Deeniee02 Most of the times they don't find them. Then they're either starved to death or attacked by something. The one in this video was abnormally lucky. Millions of baby animals die in the wild like this.

S Sam By “misbehaving”, they mean the baby elephant didn’t stay close to mum. It’s an innocent, but not encouraged behavior for small children to wander off away from their family, especially when traveling. A lost child is a cause for great concern, human or animal. The baby elephant is fortunate he found his mom before a predator found him. 😥

To let the elephant calf know to go back to its own herd. Not all herds accept another's calf which leaves the little one vulnerable to predators. Nature, as it goes without saying, is cruel.

Wild animals have to learn how to be good mothers. It's not as instinctive as people think. And sadly, a lot of young born to first-time mothers end up dying. Nature is a cruel green mother.

011KiKi : To the baby elephant everything is strange and challenging. His little contented squeaks turned rapidly into cries of panic. That nearly broke my heart. He is so short he can’t see the adults moving forward, and they don’t know he is not with his mother. Thankfully it all ended well. Hopefully he will live a very loooooong and safe life.

In the wild, and especially being very young, there aren't many second chances. Yes, adding the mother's inexperience oftentimes adds to a tragedy. Luckily, in this case, there was a happy ending and both mother and offspring learned a very valuable but scary lesson.

I bet the baby was never actually that far away from the herd. I doubt an elephant could be so forgetful as to accidentally abandon its offspring and the camera never panned out to show the true distance from the herd.

Elephants are emotionally complex. Maybe they have a kind of postpartum depression? Elephants, when grown, can communicate with infrasound through the ground, so something was off with the mother, or the ground/plants/water were also a factor, maybe.

This was an emotional rollercoaster. Lol From happy while chasing a bird to sad to anxiously looking for mom to finally happy again. My rigidly frigid heart was sobbing warm tears of joy by the end of the clip. It was beautiful. 😁

It's lovely to see these elephants go along and live their natural lives. The elephant of my local zoo is kept locked up like in prison and it's emotionally upset. It's deprived of its fellows and lives alone. You can tell that by it's appearance. So sad 😢😪😥

I've seen what happens when a baby elephant really gets left behind by its mother, and it's not pretty at all. A very torturous death. I'm glad things worked out for this little one.
