Hey everyone! I've been trying to make this video for a while now, and it's finally here! I'm pumped. Had the chance to try out these 5 rackets I've been meaning to test for a while now, and I finally get to share my thoughts on them with you. Hope you enjoy it!

Hey everyone! I’ve realized I made a mistake. The Head Gravity is not more Head Heavy, it just feels like it is. Sorry about that!

Awesome review! I do play with the Dunlop cx 200 but the LS version and I added lead to get it up to 11.3 and it’s just sublime now. Amazing slices and topspin but retains that low flex feel(pocketing). It also is forgiving vs the tour. I think that’s a good platform frame to customize. The tour version is indeed much more demanding and requires excellent footwork every time. You can’t just lunge and wrist through a forehand cross court ever with that frame like you can with a pure strike. It will land short 100% of the time. I string it up with hyper g mains 53 and head fxp tour crosses at 51.

Thanks to your technical advice I have bought four Babolat Pure Strike 18/20. I think it is the best racket I have ever owned by far. I used to play with the 16/19, but the 18/20 is better in all aspects. Greater speed and ease of creating effects. I am using it with Babolat RPM Power 1.25. You have been correct in all the analysis you have made of the racket.

Just played the Pure Strike today.. very lovely finding.. I heard about the Pure Aero and the Pure Drive before (liked a lot the Pure Drive, very nice balance of power and control but the Pure Aero is not for me, too specialized.. for spin only) Now the Pure Strike.. well, well, well, have to play it again but now my preferred racket .. Lovely, sweet, good for everything

I am torn between the pure strike 16x19 and radical MP. tried both, but as i have shoulder tenderness due to too much swimming i find it difficult to compare comfort (even a clash would hurt now !) . Which of these 2 is more comfortable on the arm? Thanks !

I would say the pure strike 16x19. Have not personally tried the radical MP but have heard from other players that it can be slightly stiff and a bit harder on the arm. It also depends on ur playing style and level. Head is a bit more forgiving on beginners in my opinion.

@KaruesellHQ
@KaruesellHQ 3 года назад
Thank you! Looking back I definitely think the pro would have been a better comparison (base on the feel), but I chose the rackets to test based on specs, and the tour has pretty much the same specs as the blade and the pure strike (except head size). But I definitely think the pro would have been more similar
@userdjee834
@userdjee834 3 года назад
Gravity Pro is really pro, and could be compared somewhat to Pure Strike v3 18x20 and Dunlop CX200 Tour, but not to other racquets in this review. Zverev, Rublev and Barty play with it. Heavy in the head, stable, needs constant hard hitting, a rocket really if you are advanced, if you have a double-handed backhand and if you stay on the baseline, although it volleys great. Needs a leather grip for good balance. One of only a few pro racquets you can actually buy.

Great picks of racquets. I get the feeling that Babolat Pure Strike and Wilson Blade are the current best picks of the season. My questions to you are: do you think racquets are genuinely improving or is it just marketing hype? I appreciate that you can’t restring every racquet, but how much of your overall impression is based on the string setup and not the actual racquet (in your opinion). Finally what setup are you currently using? Thanks so much for your excellent work.
@KaruesellHQ
@KaruesellHQ 3 года назад
Thanks for the comment Dene. I have mixed feelings about this. Definitely think that the manufacturers are making better rackets, but not necessarily to the extent that it will change your whole game. Most of the rackets today are excellent and are enough for most players - the rest comes down to hard work and skill. In terms of the strings, I think my setup with the pure strikes and the Dunlop were good enough to feel the racket, while the strings used for the blade and Gravity I think hurt my overall experience with those rackets. Personally I still have my rackets from college - Yonex VCORE Duel G (310g)
@jaysean9589
@jaysean9589 3 года назад
@@KaruesellHQ what did you not like about what was going on with the strings? I like the gravity a lot. I think it is a pretty string sensitive racquet but what isn't, if you're critical and a heavy hitter? I like it because it allows me to go a little looser but still has the density of the 18x20 pattern. Hitting with a pro stock gravity now that's extended length. Struggling to get power but maybe I need to try more things regarding the setup. Kinda between that and the ezone 98+ right now. Trying to find an extended length I really vibe with since I think the idea that 27" is standard takes away from an aspect of personalizing the racquet. Hardly any good plus racquets, despite how many pros use them. Many 27.2" or .3" on the tour. I think Djokovic, Monfils, nishikori and more use an unusual length. The 27.7" gravity I have is actually made for Zvrev so he's using a long one.
@KaruesellHQ
@KaruesellHQ 3 года назад
For the Gravity and the Blade, the tension was off a bit and the strings just didn’t give me the feel I wanted. Would switch to something better next time. Also the reason why I prefer the other rackets to the gravity is that they allow me to swing through the shots better. The gravity gave me great control, almost too much to the extent that I started feeling “lazy” on the court. Personally I like rackets that make me stay more active. I also felt like it didn’t add as much bite to the ball as I wanted

