Hi, soloists other than BB are Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan (elder brother of Stevie Ray), and Robert Randolph (pedal steel), joined at the end on stage by Ron Wood, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, Johnny Winter, Warren Haynes, David Hildago, Johnny Lang, Joe Bonamassa etc.

The crowd reaction is from recognizing his signature hit, the only one some in the audience even know about. By 2010 he had performed this number a few million times and at this specific show he sounds tired and perfunctory. Do yourself a favor and listen to his original studio version. Here, he and the band hit all the right notes. In the studio he drags the soul out of all the equipment to let you know how hurt he she makes him feel. I’ve been to a half dozen of his concerts and clubs. Attended his club opening in Kissimmee in ‘07. Bought my 1st BB LP when I was 17, over 50 years ago. He is a legend and the Crossroads series was a annual concert hosted by Eric Clapton to bring other star and session guitarists together, originally in Chicago, considered the recording capital of the blues. You’re watching awestruck “kids” playing on stage to pay homage to their hero, BB King. But if you listen to his music from the early 60s you will realize his true influence on the greater genre and earnest with which he lived and believed the blues. P.S. I grew up listening to the radio stations out of Memphis, so I had very early exposure to the blues and rockabilly musicians of the era.

This song closed out the 2010 edition of the Eric Clapton Guitar Festival at Toyota Park in Bridgeville, Illinois. It was an eleven minute extended version that was mostly instrumental. For the majority of the song it featured five guitarists, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray and Joe Bonamassa. Toward the end of the song all of the performers at the Festival came on stage and started playing the song. A real who's who of the guitar world . Anyone of whom will make you fall in love over and over again.

B.B. King was 84 yrs. old at this show!! Then all the legends show up Johnny Lang, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band & Gov't Mule), Susan Tedeschi, Ron Woods (Rolling Stones), Keb Mo, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, and Robert Randolph (playing the pedal steel slide guitar (lookin for the King's approval) and a few others!!!

Proud of you babygirl for reacting to an ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!! He has literally inspired anyone and everyone who ever picked up a guitar including Stevie Ray Vaughn who he played with many times!! I saw him and Bobby Bland in concert, the crowd was still applauding an hour after they finished. The police had to come and finally push everyone out! Saw him for the last time here in Zürich before he died!! R.I.P. B.B.

BB King is a legend....so much so that he was once asked to be an opening act for Stevie Ray Vaughn, when Stevie found out he got really upset that they had asked BB King to that because in Stevie's mind somebody of BB King's caliber should not be asked to open for anybody.......or something to that effect.....BB King plays a Gibson (ES-335 I think) named "Lucille" Crossroads is a guitar festival that Eric Clapton holds and invites all leading guitar players to play

BB King was 84 years old when this tribute to him was filmed... he died a few years later at the age of 89, He is one of the most influential Blues artists of all time. Rock and Roll grew out of "Delta Blues" and there is probably not a famous Rock guitarist worth a damn that was not influenced by BB King and some of his early Blues Guitarists. He really was a national treasure.

BB King was one of the greats, but to fully appreciate him, you should really look for live performances from the 1950’s through the 1990’s when he was at his peak in performing. This performance shows the respect he garnered from other greats that he inspired, his older performances will show you why everyone loves and respects him.

BB King and Buddy Guy were two individuals who had a major influence on rock guitar virtuoso of the sixties and seventies, which include those guys playing with BB King in this video. One could say BB King was among the foundations that rock music was built upon.

Towards the end of the song, Ron Wood (The Rolling Stones), Buddy Guy, Hubert Sumlin (guitarist of the legendary Howlin' Wolf, among many other things), Susan Tedeschi, Warren Haynes (one of the guitarists of The Allman Brothers Band) and a few more guests that I can't identify. The first time I saw him he had two shows to play (I had tix to the second show) and he was so tired after the first show that he went out to his tour bus and went to sleep. Finally came onstage about 2 hours late for the second show, after midnight, and NOBODY CARED!!!! He was wonderful just like we all expected. One of the true blues legends.

For a thorough baptism in B.B. King and the blues, find a copy of his "Live At tThe Regal" album. It's simply one of the best live recordings ever committed to vinyl. He and his band did a three night stand at the Regal Theatre in Chicago then picked the best version of each song on it. When I was 8 we went to the annual Fall Carnival in Hot Springs(my home town). I saw him then and I was loving the music. After he finished I went up to him and asked what the blues was and why he named his guitar Lucille. I kind of got the meaning from what he said. Then I told him I wanted to play guitar so he played some notes and handed me Lucille and I tried to copy them. Of course it hurt my little fingertips then. But 5 yrs later I had my first guitar and was off on the journey. So I ended of with the memory of lifetime for a guitar player. 58 yrs playing now.

Referring to B.B. King as a legend is spot-on accurate. There are many incredibly talented blues artists but B.B. King is my favorite by far. I'm a bassist, and any time I feel like playing some blues songs, I always seem to start with this one. Go back and listen to this again, sometime, and focus on what the bass is doing. One of the coolest grooves ever. I'm very happy for your new discovery, my dear, and I hope you continue an exploration of blues. Otis Redding, Bill Withers, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf, T-Bone Walker, Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and many more. The field is rich.

Great reaction as always. ❤ BB King is a great artist and one of the blues OGs. Just an interesting factoid about BB King- his guitar's name is Lucille. In fact, he calls all his guitars Lucille. It stems from an incident in 1949 when he still just an up-and-coming artist. He was playing in a dance hall when a fight broke out between two guys. During the fight a barrel of burning kerosene set in the middle of the dance floor, a fairly common practice at the time, was knocked over and the hall burst into flames. But just after BB King got outside, he realized that his prized guitar was still inside the building, so he ran inside and retrieved it. Afterwards he realized how foolish he had been, and that he could have lost his life. He also found out that the two guys were fighting about a woman called Lucille, so he called his guitar (and every guitar since then) Lucille, to remind him never to do something as stupid as running into a burning building or fight over a woman.

BBKing was the only blues artist I know of that was known by and loved by the most people, many young white people as well, he had agreat personality tha invited everyone in. Many of King's early recordings were produced by Sam Phillips, who later founded Sun Records in Memphis TN, the same lable that had Elvis Presleyon the early days... Presley was fully aware of the bigger problems King faced as a black musician and later helped his friend to get a major gig. In 1972 Presley had made a call and booked the show for King in the lounge. Presley himself had been playing live in the hotel’s main theatre. King said this was something that Presley did for him several times.

That was Eric Clapton next to BB with the blue fender. The Crossroads Guitar festival is a thing that Eric Clapton's put together for a little while. He once had a cover of a song called "Crossroads". Actually, he may have even been doing that way back when he was in Cream, but it's really an old reference to a famous old blues song called "The Crossroads Blues" by Robert Johnson, about going to the crossroads and meeting the devil, and making the decision to sell your soul to the devil in order to be given the gift of being a great guitar player. So, it's an old mythical thing among guitar players. Which road would you choose? Would you sell your soul to the devil to be the greatest guitar player that ever lived?
