Freshly built B20 vtec built by Raymond Velloza of Badmon built gets tuned by Jason aka. #smurftune ‪@PrestigeMotorsport1‬
Highly recommend both these guys, Raymond has built a couple of my motors now including my D16 Turbo CRX and referred me to Jason #smurftune and I was not disappointed. Both share the same attention to detail as I do when building my cars and really love what they do. Jason did a phenomenal job at understanding how I plan on driving the car and what I'm looking to get out of it. Super down to earth guy that really knows his stuff. Go check out his AWD EK Sedan putting out over 1100+ HP. Motor setup was designed for my style of driving which is street use and track use (circuit). The idea is to have a de-stroke motor to handle better abuse and higher RPM and is essentially acting like a 1.9L motor. Below I'll list the De-stroked motor setup done by Raymond Velloza.

Tuner seems like a cool guy. My tuner is dead quiet like he got forced to tune my car. Getting the car tuned is a thing but having a nice friendly tuner makes the experience 3x better.

I know what you mean. I Can say that the experience with Jason tuning was 2nd to none. No sense rushing, answered any questions and just overall great personality. Easy to see he has a passion for his craft and even shared with me why he is the way he is. His past personal experiences dealing with shops and tuners made him want to give people the type of experience he wish he had. 👌🏽🙏🏽

I’m happy with the numbers and there’s still room for more. For one, this car was tuned for a couple of hours without shutting the car off and that’s after a 2hour drive to the shop, so it was heat soaked (on purpose). It’s tuned on 93 pump so if I decide to do E85 that’ll get more and the exhaust is very restrictive with 2.5”, non mandrel bend plus I’m running an ultra quiet resonator and muffler from 1320. If I switch to a 3” I’d get more. That’ll be my next power upgrade.

Thanks. Great numbers bro. I’m going to upgrade the exhaust to 3”, lighten flywheel and adjustable fpr. Hoping for better numbers. It is de-stroked so I’m thinking lower numbers regardless

@agcrxturbo9577 yea the 3" will definitely help. I switched cams to Kelford 176-C, and put a full 3" back from the 3" header collector and made 216/151. 3" is definitely better

@@scottg1962 I’m hoping that’ll get me better numbers. I still have stock b16 fpr that’s at 36psi, I’d like to bump that up to 43 or so. My 2.5” isn’t mandrel bend and I’m sure it’s holding back a ton. Also when I tuned I drove the car 2 hours to the tune, the. Tuned 2 hours without shutting off car to hopefully replicate worse case scenario track conditions. I’m sure I’ll get more. Those numbers you got are great. I’d love to be in that range. 👌🏽👌🏽

@agcrxturbo9577 what injectors are you running? I ran out of fuel in my gsr on 93 made 192 maxing out stock fuel pump and injectors. Threw in walbro 255 pump and oem rdx 410cc injectors and picked up 15whp midrange and 5 peak made 197/131 after retuning.

@@scottg1962 I’m running 550cc injectors and am AEM 340 fuel pump but fpr is oem b16 at 36psi on the gauge. Maybe bumping up the psi to 43-45 at idle can help. I run 93 fuel. Those are some solid numbers u running.

It’s de-stroked so it’s more like a 1.9L. I can get 200 on E85 with this setup. I’m thinking once I swap out the 2.5” non mandrel bend exhaust with a 3” mandrel bend, add adjustable fpr (has stock b16 at 36psi idle) and a lighten flywheel will get me there.

@@agcrxturbo9577 building a b20z1 right now and gonna go with a oem build but want 210 220 hp.. Cams are hard got in ireland.. And ive snaped a skunk2 pro 1 cam on 200hp b16a and dont want go down that road again 🙄

@@Keane-to-clean 210-220whp was my original goal but it’s hard to do all motor. I’m going to make some tweaks and add different things to try to make 200whp but in scenarios I’ve see. That maje that all motor, usually involve, port and polished head, e85 and a great tune. Hope u get the numbers u want, if so post and tag so I can see 👍🏽 if cams are hard to get, maybe get oem Integra Type R or CTR.

