Don't call anything in your kitchen ugly, even the containers. It's actually a beautiful thing knowing your kids are eating healthy, nutritious food that you carefully select and provide. I love your kitchen, it may be small but it's full of wonderfullness. (just a made up word describing your family!) Thanks for sharing your food haul, would love to see more.
Wow! I'm single with no human children, just a few fur-babies, so I have no experience to draw on watching this. That said, you seem like a mindful and loving mother who is putting forth a lot of effort to give your kiddos a happy and healthy upbringing, and I absolutely appreciate that. How amazing that you are not just willing, but happy to do so, and thank you for sharing your insights - even us old spinsters (44, no husband, no kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and thriving!) can learn from your experience and insights.
I buy bulk, using vacuum storage. Being single human, no pet family, bulk goes a long way. But, I like buying best price. The bonus is often an empty trash can at the curb bc there's not much single packaging going on, and I compost, just for composts sake. lol
I would have loved those strong young men yesterday when my daughter and I stacked our firewood for the winter. You are a blessed momma and you are a blessing to you family Jessica.
Thank you Jessica. Your reasoning with purchases is great advice for large families but please know that I benefit from your videos in our retiree stage of life. God bless y’all!
Wow- an encyclopedia of useful info on this channel! I am not new here, I am an older woman, and yet there is so much to be gained by the quality of content presented on your channel ! God bless you and your family. (I'm living in SW Ohio)
Jessica, aloha from Kauai. My refrigerator and freezer went out Friday! Because of watching your canning & meal prep I was able to move into action quickly and avoid losing all that food. I needed to give away a bit but most of it was repurposed. Salad, BBQ, cobbler, smoothies and one huge pot of soup to share after service on Sunday. The bright side is that our meals are made for a few days and we were able to borrow a small fridge. I didn’t realize how much I was learning. Thank you! Diane
I went chemical free cleaning products a few years ago. Use hydrogen peroxide for surface cleaning in bathrooms and kitchen. Best glass cleaner I have found is water. I bought Norwex clothes for windows a few years ago and LOVED them. I got E-clothes off Amazon for a lot less and they work just as well. They have them for all sorts of surfaces. Using only water is great. NO streaks and the windows stay cleaner longer. I use the window E-clothes in our vehicles and there are absolutely no streaks. Years ago when I used windex, after about three days in our car, I noticed a film on the inside of the car windows. When the sun beats down on the dash and other surfaces it seemed like the windex windows started gassing off. Since using my E-clothes for windows, none of that happens. Love using water on the windows and mirrors.
I was taught to use about one gallon of warm water and one tablespoon corn starch mixed well for my windows. It does an amazing job. Use one washcloths to clean the window with the wet mix ( ring out your clothe). Then use a separate cotton dry clothe. Your windows sparkle with no streaks.
So informative regarding choices of how to budget and where to seek the best prices. That is not for the faint of heart but you make it look simple. The root cellar is amazing and so glad you have it now. Again, I am ready to face the week after seeing your smiling face. Have a great week, Jessica.
So informative Jessica. I have enjoyed seeing your pretty different shelf units now in your Kitchen. I could see how happy you were arranging and rearranging them. Your smile today had a little "extra" brightness.😊 Yes to seeing your small Sam's Aldi and Walmart trips. I was considering your $1,000 monthly food Budget for 2 men and all the rest of you. You have accomplished a major savings in all the growing preserving and much more health food list than anyone else I personally have seen. Thank you for all the teaching and sharing you do for all of your viewers. I don't miss your videos!
I felt personally **attacked** about the “eating a handful of chocolate chips from the big bag each time you walk pass it” hahaha 🤣 great video, as usual !
Thank you. I always find it interesting to hear different pronunciations of basic words. The diversity is a wonderful thing to me. Have a blessed week.❤
I was so excited when I realized I get to see you this am! Love starting my week with you! So encouraging and uplifting! Thank you for all you do! Have a great week my friend! ❤😊
You have such a sweet and authentic way of connecting with us! Thank you for this channel, sometimes I think one day you will probably stop doing videos, and I sure will miss you! It is so sweet seeing your family grow and evolve! You inspire me although our lifestyles are very different! Bless you!
Oh my goodness, your cellar is a thing of beauty! Congratulations. I'm with the crowd on including your other hauls. They're inspiring and I love the insight on your thought process.
Enjoy your videos so much! Thank you. Years ago, maybe 10, I quit buying window cleaning products. I now use a special cloth wet with tap water, squeezed well, & away I go. Best streak free way to clean. I use on mirrors, sink and tub taps. This is not a plug for any company. The cloth I have is from Norwex. I've never replaced it in the past 10 years.
I seriously never tire of grocery hauls and am always curious about your large family hauls! I talk about you to friends all the time! Thank you for sharing!
