I am a Hausa Man from Kano but my favourite music is Yoruba music old school e g Ayinla Omowura Haruna Ishola, kolinton ayinla ,barrister ,wasiu ayinde and others I love their music
Who else is here after seeing Ayinla on Netflix...i was born in the 90s but am so proud of the quality of songs that made the airwaves back in the days. Our parents are so lucky listening to the OmoWuras growing up and not the Naira Marleys.
Am an Igbo Man…But grew up in Mafoluku in (Agbole )grew up listening to his songs…But understood him better after watching the movie Ayinla on Netflix…His sound is perfect
Listen to the song, the instrument, the soothing voice, the... All synchronizing together. All without going to music school. Ayinla Omowura is a Legend. Respect.
Our parent were just so lucky listening to pure talent and great music. Our generation really don't understand what music really means. It's deeply incorruptible soul searching
we are lucky too. I've decided to start collecting songs of Nigerian Musicians from as much as 70 years ago. Why ? I'm Igbo but my dad loves Ebenezer Obey ( he grew up in Lagos and speaks Yoruba pieces) and it robbed off on me, and when I started hearing Yoruba small small I began to appreciate the music more.. On the Igbo part there are people like Osadebe, Isreal Nzemani, Celestine Ukwu and Rex Lawson. I dive to South Africa to pick Mariam Makeba and the black Smith band. There is nothing to hate about the music of old, I don't understand anything in this song as Egba pass my level but the beating makes sense, it sounds like something that was released today and I'm dancing as I write. I know it's not corrupt rubbish I'm listening to. I hope we can collect as much as possible.
Ayinla Omowura was great. He sang with easy. He was one of the most talented musicians Yoruba race has ever produced. He was a legend. Rest in peace Egun mogaji of Egba land.
I was born in 1984, I grew up listen to English music not until few months ago that I decided to research through Yoruba music, at the end I discover that Ayinla Omowura is the man to honor. Omowura is highly creative with word.
In the words of former Congolese leader Patrick Lumumba, I quote: "Tell my Children I came 50 years too soon" end quote. then he was executed. So was Ayinla Omowura. he was a music legend.
Am kolawole babatunde Aka fela from isolo Akure, if you are from yoruba land and you understand yoruba very well you are going to knew that Ayinla omowura is singing original yoruba music, I can't lie to you Ayinla omowura is the best
I usually get angry when daddy Play one of his CD... But Now I understand he's using it too cool off His Mind from the day Stress.. Just as am doing now..... Heritage
As an Egba man myself I don't think there is a single album of Ayinla Omowura that my dad didn't buy as we were growing up. And definitely we had to listen to them with my dad. Philosophical. The albums are the only things I'll steal from my dad
I discovered that am getting older now, but am falling in line with these lyrics, which I deemed as noisy sounds, when I growing up in Epe, Oke Balogun...
You have all said it all. What distinct Ayinla's lyric from legend like Baba legba N Baba n ghani is the deep IFA recitation in all of his records. Ayinla was a born babalawo and musician. That was two great talents combination!!!
I'm listening to this with a headphone now. The sound is *super SONIC* even for an old skool song. You appreciate this better with an headphone. The separation of the lead and chorus, still brilliant and coherent in uniformity and beauty.
Here in abroad i hardly listen to any other music aside Ayinla Omowura..... I actually started listening to Ayinla when i came back from the compulsory NYSC service year of the Nation in 2004.
Special thanks to Mainframe productions for bringing back the piece of history, I'm proud to be a Yoruba man. Waidi Ayinla Egunmogaji a.k.a Son of Wura is an Icon, I will forever listen to your music no matter the level I attain in life.
I have done a deep research on Yoruba music and Apala. I found Ayinla Omowura far outclassed all, he lived before his time, he is a Legend I feel for you if you are a Yoruba man and dont have deep understanding of his lyrics its beyond our age I really cant explain, I feel more proud to be an Egba man first then a Yoruba man. I heard his music blared every where when I was young in Lagos. I was young Naive and read no meaning to it until a deep research into my culture, try a soul search as a Yoruba man and you will be grateful that this guy lived to deepen our culture.
True talk brother. The sad realisation is that many of our young generation find it hard to understand its language. Ayinla is a rear custodian of Yoruba cosmology and philosophy. But how many of them know that?
I can't agree less on your submission . The problem here is that there is no proper and adequate change of baton from one generation to the other as far as traditional music is concerned . I wonder why will any generation will want to loose the rich cultural contents of Omowura music.
The Man was a Legend. Traditional Music is not easy to copy. It takes only talented musician to survive with ir couple with the Egba lyrics. That is why there is no transition from old era to the new. All our present yoruba musician only take the easy route.
Anyone who wishes to know more about Ayinla should get the recently published 500-page book Ayinla Omowura - Life and Times of an Apala Legend. Many of the questions asked here are well answered in the book by a foremost Nigerian .media practitioner Festus Adedayo
Egunmogaji osatoko osogun se munimuni is a real gangster of his time,as a mushin boy like him I was in secondary school when he died,I doff my cap for the late Omowura.
