer just in its wheelbase. Thanks for the question!

The Wraith Spawn. The RYFT was beset with all kinds of problems from the start. Many people had binding issues, the car is too light for 3 or 4s without running an anti-rollbar, the hex hub doesn't fit the inner wheel dimensions tight enough causing the wheels to strip, and there are aftermarket parts to fix this but as a Ready to Run it simply isn't. It was also advertised as beginner to intermediate. I have two and can tell you that the RYFT in my opinion was the worst RTR release of 2020-21. I can't think of another car that reported as many issues or frustrations from users than the RYFT did. The Wraith and Wraith Spawn are solid vehicles with affordable aftermarket parts everywhere and a fun car straight out of the box. The biggest issue is battery access. You'll either need to do some cutting or replace the body or deal with it but there's a ton of work arounds for that. But out of the box RTR is a lot of fun. However, if you can afford a RYFT and want a rock racer/bouncer you should be buying the Axial Bomber! It is the best Rock Racer for the price and there is a special edition either out now or on its way. The Axial Bomber is 3s and brushless ready, has a two speed, has decent rims and tires, comes with lights, is low cg, and would only require an esc motor swap to out power the RYFT but it's ready to go out of the box for the RYFT price or lower. It also shares Wraith parts and other than stepping up into a Mojave or UDR or Super Baja Rey is definitely worth every penny. So if you can afford the RYFT buy the Bomber. I'd only recommend the RYFT to someone who wants to do the kit and doesn't mind investing a lot in Vanquish or Vitavon. If you want to compare another rock racer to the Wraith Spawn price range buy the Redcat Wendigo. It's shockingly good for the price and a tough truck. Both the Spawn and Wendigo have huge fan bases but the Wraith dominates it in aftermarket parts which is why I think it's still around. But I would go Bomber first, and then Wraith Spawn. After that the Wendigo. I know my picture is me holding a RYFT, and I like the car now that I fixed them but I can't in good conscience recommend them. Have fun out there! Thanks for the question

How did you do with the battery tray and do you have a lot of rollover?

I've seen a lot of them with the body panels and just love the look I want to turn it into a badass crawler. The body roll is terrible and will need fixed ASAP

Same. Already have the aluminum all around, high cleance links, better shocks, steel steering linkage, aluminum servo horn, beadlock wheels, carbon driver delete, skid plate and diff covers...and some internals...

You'll LOVE the Capra! Phenomenal car. If you're looking at a TRX4 also look at SCX-10 III Gladiator WITH PORTALS. The Team Associated Element Enduros are Great Rigs or the Gen8V2 AXE edition. But if you're really crawling, which it sounds like you are, a Vanquish VS410.
