no its not wrong, it just means 95% of cheap tricks stuff isnt known by most people, the radio plays mostly i want you to want me, surrender , dream police, then the flame and maybe "shes tight" WE FANS know the rest of the stuff
This song is like a whole bunch of classic rock tracks all rolled into one: the guitar riff of the Yardbirds "Psycho Daisies", the stuttering vocal of the Who's "My Generation," the "My baby likes to rock" lyric of Ted Nugent's "Wango Tango," and the histrionics and stop-and-go rhythm of Zeppelin's "Black Dog." If you need an instruction manual on how to write a great rock song, here it is.
ALRIGHEEEET ,,,,!!!I ITZA WANGOOOOO ZEE TANGOOO JUAN OO REE ORE , COME ON BOYS,,, TURN U P THE WANGO!! my baby she like a rock my baby she like a roll my baby she a dance alnight my babys got no control she do the wango tango,,, lol dude ever wonder where the band NASHVILLE PUSSY got their name??
Your funny! alot you have listed i can agree on or I dont know but this isnt at all like Bonhams Black Dog , theres no click beginninng each part, Bun has a different intro for each one and dont tell us youve never written a song by putting down a part you thought was good n cleaver until someone like yourself goes off finding something simular. remember they put it all together and did it well, you should be an attorney instead of a musician. this isnt 1964 many riffs have been used
who has time to make lists, I write rock operas on my channel, I wrote Wanton Opera. I saw cheap trick, and the guitarist saw me, I was just standing drinking a beer cause I cant dance, but I like cheap trick
Especially as good as he sounded while singing Live throughout the bands long career. Not the heaviest band by any means, but they know what a good riff and hook is to make it onto radio. Their old tunes still make me freak out just like they did when Ibwas a 10 or 11 year old little punk kid.
robin zander is the best rock singer in history ... I saw him in an LA club with Ratt's singer, Jovi, and Vince Niel. when robin sang they all bowed down to him. He did Highway to Hell
I saw them sing this last night in STL! Robin (and the band) still sound as great as ever!!! He's definitely one of the all-time greatest rock singers....I would almost say possibly the MOST underrated singer of all-time, as well.
I remember seeing this in some bar in the Bronx, and my friend and I were ecstatic like two giddy idiots. Still love Robin Zander after all these years -- front men like him don't grow on trees!
The original Garage Power Pop Punk Rock Band - CHEAP TRICK! These guys are still going strong - except for original drummer, Bun E Carlos. We miss you, Bun E!!
😂 I recently watched the RU-vid video of Rick, Robin, and Tom on that Dan Rather interview program. Rick said that they got audiences that other bands didn't, include members of the LGBTQ community. These guys appealed to SO MANY people and musical preferences. 👍🏼🎸
@headshop I'd met CT years ago just after they first got signed. But recently, earlier this summer Bun E. put on a drum clinic at SSE Music in La Crosse (Wisconsin) and I had an opportunity to chat with him and he confirmed that like Ringo Starr, he's actually left handed, but plays right handed and is (for some odd reason) not as proficient playing drums left handed but good enough to 'fake it' in the few videos where he does it. Bun E.'s a total class act. He's good people.
@@establ its a crying shame, I bet slow hand and garcia from the ungratefiul Dead even though he doesnt tune up or slow hands plays whimppy they are both on your list
I remember seeing this in college in my dorm with the guys and girls. We knew this was coming on and we had such respect and love for Cheap Trick, we delayed going out just to see them on SNL.
Bunny on a double-bass kitt is pretty funny---untill you remember that he used to play as both a natural lefty, and a righty......I saw him live as both. (what a monster)
A rare appearance of Pete Comita. This is wicked. I actually met the original band when Bun E. Carlos was still the drummer. This was way before where you pay to meet bands. They even signed a Budokan photo I had been saving.
Robin is the definitive 70's Rock Frontman. He seems to effortlessly reproduce his studio vocals live on stage. He plays guitar (Not like Freddie or Mick, no disrespect, but they modeled guitars on stage, Robin's guitar. is actually In the Mix) And he looked like a Rock Star , in a suit or a tshirt
My friend owned a guitar shop and he called me up and said "Come on over to the shop I need your help for awhile". So I walked into the shop and there was Rick Nielsen. My friend started laughing and said "I don't need your help but I knew you would want to meet Rick" It was the best surprise ever as I am a huge Cheap Trick fan. I hung out with them for an hour as Rick looked at and played several guitars. Rick was such a cool guy. My friend Pete sold him several guitars over the years.