Base gsr fuel pressure is 42. Raising the duty cycle doesnt raise fuel pressure to the rail. So he tuned it on low fuel pressure. You should be making 200whp at least with cams and a b20 block

I’d have to look into that to confirm but I’ll research it. It is a de-stroked B20v so not sure if the numbers would be the same. It’s a b20 block bored over .5mm, custom forged rods, cast pistons that are coated (11.3:1 compression) on a 1.7 gsr crank with a B16 head. I’m also running 2.5 full exhaust (not mandrel bend) with a 1320 ultra quiet resonator and 1320 muffler. That might also be robbing some whp

@@Fa5Squad thanks for the feedback. I plan on making some changes and getting a re-tune in the future. I’ll throw in a fuel pressure regulator for that. I’ll still use the same tuner though, he did what he could with what I had on the car. I wouldn’t blame me not having a fuel pressure regulator on him, that would be a me thing.

@@Fa5Squad i list likely can but since I plan on retuning and eventually going with more aggressive cams later on, I rather put on an adjustable one. Also, if I throw one on now, I’m sure it’ll throw off the tune so I’ll wait. I Olán in adding a lighter flywheel, redoing my exhaust and adding the fpr so I’ll tune after those three mods.

Nice build. Did you get the skunk2 tuner 1s new or used. I bought used tuner 1s and the cam lobes were worn and messed up my rockers. I only made 187 with 139 tq on my b20v. Changed cams to new blox tuner C's and made 219whp and 165tq. Same head, block, header, 2.5 exhaust, only diff was cam and slightly ported skunk2 rep intake manifold. Not saying it will make more power in your case Just curious. I also track and autocross.

Thanks. Wow, those are great numbers. What fuel, I’m on 93. They were new. It’s a de-stroked setup so it’s a b20 block with 1.7 gsr crank with custom rods. Essentially it’s like a 1.9 at 11.3:1 compression which is more geared towards road racing. I feel like the exhaust although it’s 2.5, May be more restrictive because it’s not mandrel bend and I noticed the test pipe looks very restricted. I’m getting that redone so maybe I’ll gain a few ponies after. Eventually I’ll go to 3”

@@agcrxturbo9577 Thanks. I run 93. Probably could be the exhaust then. I know it's just dyno numbers but feel the only thing that suffers a little bit when destroked is the torque. Just my observation from researching dyno graphs. I Just changed my setup to pro 1 cams (degreed), 4 piston ported ultra street manifold and 3 inch exhaust. Made 231whp and 171wtq. Scared I'm going to crack a sleeve though.

@@malice930 that’s wild that you’re getting those numbers in all motor, awesome. For now I’ll enjoy the setup and see how she feels at the track. Eventually, I’ll throw on the 3” exhaust, maybe upgrade the cams and see what I get later on. I’m also running a 1320 ultra quiet resonator and 1320 muffler. Not sure if that robbing hp too but I’d assume it is.

Did ur valve springs need to upgraded for that build? Nice numbers.. Also in the middle of building a b20z vtec i have 2 option's b16a head or gsr head im unsure and i want 220 plus hp.. Parts i have for it are k20 injectors fuel pressure reg and 255 Walbro, 70mm skunk2 tb.. Unusre on a intake to get prob a skunk2 rep also and 2.5 exhaust no cat ect..

Did you really use a B17 crank in this build? That would make it a 1.8 and not a 2.0. If so you're probably right around where you should be. Should rev like crazy. Subbed for more content!

We sure did. My builder recommended it since he’s done a few and for the way I would drive the car, it makes best sense. With the custom rods and pistons, it’s closer to a 1.9 and because it’s de-stroked, revving is fun and healthy. I appreciate the Sub and glad you like the content. Thanks. 🙏🏽

I want to say rpm set to 8400 and car made 180whp/137tq. Idk what that relates to the crank but that’s what it made to the wheels. I think to the crank that would be roughly 200hp
