What characterize Hot Brakes, and when do you need to comply with Brake Cooling Schedule times in the FCOM. My personal opinion is shared in this video.
Enjoy

I totally agree with your analysis. As a cpt , I very often meet first officers, captains and training captains who really become anxious when the btms shows only 2.5 or 3.0. As soon as the band becomes white, a misunderstanding of a hot brake situation takes place, but in fact , it shouldn't. For the situation where you think to leave the gear extended after take-off, I believe it is useful for the airplanes that don't have the option of the btms installed. This procedure lets the pilots feel more comfortable as a confidence step in order to comply with the brake cooling schedule tables for quick turnaround situation, as no visual temperature information is given to the crew.but one important think to remember, is to make sure that crew are aware of the degraded performance after take-off with the gear extended especially at night . It has been proven that delaying a sequence of a normal procedure for a while may lead to forgetting it as we receive a lot of informations during this critical phase of flight. Best regards.

Dear Capt. Abdul, In my 12 years of industry experience in Aviation, never come across a Capt who is well-aware himself, imparting knowledge in such a clear, concise and "as-is" manner. Looking to meeting you someday. Happy Landings.. Sreenath from India (VOMM)

Capt.,What all are the criterias you consider,in case you have to do an overweight landing. And what all will be your priorities and method?..

Hello arun aravind, Some of the situations that call for an over weight landing in my opinion include but not limited to: - An urgent medical condition for a passenger or a crew member. I will not go into a holding just to burn fuel if I have an urgent medical situation. - Smoke/Fire in the cabin or the cockpit. - Engine fire that is uncontrollable. - Loss of both engines and relight is not successful for both. Those are some situations I can think of. The main landing gear is designed to do landing at max takeoff weight with no flare (don’t quote me for that 😉) So the only thing you need to do be careful with the nose gear and make a logbook entry and maintenance will perform their inspection procedure. Hope I answered your question, let me know if you have any other questions. All the best Abdul
