Test runs in march 1994. The recordings were made with a vhs camera. The quality is sometimes not so good but enjoy the sound of the old formula one engines.
Yes it was quite a nice time. I was born in the 90's, but looking back on history, this era always stood out to me because of the creativity and different approaches. F1 is better with variety
You probably dont care but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Reyansh Trey thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Great view of the Tamburello-Villeneuve-Tosa sequence, where cars reached 330 km / h. Sad that this version of the Imola circuit is studded with bad memories. RIP Roland and Ayrton (1960-1994)
I have never been, but what strikes me about Imola is how the engine notes sing amongst the trees as the cars approach and go past. The sound lingers for quite some time. Case in point - Agua Minerale where you can hear the car approaching from a long way off. Beautiful.
I just came across this in 2023. Fantastic. There will not be anything like these magnificent beasts again - the engine notes are fantastic and it’s interesting to listen to the gear changes and where each driver is doing them.
Plus what you hear there is mix of V12, V10 and V8 engines....just couple years later in 1996 it was made standard that everyone had to use the same engines (V10) and later in 2006 V8s and then in 2014 onwards the current V6 hybrids that killed the sound of F1 But ye 1994 was one of the last seasons we had such mix of sounds as well as teams. After 1994 smaller teams quickly started to die off and the current 20 cars grid became the norm aside from few years exceptions since then when there were 1-2 teams more
thank you all for the positive comments, the sound of the engines at that time, especially the Ferrari V12 was incredible. Today I have the impression that all the engines have equal sound.
You really get a sense of how fast the exit from Tamburello and the run towards Tosa were from this video. And that Ratzenberger and Senna both had zero chance of surviving their accidents when neither could stop themsleves slamming into solid concrete at nearly 200mph... =(
Thanks for the memories, you made the last 8:39 minutes the best of the day. Was my first trip to Italy, and first F-1 race. My first impression was the amazing sound of each teams engine combination. You could close your eyes and just by the sound know what car was passing. Something that is totally lost in all the top forms of motorsport. However a tragic weekend it still was memorable in many more ways. Again thank you and I wonder were I was on the track at the time you were filming.
Wow! It doesn't matter about the quality, this is incredible to see, those old cars especially the V12 Ferrari sound amazing, hard to believe less than 2 months later, the tragedies that would occur at the same circuit.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us, the sounds and sights are absolutely incredible. I get choked up just seeing those distinct helmets of Roland and Senna. God bless
The simtek really does have a harsh gear change on the up shift with the manual transmission. No wonder why this car struggled to qualify it was already at a huge disadvantage compared to the sequential users
One of the best, if not the best video with f1 sounds. Makes me wonder what sport it is that I am watching next Sunday when they visit Barcelona, with all about similar sounds, a truncated last corner, halo... Some far relative from this origin. The origin that actually started to die with Ratzenberger and Senna's death...
Foi nessa corrida que Senna morreu? Sou Socorro Mendes, de Belém do Pará, e Quero saber. A namorada dele Adriane Galisteu estava esperando ele na mansão?
I love how this video is without commentary, but just screaming engines and the quality is not that bad. Wish there were more nostalgic videos like those, they are hard to find. Thanks a lot for sharing, and its really weird that 2 months later that horrible accident happened seeing those test sessions were going really well.
+DVZ_91 It was not only Roland's and Ayrton's crashes, but Rubens Barrichello crashed as well and there were 2 accidents, at the start of the grand prix, with a wheel flying to the spectators and another accident in the pits midway through the gran prix. Worst F1 weekend of all time by far.
Just realising that there is 1 person who dislikes this video. Either they hit by mistake or they have no sense at all of the nature of this true formula one.
For those asking what the whistling noise is on declaration and downshifting on the V8s/V12s/V10s,it is the air intake trumpet throttle butterflies closing and air stalling n still squeezing past n subsequent partial vacuum causing that noise..Nothing to do with the brakes I hope as they gotta last a race distance!!😆 This was when F1 was F1,not today's vacuum cleaners.
I'm a motorcycle racer,MX,SX,Moto GP AKA SUPERBIKE RIDER I LIKE THE longer circuits 2.5 miles and bigger 120mph average speeds like ASSEN Imola is a great layout, when I say that sweepers are fun at 150 plus, carrying the speed run off areas and gravel pits make it all a forgiving science I heard because of bikes F1 has gotten rid of gravel run offs, even though I ride I'm not totally cool with that, the bike have been racing for years, grass is like ice on sport bike u feel like when u go on it.u just have to get off the front wheel when u go into it sand,it was messy any way so don't go off focus for faacs sake...thanks cool footage
If that is Senna in the Williams and Ratzenberger in the Simtek on the track right next to each other at around 0:35 then that will be very strange....
Não é Fantástico?...😳 Amazing how in the first images of the video Ratzemberger and Senna appear, exactly the two who would die a little over a month after those free practices there!... Isn't it fantastic?...😳
@@meggys222 Rubbish! The so called F1 drivers and rule makers are all a bunch of pussies. Terrified to drive their rolling computers on a real race track.
0:48. Wow, that sound of the Renault V10 at full tilt, with the sound of the cars aero wash, sounds like a fighter jet! They were reaching 330kph through there. To think Senna and ratzenberger would die at this same track less than 2 months later…
V12 ferrari and the V8 ford sounds like they whistle when they lift the throttle, maybe there was some form of tc to balance the car in the brake point and in the entrace of the corner,i dont believe this was from the exhaust
I sat exact on the same spot in 1995 there was an emotional ceremoy for Senna because it was exact one year ago he died and Razenberger offcourse, nou it is30 years and it stil f+++++g hurts
Was that Roland Ratzenberger at the very beginning? The video is shaky, but it looks like his colors. Not clear enough to see any sponsors though. Is that both of them in the same frame @ 0:30??
With a manual box, just like a normal car, they use the engine to help breaking. With a sequential gear box you don't. You break and downshift. Under acceleration I doubt that there was much difference but on deceleration it's definitely easier with a sequential to control the car and brake closer to the corner. However, some argue that you get a smoother breaking by using the engine. Another advantage is of course that you can keep both hands on the wheel all the time.
