I just went on a school trip and bought a little chick, didn't tell my parents. Needless to say this video is great help. Ah, the little one still needs a name...
We have the same feeder, and they can spill large amounts of feed on the floor, I found if I put it on a 2x6 and raise it up a bit, it helps keep feed in the container.
Eric , how old or how many weeks old before I can remove the light in the evening? My chicks are already one month old , can I still continue to put light 24 hours a day . My chicks are inside the garage in small chicken coop .
I thought you guys would get a total understanding out of this so my brother and I have baby chicks we’ve been raising them now often on for several years he got in a shipment and got some baby Guinne so anyways one day he was at work and he works for the Massachusetts water resource authority and he was at work and the power went out in his greenhouse so he asked me to go over and flip a switch and I did and being in the learning process I said to him a couple of chicks got out well he was on the phone long story short he said oh no the baby Ginnys and someone overheard him say that on his phone at work and he got called into the supervisors office and he got suspended for three days because he used a racist statement We laugh at what bullshit it was when we were trying to educate them that we’re farming and that’s what they are called and they would not have it at all but I thought you guys might get a kick out of that so when he said the type of chicks I immediately thought I had to tell y’all this
I feel the feeders in the vid are good for all reasons mentioned, except for spill-out. I bought 2 of them (From a local supplier.) after getting a dozen chicks, and I've found that they end up raking more out of the feeders than what they actually eat. I think these feeders would be MUCH better if the feeder holes were about half the size currently utilized in their design.
I'm really not trying to raise them. A mama chick forgot two of her babies.. (She's obviously a bad mom). The other bigger chicks were pecking at the baby chicks. I had no choice but to bring them inside my apartment. There's a lot cats and bad kids that loves hitting the animals with sticks. I shudder to think what they would do to two helpless chirping like crazy baby chicks. I intend on sitting outside and waiting for mama chick to come so I can release her babies. I do wonder if she realize two of her kids are missing?
I’m about to get baby chicks thanks for the info but apparently my parents said I can’t raise them till full grown so my mom has a friend that has a farm so we’re going to give them away to her when they get too old
Clear, concise information. Covered the basics for the new owner of chicks. Some product sales, but that is to be expected. Hey, you're in business. Thanks for the good info and more important the time you took to make the video.
My daughter brings three baby chicks yesterday and we put all our efforts to make them warm and feed them and give them water, but two of them died i don't know why. Now i am learning what to do for next time if i had the chance to raise another chicks.
Hi, my new chicks have been under their warming station since I brought them home two hours ago. Should I introduce them to the water and food again??? I’m getting a little nervous they are not eating or drinking!!!!!!!!!
Is it common at all for a chick to be perfectly fine and healthy Monday and then die the next? I dont know what I did wrong. The other 5 are doing perfectly fine.
I am going to get 15 baby chicks delivered tommorow I am so exited i have also made two heating boxes for them I just want that when they grow up they love me and treat me as their daddy
you give them no chance to die damn, kinda sad tho how overly clean and modern looking people raise their chicks in. what about some hay and twigs? you know they do live in the wild and all animals are happier in more natural habitats.
Hi, I need your help I have a blind chick and I don’t know how to make it survive because it can’t eat enough and It’s too small compared to the other chicks
@around the block i had a similare situation. Just feed it every coupl of hours. But it eventually died anyway. But atleast u wont regret not helping it .
small tip you can also use a flat bowl and a Plastik bottle for the water! you just have to make some holes in the bottle under the edge of the bowl then you have to do water into the bottle and close it so no air from the outside can touch the water besides the holes at the bottom of the bottle.
A wild (abandonned) found my 2 hens. He now climbs into the coop with them at night, guess he adopted us! I think he is an american gamefowl and my hens are golden comet and orphington. Should i mix feeds for the chicks that may hatch to increase protein. Maybe i am mistaken in my understanding of game bird.
great information in the video, but its extremely boring. It sounds more like a college lecture rather than an informative video even though the information is really good.
I really like your video and would like to feature it on my website Chicken Heaven On Earth if that is okay with you. I can also include a link to your page and website if you have one.
