Axminster Cyclone, Laguna Cyclone or Felder AF16? Why did we buy and full run through or the system

Felder AF16 Dust Extractor run through - Why did we buy this over the Axminster & Laguna Cyclone?
A full run through of our system, why we chose the Felder over the other two units and why we think this is the best option for us.
Here is a link to the "Cycology" page from Laguna giving you a crash course in dust extraction terminology, its really worth a look and it also has links to all of the performance curve charts. www.lagunatool...

Informative thanks, would also be interested in a video on your Gibbs Sandtech sander there is very limited info on those machines or similar online or how they perform. Finishing is very important and time-consuming part of woodworking and anything to make it more efficient is most welcome.

Thanks for watching. I'll see what I can sort out, it's a great machine and saves no end of time but it wasn't cheap! Anything specific you would like to know?

@@TheNaturalWorkshop look forward to that. I just work small currently on art/craft work, where the quality of the finishing makes significant impact. Currently I use ebay cheap 6" versions of flap sanding brush which have the combination of brush and sandpaper, where I have found I use 320 and 400 grit anything smaller destroys the contours. Then occasionally the Kirjes inflatable sanders for the edges and some gentle contours, again just the fine grits. That sander looks like the steroids version of my buffer polisher. It's 1400 rpm and sometimes use my drill as I want slower speeds for delicate intricate work. What I would be interested in seeing is where it sits in your finishing process? For my bobbin and disc sander I use 80 and 120grit, (don't have belt one yet). Then go random orbital and flap wheels for finer grits. Then sanding sealer, fine sand, lacquer buff and wax, all takes a lot of time so any insight to make it more efficient without loosing quality would be good. I'd love to just slap on a coat of polyurethane and be done but there's more to it than that for a quality finish.

How would you find this with a cnc router just in my home workshop for MDF DUST

Hi Dave, I think it would work really well. You could probably get away with the AF14 to be honest if the runs are small and thats all you want it for. For MDF I would make sure to get the pleated filter as the filtration is lots better than thr standard bag. We run a drum sander using the AF16 and the machines extracts all of the dust from the sander. I couldn't really ask for more. The only thing you need to keep an eye on is the space limitations but all larger extractors have the same issue.

@@TheNaturalWorkshop spoke to the sales guys and started with the purchase, going to run a cyclone in front of it so keep the filter clean, can you run it up so I can Hear how loud it is

Awesome, you wont be disappointed! Which one did you go with in the end? I can try but my camera tends to reduce loud sound when recording. You can stand right next to mine without ear protection but I wouldnt want to do it for long. I would say its quieter than a cheap shop vac

@@TheNaturalWorkshop its ok just watched your video again and you have the sound on it, AF14 thanks Nic, When I have it all set up will do a video, The part that sold it for me was getting down to 0.3 of a micron and having the handles to clean the filter rather than banging a bag lol

Guys does anybody knows if this could work good on a 4 side planer that has 2 x 150 mm holes + 2x120mm holes ?
@TheNaturalWorkshop
@TheNaturalWorkshop Год назад
I can't see why not, its a beast of am extractor and about as powerful as you're going to get without going to 3 phase. If you give Felder a ring they will help you out 👍🏼

@@TheNaturalWorkshop I already have a Felder fr 22 , that has 2 way out of 120 mm, and I wonder if it will worth it to change that with a improved 200 mm one that will reduce to 150 X2 and 120x2 .... Do you think that can work ? I just bought a beutifull 4 face planer SCM p64 and I need to do it for that .
