This man needs more credit and recognition for the wonderful drummer he is, he knows all his stuff, and he knows exactly how to add the perfect groove to a song. Great work Baard, can't wait for more from you!!!
Flawless and an incredible performance. Baard is one of the most interesting and groovy drummers around today in the progressive metal genre. Loving both Rendezvous Point and Leprous. Very refreshing and inspired.
I'd love to see those "Thumbs down" people try anything like this, it's freaking awesome. What kind of person would give this a thumbs down ?? Unbelievable.
5:25 Musikken her har mye av den samme skjønnheten over seg som Arvo Pärt har i sin musikk i form av nydelige klanger. 5:25 The music here has very much the same beauty as the music of Arvo Pärt, famous for his lovely sounds. 5:25 Die Musik hat hier die gleiche Schönheit wie die von Arvo Pärt, der für seine wunderschönen Klänge berühmt ist.
just a couple thoughts-I'm noticing the cymbals are fkd and same ones in almost every video posted even the borknagar stuff but they all look like they have been fixed drilled also to stop cracks and grinded to prevent more damage on edges??also if endorsed by sabian perhaps it's time for replacement s lol unless the sound works for you
Good drumming. IMO you could try to make transition to open-handed technique, so you will be able to insert some toms rides crushes with your right hand in such patterns as starting from 2:00, for example (playing hats with left and other kit with right). So it will sound more full and complex.
Tantrys Who knows...It's all his creativity and thinkig. But open-handed allow him to play ghosts also plus he could add some toms, cymbals in between if he'll want. He can't phisically do it with left hand, because right hand is blocking movement. But If he change hands in the same pattern, he could do a lot more with both hands...more freedom. (but I'm just a big fun of Bobby Jarzombek's drumming, and he made transition to open-handed because of it.)
+Eirik Kvalbein It's important to mention that it was the world championship in _electronic_ drums - not world championship in "normal drumming". So it's not quite correct to say he's the world's best drummer.
+Eirik Kvalbein I'd kill to see a Baard VS Blake Richardson. Both are amazing fillers and ghost notes users plus rhythm changes and polyrhythmics. And I think we can add Jay Postones too.
It's not physically impossible to add toms there... I like adding some high tom beats in between HiHat notes when the right hand is on the upstroke. Maybe not the cleanest technioque but it works. By the way, you can just put the HiHat on the right side without switching hands. So you don't have to relearn everything you know.