I do like when you share the different products you’ve tried. Because you have a large family, you can try out new items quickly, whereas it would take me years to cycle through some of these things. Hearing about what you buy at ALDIs, etc., would be great for that reason.
The organized storage in your cellar turned out so nice. The stackable bins look very easy to work out of. I think I need to rework my entire storage area to make a more effective use if space. It currently serves as my sewing room as well so a redo is in order. Thank you for the inspiration.
I generally don't enjoy watching food hauls from other people but I learn something new from each of yours that I've seen so far. I'm still catching up on your older posts since I'm a new subscriber. Jessica, your organization skills are amazing. The way you were moving jars around at the end and refilling to make everything fit reminded me of myself. I'm always consolidating to make more room for something else, lol. Can't wait to see your mac and cheese recipe that you told another commenter you would do soon!
Great arrangement in the basement. Looks wonderful. Now you have more space to deal with. Yay!! Interesting fact you have taught me about pasta (wheat) I didn’t know. I will be changing that purchase in my future
@Three Rivers Homestead. Yes please to grocery hauls, no matter where you go. I think if you knew me you would understand how very helpful they are for me I'm like your boy who can't tolerate the chemicals in packaging and in products. Fragrance free is essential and I am always grateful to learn about new things I can try. I am so sensitive that I can taste "store" on meat. If you ever do get to your Costco, a video of the haul would be great. Anything out of Wally World and many more out of Azure. I'm going to be shopping with them when I get current storage used. I am like you, lots of garden, local farmers, a trusted farm stand farmer selling what he grows and what he brings in. So grateful for all that you share.
Would love to see random hauls. It’s just really interesting to see what others buy when they go shopping. Thanks so much for sharing and blessings to you and your family. 😊
Please yes, show us your Walmart, Sam's club, and Aldi. It is not boring, it is informative about what you are able to find and what nutritional choices you make. Pantries don't have to be pretty, just practical. If it serves your needs, it is glorious 🙌. I have a stainless prep table that my husband took bunkbed frames and make riser shelves for storage under the table. My cabin only had 3 small cabinets. Those hold dishes, so I needed storage for bowls, small appliances, storage containers, bakeware, etc. So the added shelves and 4 underbed totes under the prep table works. To hide it I hemmed shower curtains and my husband attached a piece of pvc pipe under the lip of the table as a curtain rod and now I have ample storage using what we already had. I made the choice to give up half of my under sink storage for a dishwasher. No regrets there. I usually run it twice a week, but during harvest season, it runs nearly every day, and it is my saving grace! For those of us who scratch cook, and preserve, we each have to find ways to make our lives easier to do what we love to do for our families. Jessica you are amazing and I applaud all that 👏 you 👏 do.
Jessica, no worries on what your kitchen "pantry shelves" look like! Looks like a working farmhouse kitchen should. Sterile, white cabinets remind me if a hospital anyway😊
Yes, I would love to see an Aldi haul. That's where I like to shop once a month or so. I usually only get to Aldi when I have OB appointments with the midwife, as it's quite a drive (2 hours). I feed my family of 9 children & counting from there for about $450 a trip. When I'm nearing delivery I like to stock up for the next few months for about $1000.
I buy the small containers of baking powder too so glad to hear that you think it last longer like that too. I get the Whole Foods aluminum free one because I can get it cheaper even though the price just went up again. So great that you have the storage that you want. Great products.
Yes I have been using natural cleaners and also make my own because of the toxic chemicals added to the traditional cleaners. Jessica it’s very smart of you to live a healthy lifestyle in every way. I enjoy your videos and seeing your sweet family.
Vinegar and water is the only glass cleaner I use. It has worked for us the last well over 10 years I have been using it. We even moved to a fixer upper where a neighbor came by and commented on how clean the windows were!
My family has a jelly dessert recipe, we call it white salad, and we add water chestnuts for an added crunch. Though the best part of this recipe is we can get fresh coconut meat and cream around the corner from our house, but the kids would argue and the best part of the salad is the coconut jelly and lychee pieces 😅
We use the food grade 6% h2O2 for cleaning also. I use it mostly with Bronner’s soap diluted as a veg wash, letting it sit for a bit. Last week I found a dead fly in our organic Romaine lettuce 😖 I feel better knowing that it will kill whatever grunge is on it. I love seeing what others are trying from our biggest food source…Azure! Edit: check Barred Woods for a good price on gallons of MS. We’ve used them for yrs.
Easiest glass cleaner is a squirt of dish soap in a spray bottle, fill about 1/3 full with vinegar, and then the rest of the way with water. It is really simple and so cheap! I'm always tempted to buy glass cleaner and then I think of how much I save making my own!
