I've visited FIFI many times at the St. Petersburgh/Clearwater airport in Florida💖. I get goosebumps every time I see her. So glad to hear DOC is in recovery!!!🙏👌

HOLY COW !!! I was stationed in Area B 1981-1987, and one of the greatest benefits was frequest access to the museum, and the occasional arrivals of special aircraft on the otherwise closed runways (truth be told - a couple of times, I took my personal car out there just to see what I could do with 8,000 feet). I distinctly remember the museum wanting to add a Mosquito to the collection, so they purchased a flying one from a collector, and the contract stipulated it had to be delivered intact to the museum - so the guy flew it in. Another interesting case, was after Ronald Reagan was elected, the B-1 bomber was approved, with some cost-saving measures - that resulted in the production plane being the B-1B, while there were four B-1A prototypes - one was lost at Edwards during testing. The decision was made to prepare one of the B-1As for flight and they flew it to WPAFB and landed at Area B - just like FiFi 30 years later - ironic - FiFi flew 40 years or so before the B-1, so still flying …. WELL DONE - hat’s off to the authorities at the museum for overcoming the inertia to make this happen. ❤❤❤❤❤

Fifi's flying paying customers overhead as I type this here in Des Moines. Doc, the only other flying B29, is doing the same next door in Illinois. Beautiful planes of long ago.

I thought Fifi was grounded due to a partially collapsed landing gear problem and they couldn't get a hold of the part to fix it.
