"I was shamed man, to sing anything other than spirituals around home; fact I'd probably get whipped." I thank you for playing your part in bringing the "spirituals" of the BLUES to us. I'm sure your singing and playing before the throne of heaven right now.

Crazy to think he was 48 years old when this was recorded

Though this aired in 1972, I think it was filmed in 1971 during the recording of the “In London” album. He’d have been 45 or 46, depending on whether this was before or after his birthday (in September). But regardless, he does look and sound at least a decade younger.

Dirk Diggler, Peter Green wasn’t at this one, but he was at one of the other “In London” sessions. He plays on the album’s first song, “Caldonia.”

This man was awesome in 1986 saw him at the Paul Masson winery in Saratoga CA- His band and his set list was tighter than any I’d ever seen... you could tell they were all professionals...it was blistering - the notes he pulled off Lucille that day.

I love this video! Love to hear B.B.'s voice and see him again. I have been a B.B. King fan since I was 15 years old. He is the BEST BLUESMAN there ever was! Met him BACKSTAGE at the Circle Star Theatre in California! I had written him a fan letter in gold ink. He read it backstage while people were sitting around him in that area! I miss him a LOT! He will live on in our hearts and in his music. Play on, B.B. we love you.

That was beautiful Nancy. You were bless to meet the legendary B. B. King. I been a huge fan myself every since the 1970's,after I discovered my father's 8-track tapes on Mr. King. Basically his early and late 1950' and 1960's recordings on those tapes and those were the greatest times of my childhood years.

I notice that even when young and with a lot of pounds less B.B. KING loved to play the guitar seated. He is a great icon for the blues music of the American black people. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bl4uqkgCcTw.html *GUMSHOE💙BLUES* Guild Guitar cover by *Duane💚Eddy*

The thing about "the sound he wants to get" recurred frequently in those interviews I think , there's another One in 1968 where he basically says the same thing.... wonder if he ever actually got that sound he was looking for (the tones on Thrill Is Gone and Ghetto Woman are perfect imo)

Great documentary.. Should always be companion piece to B.B. King In London, since it shows him working on that very album. However, this doc is dated incorrectly, as it should be dated 1971 since he recorded it between june 9th to the 16th.

You know what? I thought to myself "easy.. sure I recognize it.. it's one of the tracks on BB In London" but you know what? I can't find it either.. even though I am SURE I heard it befiore. Since it was recorded for the "In London" album it must be listed on the session records, maybe as an outtake.. If I find it I'll leave a comment!
