Good steady progress. Thank you for editing out the vast majority of the window masking! I like your boxes inside the warp nacelles - they get the LED's close to the grilles and provide a void space to hide wiring which avoids some of the issues Phil was having. In future projects you might consider using JST connectors for things like the upper light on the nacelle - they allow you to make connections that you can plug and unplug as necessary during construction. BTW international convention mandates navigation (nav) lights that are steady red on the port side, green on the starboard and white at the rear so the steady white lights are still nav lights. Obviously, in the 23rd century interplanetary conventions may require slightly different configurations! 😁

I have those connectors and plan on using them in the saucer, the top of the nacelle is no big deal

Those warp nacelles are looking great, those cages really helped to keep any wires from blocking light. lovely solution.

Looks great! Can't wait to try and get my hands on one. Hopefully, they will fix some of the issues by the time I do. You're making some great progress, though. Keep up the great work!

You might need a bigger porch outside your bedroom. It will prevent rain from hitting your window and you will have a place of shelter for your drying models. Just an Idea.

Ahah! Nothing like a good thunderclap in the middle of the night to stir the blood, eh? When they're that close you want to go see what got blown up! You had some interesting edit choices-- I think you've got a clear case of "yellow line fever." But the intent is all there. To wit: forward progress. From my watching TNG and paying attention to the ship sequences-- the use of incandescent bulbs really makes a big difference. I believe the "Jein" standard was using neon tubing for the majority of the ship but smaller sources were used. Those "Bussard" domes were warmer than red LEDs are. So! Your choice of adding an orange was pretty clever. But why not a 5mm? None handy? I also think several more of both kinds would smooth things out. I wonder whether or not sanding the lenses flat would help. No one these days wants to trust grain-o-wheat bulbs, but LEDs do limit our color spectrum. Tuning RGBs is just weird and results vary from ideal-- my next plan is to use colored markers to see what happens to a white LED-- this time using a cool white. And experiment with a warm too. I personally cannot wait to see what mad levels of paint masking is going to happen.

Lou on Star Trek TNG those rear Nacelles Lights Blinked along with the other Blinking Lights !

@@aztekdummy I've been watching the Show a bit lately and I've seen those Nacelles Lights Blinking not like the Strobes but more like the Blinking Nav Lights on the Refit Enterprise Watch Star Trek TNG and pay close attention to the Senses of The Enterprise D flying through Space and you'll notice the lights on the Rear of the Nacelles Blinking .

Wouldn't two Cob strips inside the nacelles look a bit more even as far as lighting is concerned (and mimic the light-tubes on the 6-foot-filming model)?
@aztekdummy
@aztekdummy 5 дней назад
again, I'm limited by the design of the Helios lighting board. It's designed for strip leds and from what I know about cob lighting is that is requires a constant 12v. I have some blindingly bright blue cob, but I don't want to risk screwing up the board to use it here

Your project is coming along great! Dumb question - Was the Enterprise studio model that blue or is what looks like the Robin Egg blue that I've seen on photos, going on next as the main base coat? I'm going to have to learn how an Arquino circuit board works. You and others make this lighting look so simple.
@aztekdummy
@aztekdummy 5 дней назад
that is the darkest blue you are seeing. there is a gray/blue coat to go over it that will cut that down quite a bit
