Something short and easy to edit. Also my 100th video. Wao.
Lots of HE🚗. Also for the thumbnail, I originally had "When I was a baby peafowl..." but then I forgot I needed to add a title to the clip. "Baby Reien's dial-up internet story" seemed redundant w the thumbnail, so I changed the thumbnail text to "I turned off the ringer". Maybe it spoils the video content but I feel like ppl who don't know wouldn't understand anyways and people who do, will understand and be intrigued.... maybe idk.

It's why I feel so at home in Reine's fandom. I go to some of the other Hololive fanbases and there's so many kids I just spontaneously start growling "Get off my lawn you hooligans!" at my empty room. Also one of the funniest parts of this clip is that Reine knew exactly how ancient her fanbase is, that's why she rephrased to "Who has NOT used dial-up?"

When I was a sloth pup, our dial-up line would disconnect as soon as the call came in, so turning off the ringer wouldn't have worked. I did unplug the phone a few times so I wouldn't get cut off in the middle of downloading something, but my mom would always find out and get mad at me.

Reine is an enigma to me cause she talks about using dial-up internet when she was younger but in a later stream says VHS tapes shows that you are old

different regions had to live with dial-up for more time I guess. I had dial up till 2002 or something

I think she did say when she had dial-up, broadband existed but Peafowl Mama got her dial-up because she didn't know any better. In the US at least most people switched to broadband like 2002-2005 and from what I recall DVDs had already pretty much replaced VHS by then. DVDs started to get common like '98 and '99. (The PS2 came out in 2000 already with a bult-in DVD player.) So my guess would be VHS was still around when she was young but seemed "old" because she was more used to DVDs. She said her family had a VCR so she used VHS at some point. She does also joke about things like that sometimes. I could see her accusing chat of being old for remembering something that she also remembers.

@@TheSlothOfShadowsyup, i used to use dial up (around 1997 i think), but at that time i already watch VCD Also Indonesia is not the market for VHS, I learned that during that era, LaserDisc is the more dominant choice here

i had a different experience. the internet would disconnect the moment a call would go in, it doesn't matter if you pick it up or not. because of that, i learned that gaming using dial-up is best if you do it during the wee hours of the day because honestly, who would call from midnight to 6am unless if it's an emergency lol.
