Baby Chimpanzee Clings To His Agitated Mother 

Mother chimp ZeeZee takes her baby boy Jeff on walkabout around chimp Island 0:01, he clings to his moms back as she patrols through the longs grass. At 0:35 Pattie grabs a stick from the bushes and throws it into the water moat. Note how large Pattie is when compared to big alpha male Carlos as they walk side by side at 0:51
Suddenly 1:49 we hear chimp screams from little chimp Toyah as she is chased by Alice's daughter Annie, who seems to be trying to steal an apple from her. Toyah's mom Mandy is upset with this 1:50 as she makes vocalisations to let the others know ! At 3:40 Dylan's recent battle scars from skirmishes with Alice and her supporters are apparent on his face.
Baby Jeff has come off his moms back but not for long as his mom ZeeZee scoops him up and puts him back onto her back 4:00 in her usual confident way. Something is agitating the experienced mom as she makes vocalisations and shows her chimp teeth across various facial expressions ! Baby Jeff is relaxed and not at all stressed with his mothers displays.
This video was recorded in June 2024 during a period of unrest in the chimp group mainly focused around Dylan and Alice. The cause is unknown but possibly due to Alice testing Dylan's dominance or Dylan being unhappy with Alice's loyalty to him ?