Great haul. I wish you mention the prices. Would be very useful. Can you please also mention prices if you have them handy in upcoming hauls? Love to see other hauls as well ❤
Love seeing how you save money and still buy healthy food! Would love to see how you save money elsewhere with other stores. I’ve been wanting to buy from Azure, but just haven’t, am nervous about first time pickup, etc. It’s local here in Oregon, so I should just order! I agree with you on buying the Alaskan salmon. I grew up with a dad who commercial fished and worked in Alaska. It truly is the best salmon and the Northwest has some of the best seafood ever!
Hi there. I don’t use Azure that much anymore because I eat carnivore now. However, don’t let fear of going to your first time stop you. I felt the very same way. It was a little bit confusing, but I figured it out. I learned that some places have people who will sort into piles as things come off the truck, and others require more careful listening. Still just find someone with a clip board or a friendly face, and ask for help and you’ll be fine..! One thing I didn’t know was to allow time for everything to be hauled off the truck .
I so enjoy your videos Jessica. Your cellar is really coming along, my cold room is my favourite place in my house. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us. 🇨🇦🌷
I have been wanting to order from Azure Standard for quite some time; however, we don't have a pick up location here in Northern Michigan to my dismay. Maybe in a year or two..lol Coconut in Pumpkin pie? I'm intrigued, maybe you will share the recipe in the future? Yes, for including Walmart and Aldi in your hauls 🥰, which are two of the five stores where I typically shop. I don't find them boring at all.😀
Good morning from the Uk 👋 I love seeing the different products you can get & compare prices. We have Costco for bulk orders, limited to businesses, and Aldi uk doesn’t seem to stock the simply natural organic range sadly. I love seeing your recipes ( we’re also a mixed dairy & gluten free household with a vegetarian 😂) recipe making can be challenging so I enjoy seeing your recipes. Yes please, I would love to see a shopping trip from your other stores, just because it’s fun, thanks xx
I would appreciate this also. I am at the point in life when kids are moving out on their own. The closest drop point is about 3 hrs away from us. And figuring gas prices and the price of the products, I wonder if it still would work out to be cheaper. I'm also trying to figure out if I still need items in bulk with less children at home.
Thank you for sharing and thank you for staying within a budget even thought you’re a big RU-vid star now 😊 you’re still price hunting, have very few “slurges” and over all it’s encouraging to hear.
Regarding disinfecting the counters, bathroom etc check out colloidal silver. You can make your own for very little money if you buy a cs generator. You can also use it for keeping foods fresh longer.
Thank you sharing your haul. I am adding hydrogen peroxide to my cart. I wanted to suggest you try coconut syrup as a sweetener alternative. I enjoy it on pancakes, oatmeal, and yogurt bowls. I order it every time I make an order.
💚 Thanks for the Haul Tour, Jessica. You downstairs stirage pantry is looking great, how nice that you have it now!Your upstairs storage will come together also. Happy October 2st, WoW, how did that happen😮, only one quarter of 2023 left to go. 💚
😄 Everything looks great in your downstairs pantry. I'm a little jealous, but I'm still learning from you, so when I get one for myself, I'll be ready. Thank you so very much for sharing all of this wonderful knowledge. God's blessing over you and your beautiful family.
Thank you for your awesome videos. I get so many ideas. I would love to see other grocery hauls. Does Azure deliver to your home? I am working on the day of the drop in our area.
I loved watching your Azure Standard haul. You gave me ideas and I’m popping things into my cart for my next order, thank you. Always a pleasure Jessica, blessings to you and your family.
If you have extra of something don't forget bartering. You can try exchanging with a trusted neighbour for something else. DON'T FORGET LIGHTERS & MATCHES. Be careful purchasing large quanties of extra virgin olive oil. I had several of the small bottles 16 oz. Had to toss out after 6 months, as it was turning rancid.
What I am most curious about is what do you do with the "glassed" eggs. What do they look like when you open them, how do you crack or peel them, how do the compare in usability to fresh eggs, taste, consistency, usability, etc. I've seen your videos on how you put them up, but not seen anything about the outcome or how long they have to sit in solution before using. Are there any cons to having to use preserved eggs over fresh. Thx.
A local grocery haul would be interesting to me. I haven't delved into azure yet but I'm considering it. There is a drop off location within 10 miles of where I live. I admit I'm not always super organized so seeing the things you purchase in the local stores would give me better insight.
Hi. I just somehow stumbled across your channel. I watched it and was impressed on how lots of people prioritize their food storage and make sure enough is available in case of weather conditions or a natural disaster in which your home bound for a certain amount of time. Azure seems like a popular buying source for quantity price or stocking up. I live in Florida and since we have no cellars or crawl spaces, space is limited. If a hurricane is coming and we have enough notice to stock up and be prepared in case of no power, we’d be fine. I like the freeze dryer concept. I enjoyed your video.👍
