My grandfather was a designer on this aircraft. It's amazing to see what was in his head come out to this bad ass piece of equipment. I'm partial but this is my second favorite aircraft, with the SR71 being the first.
Wow. This is just incredible. The complexity of this jet is off the scale. We've got four of 'em in the UK on deployment right now and they're unbelievable to see (and hear) in all their glory. My favourite jet. Thanks a lot for sharing!
@@troygoodyear9029 Yes, the first 3 B-1A's used a single ejection capsule so all 4 crew were tight together. The final B-1A and the rest of the B-1Bs used individual ejection seats.
I worked on the SRAM missile AGM69 back in 1986 and 87. Back then, the B1 was strictly configured for nuclear weapons only. It has three bays and held three rotary launchers. Now it does so much more. It is all electric compared to the B52 which was hydraulic. I was stationed at Dyess AFB. When I arrived, we only had three B1s; the first three.
@@queenniyah3346 to get in and drop the payload and get out. It was build for the Cold War (Russia has one that looks pretty similar) these bombers are insanely awesome
B1 maintainer here to answer some questions in the comments even though this is a little older. Yes there is a bathroom, its the box the pilot is sitting on when he comes up. Normally the aircraft are washed every 2 months, this one is definitely a little dirty, more than it should be. No there are not 4 pilots, like the one in the video said front seats are pilots and back seats are offensive and defensive system operators.
@@danwalden8540 but the engineers were the guys that created (designed) the machine. Without engineers designing the airplane the mechanics wouldn't have an airplane to build, right? Of course mechanics have to be talented as well.
Ship 083, I did the upper skin on the FIF left side in Columbus, Ohio. Started on 013, finished on ship 100. Now its Miller Time with a big mushroom cloud behind the B1B. ( our t-shirts.).
Oh you bring me there with such hi detail video, thanks I can guess you have some talent in mechanical job, maybe auto tech or mechanic or electrician......? I am mechanic working in copper refinery factory,if you like we can be good friends
Driving with sticks shifting? I mean driving Manuel? Need to clutch all the times? Windows 8 computer system is sucks. The shape is beautiful but looks like many many Mushroom button. May need 4 pilots. ?
You all spent too much time admiring the landing gears, and bomb bay area of the airplane and missed out on some of the more important parts of it on the outside. I would have been giving it a quick view then moving on to other areas before moving on to another airplane.
Probably a backup B-1B for the airshow. Normally the primary B-1B would be washed and cleaned up prior to departing from home base. or this could have been an unscheduled static display. When B-1's first came out in the 80's, we'd send crew chiefs with the acft, to make sure it look pretty. Before it departs Dyess the crew chiefs on the acft would spend days cleaning it.
