Having little to no expectations of the second child is good! I am the same person, but my 2 boys couldn't be more different. My second has kept me on my toes since he was about a year old, never a dull moment! Long story short, I'm not having anymore kids. 😂 Harriet seems like such a sweet soul, I'm sure she'll adjust great to having a little brother. 💞

I feel you so much, especially on the covid topic. I got pregnant in august, and had a missed miscarriage before that. Spring and summer came around, things around covid looked better and we wanted a second baby since the newyear. So we paused in march, april, but then got back to trying. Yes, I know I got pregnant knowing there was a disease going around. But it looked better and noone could tell us how long we were going to have to deal with it, could be years. But recent spikes, the British variety (I'm in Europe) and even the storming of your capitol, really took a toll. And then there's the stress of work at an elementary school (some kids get emergency-care, for example when parents work in healthcare), imagine working with young kids while not being allowed any safety measures. I took a week long break from the internet, stopped following the news and comments on socials. Took long baths, baked bread and cookies, read a book and really slowed down. It helped me so much mentally. Now I am trying to find balance again. I am glad when spring comes around and more people are vaccinated and we are able to get back to a more normal life. (we are currently in a super strict lock down)

Would love to see a video with your baby things. Stroller, crib, clothes, carriers and all your newborn necessities. Having a boy too in May and have a girl who will be 3 and a half when baby arrives 😉☺️

What a joyful time in your life to be able to bring a child into the world. You seem so stressed, enjoy this season of your life. It is so special to have little ones to mold daily. I'm a momma to 8 and I know it's tough when your in the thick of it to remember how blessed you are . but you are!

Okay I love this sweater. Do you have details to share? Edit: Also I'm a FTM during COVID and I really understand what you're saying regarding pregnancy and COVID. We've been so super diligent since initial lockdowns in March 2020 and only saw our parents once in all of 2020 to tell them we were expecting after lots of stressful cancellations and pleading they social distance. We do hardly no-non-essential trips out of the house (including things like haircuts, etc). I wish I could just decompress, unplug from work, and do some self care/time (massage, nails, hair, walking around the strore [cold in Chicago which I know you understand!]). It's really hard to not have time away from the home (even though we are typically homebodies).

It's so awesome hearing someone be super straightforward about pregnancy! I don't want kids myself, but a lot of my friends are starting trying and it's great to send some honest but relaxed RU-vidrs their way (when they ask for it) 😊

My husband and I have the exact same approach for cloth diapering and it's so freeing!! I felt like it had to be all or nothing at first and once I let that go, we started to really love it!

Feeling all the same feelings about motherhood during covid! We have a 7mo and it’s so hard! I spend so much time giving myself grace, crying, trying, surviving, failing and thriving. It’s been a deeply lonely time. Sending a virtual hug to you. For what it’s worth I love the mix of mom stuff and home stuff on your channel! I love literally every piece of content you make ☺️

Thanks for doing this video! Was really good to know there’s other people who feel the same. Social isolation is so hard when pregnant. My partner is working at the hospital during the day and renovating our cottage at night so I’m on my own a lot! 🥲

I had my first baby back in August and the COVID stuff has been so hard. I was in my 2nd trimester during the initial lockdown in March and I had to cancel my baby shower. I was so depressed during that time because I couldn't share my pregnancy with anyone. Basically, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and parenthood is so so difficult during this time. Best of luck to you with the rest of your pregnancy, birth, etc.

Thanks for this! I just had my second and can relate to a lot of your feelings. You'll do great as a mama of two! I've found reading books with my toddler while the newborn nurses works well. I'll rotate books so she feels like they're new and/or special and we'll also read electronic books from the library on my phone.

It's so tough! I found out i was pregnant 2 days after COVID hit our province and we've been in a total lockdown since 2 weeks before she was born. No one has held her except her dad, medical professionals, and me. Hopefully soon!

I'm kind of surprised/happy to hear this beautiful news, i thought you and somebody in the comments raised the "having more kids=not being sustainable" issue. Comments on this dilemma can be found under lots of lovely girls pictures or videos (such as Courtney Adamo, i remember she received a good dose of criticism on this point when she was expecting her baby number 5).

In this video? Wow, to be honest. Sometimes I do judge people when they have a ton of kids...I’m always like why...why are ppl having so many damn kids 😅 I feel bad. But it’s a legit question I have. I don’t even want 1, let alone like 5!!!

Hey Kitty. Thank you for sharing and filming this video. I am a year older than you, with a soon to be 3 year old daughter, and expecting my second daughter - in fact, my due date is TOMORROW, February 1st ! So we being from the same age, more or less, or kids having the same age gap and being pregnant at the same time, I really recognized myself in a lot of what you shared. And that felt so nice and helpful, especially in the context of isolation etc. I live in Europe, my daughter goes to school most of the time, and we are allowed a small support bubble, that being our parents, for us. We haven't seen our friends in the flesh since the summer. It feels so weird. Not at all how I had envisioned my second (and probably last) pregnancy 😥 Anyways, I wish you the best of luck with your delivery and everything else, sending love, strenght and hugs your way ❤

Baby blues. That’s what I heard it called....depression during pregnancy. I had it bad with my second one. I also had heart burn really bad too! Truthfully I remember being so surprised that I did not like pregnancy - I thought I would love it - but that contant nauseous, tired, heartburn ugh feeling was not fun at all. Anyway, I totally understand and can’t imagine going through all of that with Covid to top it off. Wishing you a safe easy happy birth.

