You're right, it does kind of sound like a GTR at full throttle.....idk if I'm a fan since it overpowers the supercharger sound which might be my favorite part of your car. I think I'm brave enough for a tunnel run next time you're in town with the car haha
I know this is an old vid, but I just ordered test pipes for my A6 and was worried about rasp and noise with an AWE touring exhaust. This helped a lot to calm me down. Really excited.
Hell yeah Eli this is so awesome! Makes me want to go back to straight pipes on my MK6 gti but like you said the cold starts did not make my neighbors happy. Can’t wait to see you go dual pulley setup with this! Wasn’t sure how I felt about this car at first but you’ve got an eye for tasteful modifications and that is what keeps me coming back for more. Keep it up!!!
I like it .... At least you don't have to deal with 4cylinder problems, like how to make it sound good .... A bit of drone ain't the worst, especially when it's not at cruising speed.
My personal thing is just a nice low sounding exhaust. I don't really like that high pitch noise that some exhausts make. So the Touring I really liked due to its low tone compared to the track or other exhaust systems. The test pipe just seems to high pitch and loud for my taste.
on my GTI i have an ATP downpipe which also comes with the midpipe to a Eurosport catback and it's full catless. My friends always complain but I love it.
What if I got these then had some high flow cats welded into the stock down pipes, then a Magnaflow 11386 in place of the baby resonators, then another Magnaflow 11386 in place of the center resonator, then Magnaflow mufflers at the tips all with 2.5" pipes. Wouldn't that sound almost like stock cats since you still restrict the airflow just at a lower location? And the smell issue would go away? I already have everything but the test pipes and the high flow cats.
I have AWE Track and AWE down pipes I feel like mine is to Loud I’m setting off car alarms would you say your setup is louder it’s hard to tell from the video?
Ay brotha 2013 s5! Have the jhm race pipes/stock dp with touring catback! I was wondering if you had really bad rattle when you’re coasting or coming to a stop. Having that issue rn and I want to get it fixed. I feel you with the 2k rpm range shit is really loud but I don’t like the tone of it now daily driving. Just some tips would be appreciated!
Maybe I'm getting old but that just seems to loud. Too much hate from neighbors and attention from the police. Not worth it in my opinion but thats the beauty of modding cars.. it's your car do whatever you want. That said I bet this won't be your last modification on your exhaust.
Around town I'd leave it on D comfort mode. My MK7 is super loud with the catted dp and remus exhaust. So when I get home at night, I just put on D and normal mode
IgnitionTube curious on what could be better and cheaper. Only recommended AWE as it would complete your exhaust by matching the catback and their resonators are suppose to be slightly better than OEM.
There is a recent thread that solves the drone problem and there are sound clips for proof on audizine. All you need to do is replace your factory resonators with a magnaflow resonator and all your drone problems are solved. Check out the thread, it’s called unhappy with my JHM exhaust.
New to your channel great content! I wanted to ask what would you recommend as a setup for an exhaust. I’d want something in between this and the awe touring setup. Would want to avoid drone as much as possible.
Sounds great at full throttle Eli! But yea, that drone above 2k is the worst. Have you thought about adding bigger resonators to your stock downpipes to try and cut some of the drone?
I want to go stage 2 but don't like the exhaust setup. I have been looking for awhile now on one running JUST test pipes, no other exhaust mods. Every video that I have seen though always has some other form of aftermarket exhaust as well. Is just running test pipes not a thing? Or does is it just as loud?
Anyway to run a Stage 2 with tcu upgrade and intake without the insanely loud exhaust? Your Awe touring itself sounded so nice and streetable. This is just insane at this point!
Curious to hear if the resonated downpipes clean it up. I have an Ultracharger setup and a testpipe in hand but I'm putting off installing it because of the noise.
Maybe roc euro intake? Love the IE but intake noise. But if you want it back might be the only option. I’ve never heard the IE in person so i’m not sure if it’s louder. I just remember how loud it was on my dads B8.5 S5.
Roc Euro is a joke of a company right now. They take orders and then take 3-4 months to ship. Integrated is just as loud as Roc Euro (so is CTS Turbo), but both have a much better build quality and actual quality heat shields haha
Headers are the entire piece off the block to the downpipes. Test pipes just replace the section of the headers that holds the cats, post-collector but pre downpipe
Well whatever you do don’t tell AWE you’ve added test pipes. They point blank refused to sell me the same system you have without the downpipes for my S5 convertible because they said it would drone. And when they eventually agreed to sell it after I complained many times, they refused give any type of warranty whatsoever. So Milltek went on 😍
IgnitionTube agreed, Perhaps one day their attitude will change to doing all they can to facilitate a purchase, rather than hinder. Anyway, love your videos, and passion you put into the car. Let’s keep spreading that positivity 😎
And actually what shop did you have do it? With your stock cats when they were cracking, could you smell them like when you would accelerate hard from a stop, or doing say an on ramp pull? If so, I fear mine may be in the same boat.
+IgnitionTube they were removed when the ultra charger was installed I removed the UC and put on new Cats. Also upgraded the cooling. Enjoy the smell.. :/
@@IgnitionTube You will get sick of the loud rasp and the smell before I loose my cats on my Audi. Cats get blown on non modded cars also, but if you allow the car to cool and while having a larger heat exchanger, they will in fact last much longer. No need to hate on a fellow S4 owner, you seemed better than that. Unsubscribed...

No, you need the AWE resonated downpipes. You would cut out the AWE X-pipe, and weld in the 11386, which is a muffled X-pipe. Basically, swap the non res X-pipe for resonated X-Pipe.
@Angel Pacheco.. ive seen it.. a audi a4 3.0t quattro.. dragging a s4 like this. Both stock n stock.. or tuned i cant remember.. and it kept up to the s4.. the video went on to say if the 3.0t is modified it has potential to beat it
@@IgnitionTube Lame response. All I'm saying is that you could probably find a system just as loud but without the drone. That's horrible bruh. Instead you compromised for loudness.
Not the greatest sounding motor. I don't like it and I have one. Supersprint down pipes and mid muffler delete. It just sucks . Nothing personal . I'm sure it screws. Neighbors hate me .. F.. Em .
All the new audis with paddle shifts sounds like shit. The farty tone when you shift. Thats why im gonna get a B7 RS4, pure V8 and manual. Even with my straight pipe 2009 A3 with DSG, it gets that fart tone and drone.
