This bring bittersweet memories. My daughter was 8 months old when she got her first glasses. 12 years later I still cry every time I remember her reaction that day. She was seating on my lap and she started touching my face and smiling. She couldn’t take her eyes and hands off my face. There wasn’t one dry eye in the room that day
Thanks God for inventions made by Christian men like eyeglasses which even people of other religions use ! Christians have added value to the lives of people of all religions !
the way she becomes so much more attentive and interested and engaged with her surroundings after her glasses are put on.... every kid should have access to proper eye care.

Back in the 60s parents often had to be actively encouraged to get their kids' eyes tested. In my small rural town kids like me with glasses were treated like there was something wrong with us. Now they can test a child's vision at this young age! Marvelous. I hope correcting her vision this young saves problems later on.
I am 66. As a kid l had bad eyesight and struggled with it for years until l finally got glasses in the 6th grade. I remember how shocked l was at how well l could see with them.

I was mostly blind until I started school. They thought I was deaf because I had a hard time understanding speech . Then they finally realized I was near sighted. Your lil baby angel girl is just the cutest ♥️
My son got glasses when he was 2. He looked at me & said WOW. As we walked outside he was touching the grass, trees, sticks, everything around us. He just kept grinning & saying WOW. It broke my heart & filled me with joy, at the same time.

grand son has eye surgery same age of two i had to hold him when the anestesia wore off and the shock of britness of lite he cried and cried he didnt understand

I enjoyed the book called glass castle. It has a little girl with vision problems and her first experience seeing with glasses. A truly enjoyable book.

It started out so sad when the baby girl stared blankly because she couldn't see her momma.After being given those cute,pink, eyeglasses...the baby girl saw her mommy for the first time and her eyes went from dull to sparkling.Her sweet little smile was completely heart melting. It’s wonderful how optometrists in this day n age have mechanisms that can detect abnormal vision of all sorts and thus bring about needed prescriptions even for a baby. Use to be when I was a child the doctor depended on the person in need to answer yes n no to various lens strengths along with a starting point of reading off lines of letters etc. Of course these are still validly used. It’s just fortunate that for those who cannot speak up, they now have this other backup help. Such a blessing for this blessed precious baby.

I've discovered a lil' late that my son has vision problem too....he had the same expression when we got him his power glasses...I'm so happy for Piper. She is so happy! God bless you always sweet Piper. Enjoy this beautiful world that God created for you. ❣️
I didn't know I was missing things. I got glasses in the 4th grade but needed them sooner. I couldn't understand why the school blackboard was so hard to read when I could read books ok.
@@emdee7744 yes, I have felt the same too. Try taking 1tablespoon each of powdered hazelnuts n fennel seeds mixed in a glass of warm milk every night before you go to bed. Oh, you can add a tsp of honey as sweetener. Hope this helps maintaining the health the beautiful pair of 👀 God gave us.

You don't understand how CRUCIAL it is for the developing infant brain to be able to have eye contact with the infant's primary caregiver in order to facilitate a healthy attachment bond. That baby's ability to form a strong attachment bond with it's mother will shape every single relationship that infant has in life going forward...friends, romantic partners, and any offspring that baby may have in the future...all those relationships will be shaped and affected by whether or not that infant is able to develop a strong and healthy attachment bond to it's mother. ...and part of that strong bond being able to develop is the infant's ability to maintain eye contact (in a loving gaze) with it's mother/primary caregiver.

Vision problems from birth are mostly due to fetal malformation. He can blame his mother for drinking, eating garbage and being irresponsible. Weak people produce weak offspring.

I finally got my first glasses at 28 years old. I never take anything I see for granted! That's the gift of not having something for a long time; when you finally do get it, you appreciate it so much! The wonder of leaves, the moon, stars, the blackness of black, the defining edges of things, will all be wonderous to me! The downside is that 3D glasses aren't an option for me, because that 3D vision part of my brain didn't develop without needed visual input. My dreams are blurry. I can't visualize whole rooms or landscapes. But if given the option, I would still happily trade it in for the wonder of vision every day that I don't take for granted! :) I am so glad you haven't forgotten your wonder at 8 years old!
@@daniellamcgee4251 how did you get to 28 before knowing you needed glasses? I also got my first glasses at 8 yrs, because I was failing 3rd grade, but reading at a 10th grade level. The lovely teacher who I had for grades 1 & 2 heard the 3rd grade teacher telling my Mom that I was [retarded, the word used in the early 70s], and I should be sent to a special school. I read books, because I could hold them close enough to my face to see them. It baffled me why my classmates were doing workbooks and writing and math assignments, because I had no clue that directions were written on the green chalkboard in yellow chalk. I thought it was just a green wall in the classroom! I also remember being able to see the ground I was walking on, and finding it so amazing! The teacher I'd had in grades 1 & 2 suggested a visit to my pediatrician, and I had vision screening for the first time. Nobody suspected that I wasn't seeing properly because of my reading ability. First visit to the optometrist, I was fitted with bifocals, so my eyes would change more slowly. 💜💙💚

