Thank you Richy - I am born Burmese and have followed the history/destruction of AYUTTHAYA - there were massacres over 400 years ago by the Burmese then. Fully understand why like the holocaust, these can NEVER be forgotten.

Best night market I’ve been to in a while Graham, music for copyright was why I couldn’t show more. Frustrating at times. The hostel is amazing, I never spent a penny on food today.

I used to live there Richy, just behind Big C shopping mall. Some used to say that it was the roughest neighborhood in Thailand, worst for crime, gangs and robberies but its a beautful historical city and i had no problems there ever

Enjoyed both this and the Kanchanaburi one the other day Richy. Very useful as heading back with my wife for a holiday in a few months, and both are top of our list as neither of us have been before to either - which can't easily figure as she was born and raised in Ubon and I have been going out there working / living on and off for thirty years. Also nice to see straightforward everyday bloke of a certain vintage on RU-vid rather than the horrible little Herberts with more fluff between their ears than on their chins who seem to think that anyone older than 40 is automatically stupid, senile or worse.. Subscribed and looking forward to more - enjoy.

Thanks Robert, that’s really good to hear mate. I want to visit there at some point. Also I’ll in Kanchanaburi for a week as of tomorrow. It’s a class city, that’s where I go to relax.

School boy error there missing the chinese "new years eve", did you lose out on bkk hotel no show ?, ayutthaya is ok but once youve seen one temple ruins......you know what i'm talking about,!. ive stayed two times there only overnight , and the second time must have been a hostel type place as there were about 6 beds in room, but nobody else there, luckily it was right next to the main entrance to the night market, it was one of the best night markets ive been to in thailand, looks like your hostel was rammed ?, with you sleeping on the landing floor,. river trip sounds interesting so looking forward to that, may even take in the floating market if your lucky ?,.enjoy richy cheers,.
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 6 месяцев назад
Thanks Mike, I’ve never been so I didn’t how sleepy it is here. I was asked by a few people (who I don’t blame it was my decision) not to go to Bangkok. I really regret it now I’ve heard loads of people telling me it was class. No or well sort of ha, just for last night I slept in the owners front room. Sounds weird but it was extremely comfy and they’re really nice people. The owners have been force feeding me since I got here. I didn’t fancy the floating market my mate was there last week and said it was a total tourist trap. Google reviews are also backing him up. Yes I did lose on the Bangkok hotel, it was my fault I never checked the policy’s check in times. Nightmare but it was great of the owner’s to let me come here early. I’d of being goosed otherwise.

Thank you, the markets are great. The only thing I will always say is look for things that are getting ready cooked for the first few weeks and also never ever eat seafood from a street stall.

Sean King was here a few weeks ago, the Chickens might have gone into battle as "Fighting Cocks" bad pun. the number 3 is considered Lucky, if you gave some gifts you would do it in a lot of 3 wrapped in gold coloured paper.

Great bike, Richy! I wonder why they decided to not have it as the capital all those years ago? I was going to ask how you travelled there, from Koh Phayam/Ranong. Sounds an adventure to get there, and no sleep! You will sleep well tonight then. I'm surprised you managed to wake up from the hammock. You've really settled in to the hostel life now, and so cheap too. Quite a few guests at this one. It almost looked deserted down by the river. How's about that guy trying to kick the concrete barricade 😆
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 6 месяцев назад
Thanks Greg, the guy kicked the barrier about three times🤣. It was an adventure mate, a very exhausting one as it turned out. We live and learn mate. The hostels are great, that was Saturday night the next day there was four of us there. The thing is with the hostels, you get some many free facilities. Food, water, tea/coffee and they’re extremely cheap. I’m not in my hotel long so all I need is somewhere to lay my head and food etc. The bike was also a bonus. I’m on route to Kanchanaburi right now and the hostel there looks amazing too and also crazy cheap👌🏻
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 6 месяцев назад
I forgot to mention the history Greg. There was a war for independence over 500 years ago with the Burmese hence all the temples being destroyed. The Thai’s decided after that to move the capital further in land away from the border to Bangkok
@gregorythomasfitness
@gregorythomasfitness 6 месяцев назад
@ParkinsonRaw wow that's amazing. This place is just North of Bangkok, isn't it? Thanks for sharing, Richy. Looking forward to you getting back to your favourite Kanchanaburi!
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 6 месяцев назад
Thanks Greg I’ve just arrived, so happy mate. I’ve just looked into this more🤣I was listening to the people at the hostel. Break in communication. The Capital of Thailand was actually changed in 1767. The Burmese sacked Ayutthaya, then a Thai general drove them out. He took control and moved the capital further down the Chao Phraya river to Thonburi as the City was more developed. Sorry I should of fact checked that👌🏻

This one had loads of different food Ian, I wish I could have showed more but music copyright kills it off. It was really big and the lights and nice seating. It was definitely the nicest I’ve been to in a while. Old temples lite up in the background too.
