Both sound great! To my ears I do prefer the B&S as it has more color to the sound and sounds closer to tenor trombone than tuba. That being said that M&W Bach seems like it would carry more and has more fundamental in the sound which I think also suits an orchestra brass section. In my time as a tuba player my favorite bass trombone I’ve had in a section was a Bach 50 with Hagmann valves because it had the best of both worlds, a beefy sound, and lots of color.
I have a question. I would like to know if a single rotor bass trombone is worth it. I play tuba. I've recently gotten into jazz and I want a bass bone. I don't have much money, and I want to get a good, cheap one. I would buy it used. I need to know if a single rotor bass bone can play just as low as a double rotor bass bone. Thanks.
Would an a47 slide fit on a bach 42? Just wondering i have an LT slide and wondering about possible slides that would fit it, I use a 42af gold brass with an LT slide currently
I think you sound better on the B & S, but that may be because you're more used to that horn. I thought that the B&s tone overall was better but the m&w had a truer deep, centered focused tone like you would hear in an orchestra.
