Thank you ... thank you.. I cant wait to install my zen a/b box with my audio control amplifier using these steps. I will be using a custom cut piece of plex-glass. I will be keeping the sub box and replacing the woofer with a shallow pioneer & adding a 12'..
Awesome work fellas! Ground breaking. Hopefully by mid summer I can have your custom king ranch box in my ‘20 f150!! To cruise through the California trees in sacramento 🤙🏽 big fan of your shop and designs sage!
Great video! Contemplating what to do with my '19 F350 Platinum audio - it's very weak. Also, hook those battery cables up - positive first, negative last. 👍
Wish I saw this before running my power. The interior side channels below the door sill plates isn’t big enough for two 1/0 wires as stated in the video. Had to cut one of the tabs off the rear sill plate so it would install which is all I can think about.
They are large enough for 2 1/0 wires. I'm running two power wires to the rear of my F350 by coming into the passenger front floorboard and then under the sill plate and back.
On the Plug & Play packages, since everything is pre-wired, only one connection is left to make. So for our OCD, we did flip this cover. Each package is different, but each one follows the easy to install setups.
I think I may need to change my grounding location and run straight to the battery instead of that grounding location down by the floor on the passenger side
If it's a aluminum body truck, these are glued together. You have to run to the battery for the ground. If you are dropping too much, either your battery is low or you are drawing too much current (Gains not set properly)
Heres a question Ive been giving thought while planning out my 1/0, while in for service, especially on the 6.7, cab lifts are needed to service the engine, how does the harness work for that? Cabling is attached to the frame but goes into the cab, when they lift the cab off the fram Has Ford ever complained or had to cut the cables going to the cab quarter?
You would disconnect the power/ground at the battery along with the zip ties along the frame. After the repair work is done, you just reattach the power / ground at the battery and use zip ties to attach back to the frame.
Same Question, If your installing a three way system do the tweeters use the factory wires and the mids use the wires you provide Do you run them up the right side or both on the left and the right through the dash? Nice work on the video!
Yes, we not using the factory wire for the 3-way. Since the factory only has one pair of wires and you have to run a set anyway, we include a total of 4-wires (Two Tweeters + Two Midrange), labeled and cut to proper length. Each pair run down their respective side, a lot easier than trying to run through the dash.
great tutorial. Any idea how applicable this is to the '21 Limited Powerboost model with the Unleashed B&O setup? I have been looking for a while for a P&P sub option for my truck and the packages you offer are the best setup i have found so far.
It's around 80% accurate. You can for sure use this as a reference and just remember, the power/wire gland/hole size changes with each kit, so don't drill into the truck without measuring first :) Also, we are here for you with any questions you have
What's your amp power recommendation for the F150 power boost/hybrid? I'm seeing a lot of info saying stay under 30 amps. So I'm looking at the MATCH M 5.4DSP, but I really want to install the JLAudio VX700/5i Thanks 👍
Stereowise, you can run pretty much anything you want. All electronics utilize electricity in different ways, but stereo systems are very forgiving and any of our plug / play packages will work great with no issues.
Was hoping to see a bit of the Zen module config and updates they do. My chimes are... quite different from the B&O sound, so much that i actually disabled the Zen chimes and use the IPC Chime Piezo. Any idea why it chimes so fast and out of sync to the belt ding etc and sounds cheap or is it just me?
To update the zen is pretty easy, you will want to have no connections on the Zen except the USB cable to your computer. Then you will disconnect from the internet on your laptop and type in ZEN in your browser. That will provide you the chimes menu. The tone of the chimes is pretty much the same as factory, but what could be different is the DSP tuning if you have or the speakers sounding very different from the factory ones. I would triple check tuning, phase, crossover points, etc to see why is sounds so different.
Just depends on if you are local. Transportation is usually $1k each way depending on your location. Some customers will install themselves and others will take it to a shop knowing it's already pre-tuned, can't mess that up...