Thanks for sharing. It’s probably will be a bit of a challenge juggling a toddler and a newborn, but believe me, any baby you have after that will be easier. Baby carriers are such a gift in the beginning months. Newborns loves being cocooned against their mommy. It will be understandable if after the birth we don’t see you for awhile. Very excited for you. Stay safe!

It’s normal to worry before delivery! Try to relax! My sister is due on January 24 with her first. I’m going to forward her your video. She’s going through the same feelings. It’s a shame because we couldn’t be there for her wedding in may or her baby shower in October. We live in New Jersey and she lives in Nebraska. It’s been super lonely for her I’m sure. Thanks for sharing!

I wish you all the best with the end of your pregnancy! Your Harriet videos were such lovely viewing content when I was expecting my daughter (now 14 months). I can relate to the struggles you talked about with not getting enough outdoor and social time for Harriet and for yourself. The pandemic started when my kiddo was 4 months and I was about to go back to my full time job in the city and put her in daycare. Fast forward almost a year and we’ve been together all day every day as I work remotely while caring her. Sheesh. The thought of adding a new baby on the way into the mix. 🙃 Tl;dr: You’re doing amazing things!

I had 2 boys and they were wildly different experiences because they are two different people. With my first I was able to put him down for a nap each day and get a break, my second wouldn’t nap. I also couldn’t put him down when he was sleeping. He would scream non stop and I never got any sleep. He turned out to have sensory issues and ADHD, though, later on so his baby issues make sense in retrospect. Good luck with everything!

I feel what you mean about hard pregnancy. But I can also say I had a wonderful birth, my husband could be there and everything went well as I have planned. All the best for you! 💝

Currently pregnant with number 4 and I only exercised with #1, except that I take a lot of walks. My third was actually my easiest birth for reasons I can't explain because I was a sad sad couch potato when i was pregnant with him... so don't worry too much! Also my friend and I joke about how we're heading into our "fit forties" after all these babies are born! Ha. That's putting it off probably a bit too far, but it helps my mental load!

I’m also due in a few months (with my 4th). Also nervous about visitors and family wanting to come and “help” with the new baby. My kids go to school in another state so my parents will bring them before baby sister is born. So already will have a house full and want to really minimize who all comes and calls as my hands will literally already be full. So yeah idk. Kinda want no one here till I’m healed and back. But I’m so very independent. And didn’t have help with my last two. So used to going it alone (which is honestly kinda nice). So yeah idk y’all. Such a weird time ya know

I understand you not wanting people to just come over. I was so overwhelmed with my first two kids. People just came over and woke up my babies. Didn’t help with anything or bring me food. I’m putting so many restrictions following the birth of our third baby. No one is coming over because I know they’re not going to help do anything. They don’t even help now so 🤷🏽‍♀️

I had lower back pain with my 2nd pregnancy, it ended up being a bladder infection. I was told to drink cranberry juice a couple times a week. You might want to get checked for a bladder infection.

I had my first baby 43 yrs ago and I got to stay in the hospital for a whole week. I loved that because I felt really comfortable as a new mom by the time I left the hospital. Also the nurses came and took my baby to the nursery and it allowed me to rest and heal. Btw, my next baby was 20 yrs later and it was really hard to go home within 24 hrs. Really different experience. If I could do it all over again I would have raised them montessori method. I believe it is a really healthy lifestyle. God bless you and your family.

How long do you get off in the US after having a baby? Or is it up to the employer to decide ? We get 26 weeks paid parental leave here but can take up to 52 weeks ( during which time they have to hold our job open for us ) I found with each child I had ( I'm a mum of five ) they just slotted right in, having a box of books and toys that only come out when you are tending to the new baby is a good idea, and slowcookers are a God send. Don't put high expectations on yourself and try and go with the flow

Most companies here in the us offer anywhere from 6-12 weeks maternity leave. Some do a little more, unpaid. Some do less. My husband had to use his PTO, as paternity leave is rare here. I was in the hospital for ten days, so he had to go back to work right after we came home with our daughter.
@CookbooksonRepeat
@CookbooksonRepeat 3 года назад
For a lot of people, it’s more like 4 weeks paid leave. A lot of moms save up vacation time to use after, so they can have longer or just go unpaid. It is awful.

Hi Kitty. Just thought I'd mention this in case you hadn't come across this info before, but restless leg syndrome is sometimes a symptom of low iron levels (which is a pretty common occurrence in pregnancy). So it might be worthwhile getting your hemoglobin and ferritin levels checked to rule this out, if you haven't already. 🙂

Yes, I checked with my midwives about that and was all good on iron levels! Thanks!

We have the UPPAbaby Vista. I've liked it for just one kid although I don't think its the most travel friendly stroller on the market, but great for walks around the neighborhood/city. At our old house we lived walking distance to the grocery store and it was awesome cause it works as half shopping cart/wagon to tote stuff home since the under basket is so big!