I lived in Mushin too and was just in my first year in Secondary school when he died. The greatest musician from Yorubaland. My considered and candid opinion as someone who was raised listening to all genres of Yoruba music and artists then.
We can never see someone like this man ever again! This particular song will give goose bumps if you are a true Yoruba and understand the beautiful rich language he uses.
This old music and it's like are the music with local contents unlike all the rubbish audio and video music that youth of nowadays were listen.....No moral is really uphold today in our society. ..... I wonder why one of his sons can't take after him in music industry. ..... Ayinla Omowura rest in peace......B'Onirese oo fingba mo, eyi to ti fin ko le e parun.
Egunmagaji himself, he is a legend in Yoruba music, his songs and music will continue to be relevant because it is rich in both lyrics and rhythm. Every of his work has message that is ever relevant!
This takes me back to Mushin, Agege Motor Road, Lagos when Baba omo Pupa ruled the roost. Baba Ayinla a.k.a. Egun magaji, there will never be another like you. My love of your music is rooted in my childhood and l am proud to inform those who care to know that l remain your unalloyed fan forever. Sun re o.
I am with you ..Once upon A time... In Lagos State, NGR especially , Agege Motor Road Mushin when it was the center of the show and controlled by the shakers, like Omo pupo, Lati elewe omo, Lati Darasin(boxer) Alado baba bill, chief S.Kekeke, Adisa tarawoni inu fele and many others. Ayinla omowura was more than Apala musician who deserves more honors/ awards for his work.. May God continues to comfort his family and fans worldwide.
I watched the film produced by Kelani, Mainframe titled AYINLA in memory of late Ayinla Omowura - Egunmagaji of Egbaland last Saturday 10th July,2021 at Silverbird Cinema, Shoprite Building, Abuja Nigeria. I was touched the way I was when I heard of his demise on 6th May, 1980. I love his music to no fault. May Allah continue resting his soul in Jannatul fridaousi. Egba sons and daughters won't forget you.
Great man! great music!!. Those days when my old man listened to his music, I'll always be angry, I will say this in my mind " what's this man enjoying in this boring music" not knowing that music will be my best music. Full of wisdom. RIP Baba Omowura

The Most High gave our ancestors everything including and not limited to climate, natural resources, talent, strength and good health untill the invaders came from Europe and the Arabs, and disrupted everything. Who could fathom a man, without attending a four wall school education, could compose, organise such a group whose works still resonate even till today. The mas was a pure talent.

He is surely a Legend, Lyrically and The Originality of his Music composition, Socially diversified to Blend with Every Group of Elites and saundry, Regardeless of his too early demise ,His music and legend shall always bremain evergreen.
Ayinla Omowura was a legend both in life and in deat, he was a great composer of songs, masters of yoruba language and a fearless vocalist. No matter how bad the situation is, once I listen to his music a new life is breath into me.
I wish Hakeem Ayinla can be interviewed about his late father so that younger people can learn and know more about this great musical Icon that passed on May 6th 1980. When next I am Abeokuta, Nigeria, I will see if I can locate him.
If I don't listing to Ayinla omowura in a day I don't complete I don't known this man 2 much in ile Agodo Orin am just happy that Ayinla come from Ogun state Abeokuta
I remember those days i use to work back then at Eko hotel. Whenever i pass through Obalende listen to this man music played on the street of Obalende. MHSCTRIP.
Outstanding Performance from Ayinla.. awesome synchronization with his band, the talking drummer was just a perfect start and the way Ayinla composed his songs amazes me. There can never be a match for his legacy
I was a kid with my late dad who loves going to Abeokuta every friday and right at the beer parlour when I was rushed into the house only to find out later that The Music Legend was there and some commotion which led to his death that very day but the music still lives on RIP Anigilaje Omo Wuramotu
Alhaji Ayinla's music is not only fantastic but deeply spiritual, congenial and full of wisdom. He rides on the tidal waves of music delivering every line with expertise and exceptional mastery...
Discovered Ayinla Omowura in 1988 as a student. This man and his music has traveled with me all over the world. I did some research on him...Wow, the True Gangsta (O.G)...Lived and played music before his time...Amazing compositions, arrangements, the drums and percussion, and his voice with the "sh" pronunciations of words... makes him a special musician...For me, he ranks with Bob, Fela, Tupac and all the greats....And an not Yoruba...Great music is great music...
Why did you say that? when you are talking of music Legends 2pac cannot be omitted from the list. He was and still Rap KING A rare talent, a prophetic singer.
This great music. 👍 I enjoyed this kind of music while growing up in the 70s. Ayinls Omowura is a legend. Just respect his art. We lost him a day after my Dad was buried in May 1980. Love this man's music. ❤ 😂
I'm working on being a gospel musician I bet you I'm getting more inspiration from his songs... I'm downloading as much as possible... Thanks to the legend.
When you listen to gifted talents like Ayinla Omowura you quickly begin to realize how Yorubas have completely LOST their way because of foreign, selfish and greedy Pentecostal religion. Yoruba ro nu.
