Taught myself to play the live version on my standard tele. Now i need to fing a b bender. That weepy beautiful pedal steel sound is what made me really love page. He uses it so much on grafitti and out door.
This makes me so happy. I'm glad that Page employed this mechanism to add that beautiful flavor to the live versions. The original is just a great. But the B-bender totally transforms the song in a good way.
Love this channel! If you're interested in featuring more bender licks from outside of county & western, you might look at James Hetfield's verse riff in Metallica's "Unforgiven II." (Not that there's much to discuss there, but it's still tasty.)
Adam - welcome aboard! Thanks for the Metallica tip as I never new that existed. Very cool to see James rocking it with a bender Tele in the video! Cool bender riff as well - just learned it (after realizing I had to tune down a half step first...) I've been thinking about a lesson on bender options within minor chords and this might be an interesting jumping off point for that type of thing.
Amazing!! I've been playing guitar since the 1970s, and just found this "Bender," B.S. I guess you are never too old to pull off a bender!!!! Now how much for a bender tele??? Hey does Keef pull any benders??? (On guitar?) Lol
My bender would be considered a medium throw. Here's a link to the gentleman that installed it for me talking about a recent long throw bender he installed you may find interesting. Keep it Bent! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qyr5CARu-Mw.html