Hi! After leaving the sport for about 17 years I just started playing again on a weekly basis. I currently have the Wilson K Factor SixOne 95 16x18 but feel that maybe it's time to change to something a BIT more forgiving but not too much.... which racket would you think would suit me better? @martinc7947
@martinc7947 2 года назад
I have a very similar story to yours. I too also played with a Wilson PS Hypercarbon 6.1 midplus and have been searching for the right racket since coming back to tennis. I’ve have the following rackets. 1. Head gravity Mp. So far my stick to go to. I have 2 of them, which I am customising at the moment. Played with the tour and the pro. Too heavy and too stiff. Plus 18x20 wasn’t what I wanted. 2. Head speed Mp: A close 2nd to the gravity Mp. I may get a second down the road to play parallel against the gravity Mp. See if I can make a commitment after that. 3. Wilson ps v13: hits and plays like a PS but the racket doesn’t help the player much. Not what I was looking for. 4. Yonex vcore 100: sold that after playing a handful of times. Just didn’t click with me. Maybe the weight distribution turned me off. A very balanced distribution. Looking for headlight rackets. Side note. All rackets were replaced with leather grips + over grips.
@martinc7947
@martinc7947 2 года назад
Forgot to mention. 5. Wilson blade v8 100 (not the light version). This and the speed Mp were super close. But what turned me off was the arm soreness I had the night of playing, albeit the full bed of poly RPM blast was most likely the culprit.

The new Blade plays different from the one you're testing. V7 has less power and a very flexible feel. The dunlop wasn't that demanding but played stiffer than I expected. The dunlop feels like a tweener compared to other racquets like the pure strike tour, gravity pro, vcore 330 etc.

You should try and get a couple of lower level players eg. 4.0-4.5 to add their comments as well to round out the review. For example, I felt the Blade 98, just needs you to be "on it" 100% of the time to get the best out of it. Great when you're amped up but tough stick for those lazy days. With regard to the Pure Strikes, I tried the previous gen (2nd gen) - easy power and spin - but almost all Babolats are too firm for my liking, so this 3rd gen doesn't make me want to try it.

I am around NTRP 2.5-3.0, and I play with the Dunlop CX200 Tour 16x19! It's a little more challenging to use, but honestly I didn't find it to to be as difficult as you did. I have a small, unmuscular build too! I play with the CX because I want to take my tennis seriously. I feel like I can cheat too much with the Pure Drives and Pure Aeros in the market. I still trying to understand what people don't like exactly about the Head Gravity? I only hit with it for 5 minutes (it belonged to a friend) as it was super comfortable and had a big sweetspot, but you're not the first person who's been lukewarm about it. What is it exactly that you didn't like - low powered? Not enough spin? Not enough plow/stability?
@KaruesellHQ
@KaruesellHQ 3 года назад
Don’t get me wrong, the Gravity is a nice racket. However, the tour version just didn’t offer enough plow through and spin. I’ll try to test out the Pro version in the future and see if it offers a bit more in those areas. It’s an excellent racket though for beginners / if you’re mostly just rallying
@a2casius
@a2casius 3 года назад
Putting Solinco Hyper G @53lbs in the racquet, the most under-powered poly I have ever played with, I think had something to do with it. If your strings are taking all the power out of the frame, you crave plowthrough to get the power back which was the final conclusion. Put in a thinner or more elastic poly or a hybrid setup, it will play very differently and provide a lot more pop and heavier ball, though the extra plowthrough requirement could still remain.

I agree - the strings did not help at all. But like I mentioned in the video, I can’t afford changing strings for each racket we test haha otherwise I would. Hopefully in the future!

