Amazing saws, it's what I learned on and still use. I have a set of 11 saws from them starting from my great grandfather, grandfather and dad. The handles are PERFECTION, making the saw a simple extension of your arm, as if your arm is doing the cutting. I didn't realize how amazing these saw were until I became an adult and used other hand saws

I love this about Sheffield. There's still so many of these tiny little places making world class tools, cutlery, widgets and parts right in the city centre. You should see whether you can have a look at the other end of the manufacturing scale at Forgemasters.

Hello Alec, if one day you decide to go in the south france, in the small village of Saint-Juéry, near to Albi, you can visit a manufacture of raspe, stone chisel and plaster tool. I had to work in it 3 years ( 2009 to 2012) the teeth of the raspe are made one by one on hand. It's named " forge de saint-juéry " and product the Auriou tools, the manufacture have been saved by an English man and a Austrian man, because they loved the quality of the tools. You can find some youtube videos showing the work. (sorry if my english is bad)

You need to check out the Anson Engine Museum in Poynton near Manchester. Large diesel, gas and steam engines aswell as a forge area.

Thomas Flynn is their cheaper line. The Pax is higher end. A Flynn tenon saw is about $100 and a Pax would be $134.

You know i think it's easy to be mad at classic manufacturing, because sometimes i think some people act abit posh about their work, but i've enjoyed all your factory tours! Really it's a shame that in the modern era small crafted business just isn't as viable anymore, atleast not in my opinion, so i think that's why you find the poshness sometimes. Nevertheless seeing people who are willing to explain their work instead of gatekeeping it is always what we need more of! Great video as always!

It is quite viable. Not everyone needs 5 million of everything. Some people only needs small amounts. You think a company making 5 million parts for Company A wants to stop so they can produce 5 thousand parts for Company B? Nope. That's where the smaller companies come in. If that weren't the case, there would only be huge companies everywhere and no small shops, which IS NOT the case. Watch Smarter Every Day. Destin shows all sorts of small, niche companies on his channel. Plus there's tons of small, niche shops all over youtube that put vids up of their crafts, too.

That tenon saw he held up costs $135 If you can batch 10 out in a day you're doing OK. They're making at least 50% profit after materials and overhead. You can live comfortably on $675 a day.

Why do saw makers still put the handle so high? I move the handles down for easier sawing. You can also adjust your grip to having a finger or two below the handle for a similar outcome.

Some providers like o2 offer complete EU wide roaming (though with caveats and limits), I assume Saily asks you to specify a country because data costs do vary per country and this allows them to offer you a cheaper country/roaming partner specific data cost. I used them in Lithuania last week, wasn't cheap compared to my o2 contract, but it worked in a location where o2's roaming partner was poor (Trakai Island).