I read somewhere that Cheap Trick and AC/DC hung out in the mid 70s, and Rick introduced Bon Scott to Mexican food. I'd love to see Rick and Angus playing on the same stage.
cheap trick is an undertoe of waves...punk,glam,techno,grunge,new age-old age/disco to modern...all waves that splash and crash...the undertoe grabs you ,and rocks you
Yeah Me too. I've seen Cheap Trick live over 25 times, but the only time I've ever seen them without Tom Petersson was in 1981 on the All Shook Up Tour. Saw them in Oakland CA and UFO opened for them!!!!!!!!! 👍
Why would anyone judge you for having good taste in men? I mean, I'm a straight male and it's still pretty damn obvious to me that Robin at this time was a really good looking guy.
Yep...this is the SNL performance of Baby Loves To Rock. I remember making sure I was home in time to see this the very night this aired. Those were some good times!
LOVE IT! This band changed my life! They were the first concert I saw. Snuck out of the house to go see them at the Boston Garden. There was no stopping me.! Grew up and have been working in the music business for 20+ years! Still love them as much to day as I did back then! Long lice Cheap Trick!
OMFG !!! ROBIN ZANDER IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD ~ IN EVERY SINGLE WAY ! THE MAN IS STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS . ID LIKE TO HAVE MY WAY WITH HIM , UNTIL HE WAS SO WEAK , THAT HIS BODY & MIND COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE . OMG ! OMG ! OMG .......
This is such a great performance. Can't wait for the 2nd song to be posted. I am ashamed to admit this but when I first watched this years ago I did not realize that Tom Petersson was out of the band and Pete Comita had replaced him for this show and the tour.
Well don't feel too ashamed. Most of us didn't know at the time. They didn't really make much of an announcement. Tom just quit right before they were scheduled to go on tour. They found Pete on the DL, who was pretty much a Tom lookalike, and then hit the road without any press conferences. By the time anyone even realized Tom had been replaced, they were well into their tour. I remember being pretty puzzled myself because they looked so much alike
@@Brewzerr No they didnt, so what he left im sure most of us know why he left , but what about when Tom returned in 86? came back a super bad ass and has never left since, thats 37 years so who cares what you think Rockno
I was a senior in high school and I remember watching this on SNL. Also saw Cheap Trick that same year at Market Square Arena, Indianapolis IN. They kicked ass!
I was in the audience for both the rehearsal and the live taping of this SNL broadcast. Cheap Trick was definitely the highlight. That, and the then-unknown Eddie Murphy who came out to warm up the audience before the show started. There were a couple of record executives in line right in front of us, and the new bass player was brought out to meet them, which was pretty cool.
Yep. Dagmar, his wife, made him leave the band to go tour with her I've been told. Don't know how accurate it was, but glad he came back. He is as much a one of a kind as Rick Robin and Bun E.
It's not very often you see Robin Zander in a t-shirt & leather pants, I've always pictured him wearing a suit or a jacket but never in a t-shirt & leather pants
That, I recall was the All Shook up choice of clothing...."Green Suit" and "Pink Suit" was mixed in there too during that time- I know he wore one of the colored suits in a May 1980 show on the Dream Police tour. So you can tell the approximate year of a picture if you see what Robin was wearing (as well as who was on bass)
This is great. The band was tight as anything. Interesting - the drum set myst have been rented or was provided by the house because Bun never played a double bass.
@@BeauTokyo So you think Pete Comita, a guitarist who was hired to fill a bass vacancy is a better bass player than Tom Petersson... whose basslines Pete could only barely nail (I saw them with Pete and he was struggling with more than a few of those tunes)? Ok then. You do you.
his gold-digger first wife talked him into leaving C.T.and putting a band together for her.disaster.7 yrs later tom ran for daylight and came back to C.T.
Pete Comita. I remember seeing them on this tour. Peterson was off due to exhaustion. Joints thrown onstage. Rick threw the ones on his side to the roadies. Pete was smoking his. Rick attempts to get one off Petes side of the stage. Pete stepped on it mid song. lol
