@@ScoutOnly You are partially correct. In Croatia, athletes or performers who get exceptional results while representing Croatia are financially rewarded. Why? Because while competing, they are doing something for the country. They're good advertising for the country and when you're a country that depends on tourism as much as Croatia, that is a huge deal. Trust me, Croatia will profit a lot more from Baby Lasagna's success than the reward amount. However, there was no amount of money planned by the government for the second place in Eurovision. And they had to vote to use the tax payer's money for this reward. And BL refused because he is real. He knows that the money is needed elsewhere and he gave it up and told them exactly where to use it, even though he is far from being rich. Whereas our football team (and all of them are richy rich) never refused their reward. So, yes. He did the right thing. And it speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. Normal, down to earth, socially aware and real.