@@KaruesellHQ I totally understand and I think even with the different strings in each setup and from your previous experience, your analysis was still pretty much spot on, so congrats on that. I'm finding most racquets on market these days are string sensitive and require many iterations to get the to right string setup anyways. The challenge in demoing is trying to work out what kind of setup suits what kind of racquet. If you could add that in your future analyses, I'm sure your viewers would appreciate it :)) I know I would :))

Have you done a review on the pro staff 97 rf edition? I'm currently playing with that racket and it just feels too heavy sometimes. I wss wondering how it compares to the pure strike. Your video was really interesting because I play fairly aggressive baseline with an extreme western grip ( so a lot of spin!)

Hi. Check out the tennis warehouse review of the pro staff 97 rf and you’ll see that it’s a great racket “if you can handle it” (the weight). So you’re right, it’s heavy. Also i think the rf is more a control/touch racket and less a heavy spin racket. So in your case i’d be looking at the more spin oriented frames, such as the babolat aero, but maybe the strike is a nice in between. And maybe check out a slightly bigger headsize as well (unless you wanna be like bjorn borg who hit the frame twice in one stroke). But in the end it’s personal :)
@kkopo123

@@richardvanvliet2287 yeah I've seen the reviews, and I've actually played well with this racket for like 3 or 4 years. I'm just not as spry as I was before haha more looking for a comparison between the pure strike and the prostaff. Only 1 sq in head size difference between the two, but that is a big deal in tennis

couldn't agree more with the strikes 16x18 and 18x20.. I usually hit the 18x20 because slices are very good and it seems to hit thru the court, 16x18 I hit more top spin but and it gets into the court but can leave it short although higher bounce and more top although if you dip too much your opponent can attack.. that happens less with the 18x20. my strikes all have lead at 3 and 9 with some tac in the handle.

It makes no sense when you put different strings on the rackets and then try to compare them, there's no baseline as the strings will bring another variation to the rackets' playability
@transamination
@transamination 3 года назад
56lb tension poly in a 95inch head 18x20 pattern is pretty tight. The Dunlop might have reviewed better if you'd gone lower on tension.
@CH-yp5by
@CH-yp5by 2 года назад
Agreed thats crazy high for 95 inch racket, people do not realise that the strings will be stiffer in a 95 than a 98 at the same tension because there is less leverage due to shorter strings in 95.

Interesting comparison. However not very valuable information on this video due to the different setup. I own the blade and cx200 (my main) and had the pure strike and pure storm all strung with babolat rpm blast 17 at 49 lbs. All racquets were setup to 350 gr static weight and 328-330 sW. For me cx200 works the best. Best maneuverability, just enough power, super accurate. I am all court with fast swing speed.

Shame. V7 is a better racket to V6 and is closer to V5 but less power. I have played with 4 generations of blades. I just string V7 with a lower tennis to add more power to the racket and a bit of lead at 3 and 9

you can buy a reel of inexpensive string that is good like the Babolat Syn Gut which is fine and Babolat Pro Last that is the very close to Luxilon Alu power or make a hybrid of the two. dont say you cant afford so strings for a comparison video because then you cant affor a slice of pizza at the bakery either. Just make sure to have a string machine, maybe a dropweight, at home or loan one from you neighbour.

My level is about 3.5 i guess, and I use a Head YouTek IG Prestige Pro 19x16. I gess it is pretty much like the Dunlop, isnt it? I know that it is not an easyest racquet to use, but if one gets prepared turning his shoulders in advance and starts hitting with hips following with shoulders, the racquet feels and strikes decently.

It is hard to trust your feed back, when you don't even know what you are playing with. Also, I know tennis warehouse does not allow this, but you need to do a comparison with your preferred string and tension in all the rackets, as the difference in feel and play-ability could just be from the different strings.

If string yourself its not expensive to string all the rackets fresh with same string at same tension. So I think its a poor excuse. Just pick a string brand that do not overcharge but have top quality like the MSV

This video can't help anyone who wants one of these 5 racquets because you try to compare 5 different types of swing weight, 4 different head sizes, different grams and none of the raquets has the same string and the weight is different. So you have 5 different raquets for 5 different levels of play and types. So I think this review is not useful for anybody. Sorry...