My perception of certain things was "off," because I thought that only certain trees had leaves (I wondered where all the leaves came from in Autumn), or only certain yards had individual blades of grass, and only certain gardens had individual flowers, rather than just green expanses with a few blobs of color here and there. For 8 years, the world was clear for me for a shorter distance than my arms could reach, but I was still young enough once I got glasses that my brain was able to figure out 3D and depth perception. I'm able to "fake" being able to see without my glasses when I'm having a conversation with someone, because I'm pretty good at figuring out where their eyes are, even if I can't see them. It kinda freaks out my son! 🤣🤭🤣

They don’t react to things... At five months they begin to acquire depth perception (3D) so you could try seeing if they follow the finger farther and nearer to their face... you could move a toy from side to side and see if they will react by following it with their eyes. So on and so forth.
I also believe an eye doctor can obtain the physical refraction of your eye. It is only a rough estimate of your vision but it can confirm something is wrong if you have suspicions. This is likely how they arrived at the prescription for the baby’s glasses, since the baby can’t answer the usual “better 1 or better 2” questions. Also, this baby is adorable.
My son showed no signs of needing glasses. He was balls to the wall, climbing on everything, had no fear of high places. Then one day when he was three, he couldn't step down on a three inch curb without going super slow and was very hesitant. Not long after that one of his eyes started turning in. He has 20/20 in front of his face, but is far sighted. It's just everything in the middle he has trouble with. You just never know. Go with your gut if you feel something is wrong. 😊

I got my first pair at 7 too, and I remember being amazed and almost frightened at how large the world actually was! Lol, my mom said I said things like "Trees have leaves!" and even better, "Birds have legs!!"
Just amazing, she instantly realized that the glasses were helping her to see better, and also had that "whoa" look on her face when she noticed everything looked completely different than it did a few moments before.
So happy for this baby. I have a son that was a premie. He had had glasses since 10mos old. I remember this moment with him. No words can express the joy of knowing your child will be able to see. His corrected vision was 20/200. Now there are contacts with a strength of -20. He is almost 20 now. I can only imagine what will be available for this beautiful baby here in 20 years.
That annoying feeling when everything is blurry and then all of the sudden when you see clearly, it’s like discovering a whole new world 🌎It’s like seeing 240p image on a daily basis and then switching to HD image quality😂

I didn’t know until our pediatrician referred us to Dr. Bloom (the greatest) and he saw immediately the need for corrective lenses. Thank you for sharing the smile on her face is priceless.

I know this feeling. I have worn glasses since I was 1 yr. old. So for 65 years now. And have had 5 muscle eye surgeries. You can tell she can see better. It is truly amazing. It breaks my heart when I see a child that needs eye glasses. Thank goodness they took her. 🥰🥰🥰

I didn’t get them till I was 6... my mom felt so bad at how amazed I was at the world around me... seeing blades of grass instead of a green blur and many others. She felt terrible she didn’t know.
I can imagine your mum’s anguish. I read your comment on the anniversary of my mum’s passing after looking for a video to make me smile (which this one did). Mums are such precious things, I just wish I’d let mine know how precious more often.
@@steve5825 I agree. I lost mine when I was 28. Breast cancer mets all over her bones and spine. She suffered tremendously for years..as an ER Nurse she went to work even when her cancer left her needing a walker. The last year was spent largely in bed. I was with her when she stood to go to rads therapy and her femur snapped in half from the cancer...I held it together in the back of the ambulance. The medics didnt want to move her because she was screaming. I was in Med school then,. I was with her when she took her last breath. She was at home on hospice and largely in a coma for 2 days. I turned off her oxygen because I wanted her to pass more quickly...and I watched as her heart beat quickened without it. Her chest was so frail you could see it beating under her skin. A day later she started to Cheyne Stokes breathe... a horrible pattern of rapid and deep breaths followed by a long pause(30 secs?) and then a gasp and return to rapid breathing. this went on for about a day, with me and my sisters seated around her bed. Every pause seemed like her last....It was torture. I left the room at one point because it was so hard to watch. My sisters remained with her. About 15-20 minutes later I had an irresistible urge to return. She called me somehow without words. I opened the door and immediately knew she was no longer comatose, she could see me. I went to her side. "Mom, can you see me? Squeeze my hand," She squeezed. "Mom do u want more morphine? Squeeze my hand." She squeezed. I hurried to produce a medicine cup with a dose of liquid morphine and put it to her lips. She drank it and sort of choked...then she went decorticate...a rigid posture signalling death of the brain stem.There was a tremendous pull at my xiphoid...the center right below the sternum....It was as if our souls were united and as hers left she was pulling me along...but it was not my time and with a wrench she was gone. I wailed. A horrible crying sound unlike anything I had ever uttered before. She was gone. She never really left me though. About 5 years later I know she brought me to my wife. That was 23 years ago. Ill tell u that story if you'd like. It seemed like u might appreciate me sharing this one. Peace to you and your mum. I'll bet she forgives you and is watching you right now. I lost my dad in 2019, step mum last yr and now mum has stage 4 cancer. She's had 3 rounds of chemo but suspects the cancer is growing. We're waiting for the latest MRI result. I'm going to turn 26 this yr, I know I'm not a child, but I still feel too young to lose them all now. Your story scares me and I kind of wish I hadn't read it, but I also feel like it's helped in some weird way that I can't quite explain right now. So thank you for sharing it x
