Superb album, certainly their best release at the epitome of the 70's genre --- this emotionally charged track is a staple fave, along with the title track... Need Your Love is a deep track too --- Awesome band and sorely missed !!!
They are NOT under-rated! They tour constantly to sold out shows. Does that sound like someone who's under-rated? They have 19 studio records, 20 soundtracks, 17 compilation records, and 6 live albums. Does that sound "under-rated"? They've made appearances on major television shows. They actually played "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" live, in it's entirety, in Las Vegas, YEARS after John Lennon HIMSELF, said that The Beatles would never play it in it's entirety, because it was IMPOSSIBLE. Under-rated...pft.
Saw them open with this in Memphis 9/3/2010! What a great CT song! They did a really great variety of songs from '77 to '09 that night. They were on with Blondie so they only played about 75+ minutes. Both put on great shows and the weather was perfect ( it was in Audubon Park ) . This a great video! Thanks for putting it on to enjoy!
What a band. Is there anyone like them? I don't mean the way they sound. They are good, ok, but the way they look! We got Bun on drums, looking like time stopped in 1963. We got a certifiable madman on lead guitar. And then there are these two hair band guys with them. Gotta love them.
I brought this Album (Vinyl) in Oct 1979 and I still have it. Have it on CD for the car, but play the Vinyl at home. Watch You Tube to actually watch the guys perform live. Brilliant band and still have so much respect for their music. But last year, I was watching American Pickers and they met Rick and he took them to his warehouse and sold them stuff. It was from 2012 I believe but the history he had and the stories were amazing. He totally blew Mike and Frank away.
I've lost count of how many times I've seen these guys! They need to be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! They deserve it. There's a countless slew of artists that were influenced by them. Life goes on and on and on...........
love them too but gotta say, love a guy that smokes while playin the drums!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah not in favor now but take that from a lifelong smoker lol!!!!!!!
I got my hands on a guitar pick from Rick and Robin when I was 13. I’m in my 50s watching this and my first thought is…”God I hope he didn’t spit that thing out of his mouth!!” 😂😅
The so called rock and roll hall of fame is a joke.First of all who gives a shit .These bands all ready established them all over the world. What could be done to get around this dillema is to create another rock and roll hall of fame under a different name.
Oakland Colisuem.....16 years old, just got my licencs, took a hot babe from the neighborhood, made out all night...had folks Cadillac Seville...8 track was Blue Oyster Cult Mirrors....Cheap Trick was argubabley the biggest band in the world at that particular time! Things were just easier back then for kids....
Fans resent that Cheap Trick has not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think I understand the resentment: They had integrity head and shoulder above their peers and it comes through in their music. In somewhat more modern parlance, they were "real". I also understand why R&R HOF is not interested: Rick Neilsen's visual novelty. It was very helpful in branding the band in the 70s but made it easy for the uninitiated to mistake them for a novelty act.
+redxross True. And its really too bad, as Neilsen was and is a great guitarist, though his talent's been very much underappreciated. At least the Hall of Fame issue has finally been 'fixed.'
I enjoy music put out today, and Cheap Trick, for me, still holds up after all this time. Lyrics, music, still holds my interest - yes, I like Grimes :^)
"back in the day"... I could not get into a lot of the shit that was being played on the radio (yes kiddies... the radio and "airplay" used to be really important) and I never really cared for the bands/groups that you were "supposed" to like.- BUT I got these guys full-on! Still all these years later... they are great, the first four records are "must-haves"... like most really cool things, they get overlooked BUT they have stood the test of time ...WAY better than Bon Jovi!
First BIG show I saw. Montrose was gonna open but Ronnie got sick r whatever. But during the set, Rick was soloing n came over towards where i was. I noticed NOBODY was giving the thumbs up.. I just thrust a big ol thumb towards him n he just gave me one right back. Then I see all these other thumbs in competition. Rick threw a pick to me, but unfortunately the dude in the 'first' row intercepted.
Reality check. I bought Dream Police on release in 1979. I was 16 years old. Now in 2022, all of my children are older than these guys are in this video! When did this happen?
Sorry but wherever he is I have to send this one out to my childhood friend Harold Small. I hope your doing well and I remember all the good times we had.
I always thought this was one of THE great CT songs and wish it had been a big hit for the band and that they'd played it way more often over the years.
Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult at Cal Expo State Fair Sacramento, 1979, on the racetrack, 40,000 teenagers!...Cheap trick was amazing, but BOC came on and took it to a different level. Between 78 to 81, they may have been the best live band in the world!
Hey do you remember what month that was? I saw them on that same tour in the summer of 1979. They played at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Ca in front of over 25,000 fans. The line up was Pat Travers Band, Cheap Trick and Blue Oyster Cult headlined. Great concert!!!!!! 👍🎸
Must have been around this time I saw Cheap Trick for the first time, at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. I seem to recall Living Colour supporting but I could be wrong. I seem to remember Dave Edmunds guesting on an encore song..... bu I could be wrong. I definitely remember that it is the only time I've seen the band where Rick had lots of guitars on stands on stage. Like a vintage and boutique guitar emporium. Mmmm. Lovely!
Back in 1980 heard Dream Police for first time a friend of mine had it and we used to play it to death .... My school friend left Ireland back in mid 80s now living in San Francisco haven't seen him since then ..... Back in 2018 saw Cheap Trick for first time supporting Def Leppard @ 3 Arena Dunlin bucket list ticked brought me back to those schooldays 😎✌️.
I would love it if this was re-recorded with 2023 studio technology. The original is beyond amazing, but it could use some polish. Cheap Trick forever baby! saw them live a dozen times! I can't say that about any other band.
