When I saw the show live, I honestly thought Simone improved the original - the "I soar on the breeze" sounded SO incredibly smooth! And I LOVE Sharon Den Adel's voice, maybe even more than Simone's - even if I'm not a Within Temptation fan at all.
@@Metalton95 I prefer Sharon's voice, too. And the songs from this Electric Castle album are a perfect featuring from her. Isis and Osiris is another great song with Sharon (Simone in the live version) in the vocals
I was at this particular performance (I saw two of the four full shows in Tilburg). It still gives me goosebumps to this day. Absolutely outstanding, mesmerizing experience.
i discovered this live only many years after buying the cd. Arjen is just a genius, it's puccini of rock. i've never seen something similar. God bless all of them.
Arjen is just a genius, much like Zappa in how he creates the scene and executes it all. Also, have to add how much fun the musicians/ singers seem to be having.

@@ashemedai Some vocalists and performers gained a lot of recognition thanks to Arjen's "scouting about" for his Ayreon project. I hear he's awesome to work with.
So yeah, Technically, Ayreon is not a band, best way to describe it is a "musical project". Arjen writes stuff and everyone else is a guest. It's like an All-Stars series of albums.
Hehe, you should have seen Hansi for the chorus on Age of Shadows, 2 years earlier. I'm glad they juust got the necessary takes, cuz when I saw them on the 3rd day, he would mess up the order of the lyrics and laugh, haha :)
i came looking for this comment on the mistake, but yeah, it was honest and the show must go on. as for Hansi... goddamnit, Hansi. it's kinda sad, really. i mean, as an amateur musician i value having fun on the stage. but when pro's have given me the opportunity to share the stage, they have taken rehearsal and soundcheck very seriously and the actual performance even more so... because your audience paid hard-earned coin to see you play music they love. it's almost businesslike and transactional: you are collecting money from them as clients for a product (live music) and service (showmanship) you are providing. it's gotta be worth every cent if you want them to remain returning customers. in the case of ayreon.... people from all over the world go to the netherlands to watch all these amazing musicians pouring their hearts and souls for their fans. botching a performance and laughing it off like Hansi does could be very well construed as disrespect to the art and the fans. or maybe it's just a defense mechanism, who knows? @@pike666db Yehhh nah, the difference is that Hansi IS a professional musician and a legend in his own right. You'd think in the nearly 40 years of fronting Bling Guardian he would've considered the transactional nature of the music industry. Dude has put the majority of his life into the art and the business and succeeded, think we owe him a pass on a fuck up here and there.
@@doktormunted2864 I hear what you say, but other artists of both lower and higher caliber than Hansi don't give themselves the luxury of fuck-ups... and when they happen, they own them. it's true, he's considered a legend in some circles, in others, his very existence is unknown. I admire Hansi to an extent, and I admire Arjen and his masterpieces even more, which is why his botching multiple performances and brushing it off by laughing about it bothers me more than just a little. I felt it justified that his voice was buried below Lisette van den Berg's in the performance of Everybody Dies in post-production. Anyway, good talk!
I think it was more a matter of availability to be honest - Sharon had a concert with Within Temptation in the same day. So I guess it just wasn't meant to be
