Baby Koko like all monkeys are social and need touch, contact, and to be held for him to develop a good sense of belonging. Within a year he will become more independent. Remember they are monkeys and not humans. Teething and sucking the thumb are normal for monkeys the more you hold them the less they will need this security and comforting behavior.
