Baby *Lavender* Hognoses Hatching!! 

Giving this a like so they can see it. I was thinking about that too! The orange just made them look greener than purple and I was wondering if they ever considered using green.

I was about to comment that they both turned green looking the moment they were put on the orange sheet especially the normal one went very green.

Also depends on the pigments that the camera can pick up from light. When working with digital, you work with light, not a solid pigment. If you add more color, it will become lighter, almost white. The camera also is very saturated, and the hues are too high.

I was thinking deep green or lime aswell!

I would also recomend to look into using other tipes of light, sometimes a yellow light afects the colors diferently than the white one, and the other way around

Pinks don't show up either. I have a pretty pink snake and he's very pink but he's all washed out on camera.

Oh my goodness yes, I was about to comment that my violet budgies and even some of the blues just don't show up in photography properly. Love to know if there's a background trick to show it!

@@Denuitbreker true, however Netherlands 🇳🇱 has 1.) diferent shade of red and blue and 2.) stripes in diferent order (red, white, blue), while Russia 🇷🇺 has them as white, blue, red. Similar, yet diferent flags

@@themurrrr but- Russia 🇷🇺 and Netherlands 🇳🇱 are much more similar than France 🇨🇵 French flag features vertical stripes, while Dutch and Russian has horizontal stripes. Also I'm pretty sure they were refering to the colors openly. So their statement is, in fact, correct. I'm just assumed they talked about the Russian flag, since it is similar to Dutch one.

Well that works in theory, but sometimes some eggs go bad so that number can change. And they always go through the perlite before tossing it so no baby gets left behind

Probably a good practice, especially when you have many people in the process. It would be easy enough to cross out and add new values if/when eggs go bad. I have cognitive impairment issues sometimes, so I tend to like to have belt, braces, and another belt, especially when it comes to animal care!

Don't forget there's always the possibility of twins so even with accurate numbers they gotta double check xd

It might be a better idea to label how many eggs are left on the first day of pipping instead, that way if there are any twins (or.. escapees) they have a solid count

I'll bet lavendar hognose are the same colour as jacaranda flowers, which also don't photograph properly. The problem is that the camera sensor isn't designed to detect the wavelength of the blue colour they're reflecting. So there's no settings or background that can fix that. It's like the camera is partially colour blind. I wonder how they'd look with a UV camera or under blacklight

@@Rebecca-zj4wq actually standard camera are more sensitive to UV light than human eyes. They just have difficulty determining the difference between white light and conflicting colours. Human eyes have rods that detects overall volumes of light (black and white) and cones that detects colour (specifically red, green and blue) Our eyes can tell the difference between conflicting colours (like blue and yellow) and white where camera have more have difficulty doing so because those conflicting wavelengths together make white light. By adjusting the exposure you are telling the camera it has too much white and it then goes "oh, ok than this must be blue and yellow!" Jacaranda flowers do reflect a lot of white light that the camera is more intuitive to and so just removing some of that white let's the colour pop

Another thing I've noticed is that reds in particular tend to not be picked up very well on camera(at least on phone/tablet cameras) compared to human eyes and subsequently, oranges like with my bearded dragon and purples like with their lavender hognoses suffer the same fate as reds and barely get picked up unless there's like a lot of it. Like, the oranges my bearded dragon has look pretty vibrant to my eyes, but on camera, when I'm taking a picture of him, I can barely see the orange. I think that in my case, it's in part cause the orange is a pretty small portion of the color pattern of my bearded dragon(mostly around the eyes and the mouth) and most of his pattern is creams and browns with some black(spots at the shoulders) and white(belly) as well. And so it's getting a lot of the other colors and it's just overwhelming the orange on camera vs my eyes easily seeing where the orange is and how much there is.

Just imagined the morph combined with other morphs (albino; axantic; snow; arctic; super arctic; a superconda laverder (you need two copies of the lavender gene for that to happen I think); and maybe etc.)
