One fact that I don't see mentioned often, is that although they are critically endangered in the wild, they are _plentiful_ in captivity, which is why you can buy one so cheap. However, I still want more smiley bois in nature, so let's goooo.

They are a critically endangered species and are near extinct in the wild. Actually, importing them is illegal in many countries and in the US is illegal to own one in many states. Please review your country or state's laws to see if you can actually own one. 2. Even though they are very resilient animals and have a wonderful ability to regenerate, they have very specific temperature and aquarium chemistry requirements that you have to learn about and consider before even taking your new axolotl home. Many axolotls have died horrible deaths because people don't learn about their needs. 3. Although they are predators and can be fed many types of food, it's best if you learn first what kinds of food are best for axolotls. They're salamanders, not fish, so their dietary needs are diferent from the majority of aquarium animals. They will also swallow anything smaller than their mouths, so you have to be careful about their decorations. Having said that, I'm really happy that people are now aware that these cute little fellas exist and want to make them part of their lives. Just learn as much as you can about them and help them recover their habitat, and if you want to have one at home, make sure they are as comfortable as possible.

I've had my axolotle for 2 years and He has such a personality, hes a bit of a lump and the delayed reaction with feedings is both hilarious and frustrating rofl♡♡♡
